Not to be confused with Guo Jingming’s latest currently on Netflix, next on deck with director Li Weiran will be The Yin Yang Master, having also landed home at Netflix with global exclusive rights (sans China) per the streamer’s announcement on Tuesday. The Yin Yang Master takes its cues from the popular mobile game, Onmyōji, reuniting Painted Skin: The Resurrection actors Chen Kun and Zhou Xun, as well as the two with producers of said film, Chen Kuo-fu and Chang Chia-lu. To say that Season 3 of COBRA KAI was highly anticipated would be a sheer understatement, as the continuation of this ‘karate saga’ has created incredible momentum since this series was first released in 2018. One of the key strengths of the series is its pacing, and there isn’t a complete reliance on exposition, despite the historical importance of the prior cinematic trilogy. Faced with a mid-production pandemic, L.O.R.D. director and Tiny Times creator Guo Jingming’s latest, The Yin-Yang Master: Dream Of Eternity Arrives, has lived to tell the tale. Netflix announced its acquisition of the Chinese fantasy thriller on Wednesday with a trailer and images in its wake, and is slating a worldwide release on February 5, 2021. The Yin-Yang Master: Dream Of Eternity is based on the 1986 Japanese fantasy novel, Onmyōji, by Baku Yumemakura, and stars Mark Chao and Allen Deng from a script by Guo. Chao plays Qingming, the film’s rendition of the original’s protagonist, Abe no Seimei, the most renowned yin-yang master during the Heian period. It looks like Anthony Mackie will have a stellar launch in 2021 as the Falcon And The Winter Soldier star’s fans can now look toward upcoming sci-fi, Outside The Wire. The first teaser trailer is online joining Mackie with actor Damson Idris for a film by Escape Plan helmer Mikael Hafstrom. Set in the very near future, a disgraced drone pilot (Damson Idris) is sent into a deadly militarized zone where he finds himself working for an android officer (Anthony Mackie) tasked to locate a doomsday device before insurgents do. If you’re all caught up, then you’re already roped in for what looks to be a solid new chapter in the saga ahead of its pending fourth season. Director Lee Eung-bok’s (Mr. Sunshine, Goblin: The Lonely and Great God, Descendants of the Sun) new action horror series now has a trailer streaming as Sweet Home looks to unveil its thrills full-tilt beginning December 18. I actually find the concept here pretty intriguing – used in at least one form or another in previous films and TV shows, it’s all about the execution, and this looks exciting. It’s also great to see No Mercy star Lee Si-young again. Former stuntman-turned-action screenwriter Madison Turner is now the latest subject of Netflix’s latest formal feature film announcement, The Ogun. The streamer signaled on Monday the addition of actor Anthony Mackie (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as star and producer on the new action thriller which also has Jason Michael Berman producing for Mandalay Pictures. The Ogun centers on Mackie in the role of Xavier Rhodes, who brings his teenage daughter to Nigeria to find a cure for the rare genetic condition that he passed on to her. When his daughter is kidnapped, Rhodes goes on a rampage through the criminal underworld to find her before it’s too late, testing his powers to the limit.
