UNBREAKABLE SPIRIT Bombs Away In The First Official Teaser
Assuredly, director Xiao Feng’s filmmaking endeavors in 2015 were meant to go just as smoothy as any other with upcoming World War II pic, The Bombing. As it stood however, things wouldn’t exactly turn out that way a year later when production hit a snag with investors the following summer.

Frank Grillo In Talks To Reach BOSS LEVEL For Director Joe Carnahan
Deadline is reporting that Joe Carnahan will be possibly reteaming with Frank Grillo for the new action thriller, Boss Level. The film is a co-production between Emmett/Furla/Oasis and DiBonaventura Pictures along with Carnahan and Grillo via their WarParty banner, and Scott Free.
Carnahan also wrote the script which tells of Grillo in the role of a retired special forces veteran in a life-or-death-on-repeat fight to find the person responsible and kibosh the never-ending death loop he’s trapped in. Actor Mel Gibson is also in talks for an unspecified role which would see the two actors back on screen since appearing in Martin Campbell’s 2010 thriller, Edge Of Darkness.
Financing will be provided by Emmett/Furla/Oasis whose Randall Emmett and George Furla will produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian. Scott Free’s Jules Daly is executive producing.
Grillo previously paired with Carnahan for The Grey (2009) prior to producing the actor’s recent Netflix action thriller, Wheelman, from helmer Jeremy Rush. The two launched WarParty a year ago and secured funding this summer for a slate of several forthcoming titles; Wheelman was the first out of WarParty with debut helmer and stunt professional Ben Bray’s El Chicano also in tow, in addition to current developments permearing Carnahan’s reimagining of Indonesian actioner, The Raid.

LETHAL WEAPON 5 Is In The Works; Gibson, Glover And Donner Committed
Last week saw news of the long popular Lethal Weapon franchise central to the talk of a fifth film according to a new report at The Hollywood Reporter as of last week. The word now is that nothing is official although the films’ original stars – Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, and director Richard Donner are on board as things currently stand, along with Channing Gibson following through with a script.
The first of the four-film buddy cop action movie franchise launched in 1987 from Warner Bros., telling of a reluctant and challenged, albeit beneficial partnership and bond between aging L.A. detective Roger Murtaugh (Glover) and an ex-Green Beret and newly transfered narcotics cop, Martin Riggs (Gibson), forged through the kind of life-or-death ride-or-die car chases, explosive action sequences that made Hollywood blockbusters a household name. Previous talk of returning Lethal Weapon to the big screen began a little over ten years ago via reboot with Joel Silver shepherding the process and actor Chris Hemsworth’s name circulating as a possibility to star.
Shane Black was tasked to provide script treatment followed by a retouching with Gangster Squad screenwriter Will Beall in 2011 for Fast And Furious franchise helmer Justin Lin to direct and of course, all that is out of the window with Black head-deep on his new Predator installment and Lin set to helm the ninth installment of Universal Pictures’s Fast And Furious saga. Black also helped advance Fox television’s treatment of Lethal Weapon which premiered last Fall and has since continued with a second season as of September.
I think the return of the old guard for a fifth outing would be a grand idea. The news comes at a time when Sony Pictures is shelving a third theatrical effort for Bad Boys in exchange for a television series centered on Gabrielle Union’s character from Michael Bay’s 2003 sequel, and with Glover and Gibson both very much still working actors and giving Lethal Weapon 5 a nod at this point, it’s a move that makes simple sense.
Granted Glover’s Murtaugh might not be footchasing anyone in the film either but don’t discount Gibson’s Riggs. Jet Li gave these two a run for their money in the last film and that our beaten and bloodied heroes would find themselves in another crazy adventure, imaginably, only excites the fandom further.
Are you up for more Riggs and Murtaugh hamming it up once more at Warner Bros.? Let us know.

Jackie Chan’s DRAGON BLADE Kicks Off Filming With A New Logo
“Dragon Blade officially got underway today in Hengdian with some battle scenes. Filming conditions were difficult, as a combination of heat, heavy costumes and a long day took their toll on cast, crew and extras alike.”
Chan And Gibson Board Daniel Lee's DRAGON BLADE
While legendary action thespian Jackie Chan prepares to debut his latest musical labor of love in the form of new boyband JJCC, the actor is also on his way to the production of a brand new period action flick titled Dragon Blade. The film will mark Chan‘s first time on the big screen with Hollywood actor Mel Gibson after the two were rumored in earlier reports last year as possible choices to appear together in director Patrick Hughes’ upcoming blockbuster release, The Expendables 3, before the latter of the two was solely confirmed.
Directed by Black Mask and 14 Blades helmer Daniel Lee, Dragon Blade will see Chan portraying a Chinese hero who forges a partnership with a Roman legion commander, played by Gibson, to save the world from a greater, ultimate evil. No other details are available for the film which will likely release in 2015.
Chan is currently working on his next big film adventure with co-star Sean William Scott in next year’s release of Skiptrace from director Sam Fell. Gibson will make his next appearance in The Expendables 3 in theaters nationwide on August 15, 2014.
