LUCY Will Be Rated-R Upon Theatrical Release
Hey you, action fan. Guess what? Writer and director Luc Besson‘s forthcoming sci-fi action thriller, Lucy, is getting a kick-ass R-rating. And in a world where PG-13 movies (some good, and some needlessly rated as so) are domimating the conversation, it’s good to see that a portion of action film fans who love a good old-fashioned, grown-up R-rated movie haven’t been forgotten.
So take note: Set the new rescheduled theatrical release date for July 25, 2014 on your calendar, and by all means, bring friends!
Lucy also stars Morgan Freeman, Choi Min-sik and Amr Waked.

LUCY Gets An International Trailer
From La Femme Nikita and The Professional to The Fifth Element, writer/director Luc Besson has created some of the toughest, most memorable female action heroes in cinematic history. Now, Besson directs Scarlett Johansson in Lucy, an action-thriller that tracks a woman accidentally caught in a dark deal who turns the tables on her captors and transforms into a merciless warrior evolved beyond human logic.
LUCY Controls The World Around Her In The First Trailer
Marvel’s The Avengers 1 and 2 and Captain America 2 leading lady, actress Scarlett Johansson will be delivering her own brand of telekinetic, metahumanoid ass-kickery when she appears front and center in French action auteur Luc Besson‘s new sci-fi thriller, Lucy. And this week, we have a new trailer that shares all of the glorious action that awaits fans later this year following the exclusive first screenshot of the film courtesy of EW, and previous reports of the film’s exclusive footage screening at CinemaCon last month.
Johansson stars as the titular character, a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan forced to work as a drug mule when the mysterious drug suddenly leaks into her body, giving her unbelievable superhuman powers of mind and body, and much more. Actors Morgan Freeman and Choi Min-Sik round out the cast for the film’s North American release on August 8, 2014.
EuropaCorp, Fundemental Team Up For Besson's Next, WARRIOR'S GATE
Things seem to be cooking for a while now for Luc Besson and his production company Europacorp going into 2014 with a few films releasing this year, including Brick Mansions and the August release of Besson‘s newly completed sci-fi action thriller, Lucy, featuring Scarlett Johansson. The company has also been busy formulating its partnership with Mark Gao Jingdong over at Shanghai-based film production and sales company Fundemental Films, with plans to produce and release a batch of new films, notably including the new Transporter trilogy with actor Ed Skrein that was announced in the summer of last year.
The subject of such a partnership came up in an article written as recently as nearly two weeks ago in which Clifford Coonan over at The Hollywood Reporter discussed co-production status as a means for overseas film productions to get access to the mainland and make more money without being hindered by China’s current film quota system, a system which Youku Tudou Inc. chief executive Victor Koo says would increase if more theaters were built.
On the film front, the same THR report also officially confirmed another film on the way to be co-produced by both parties in the form of a new action adventure film titled Warrior’s Gate. At the time, the story details were still unknown, but a follow-up report now concludes the plot to center on a young gamer who comes across an antique box that throws him back in time to ancient China where he eventually learns martial arts.
Sure, it sounds like we’ve already been there before and the plot sounds pretty simple as things stand, so more details will be needed in the long run to get a better analysis of what this film will look like. Meanwhile, Besson will be teaming up once more with fellow scribe Robert Mark Kamen to help bring the story to life from ink to film.
We’ll learn more about this film as the year rolls on. So stick around for further updates.

'Game Of Thones' Actor Ed Skrein Is The New TRANSPORTER
With the upcoming American release of the urban action thriller Brick Mansions this year, filmmaker Camille Delamarre is following through from his Hollywood directorial debut with the upcoming production of the new Transporter trilogy, according to a new report from Variety. In addition, Game Of Thrones fans will have something to look forward to with actor Ed Skrein officially announced to replace action star, The Expendables 3 actor Jason Statham who starred in the first three films.
The new trilogy doesn’t have a publicly announced plot as of yet, but reports indicate that Skrein‘s portrayal of the character, former SAS operative-turned-wheelman and solo delivery expert may be written as a prequel to reboot the franchise to explore the character more. Delamarre will be accompanied by Lucy helmer, screenwriter Luc Besson who is also producing for EuropaCorp with China Based Fundamental Films’ own Mark Gao.
Statham is currently tapped to reprise his role for German director Dennis Ganser in The Mechanic 2. Meanwhile, Besson‘s next action thriller, Lucy arrives in theaters on August 8, starring Scarlett Johansson. Delamarre’s new film, Brick Mansions opens on April 25, while actor Chris Vance returns for a second season with this Fall’s North American television premiere of The Transporter series on TNT.
