I haven’t bothered reading a lot of the speculative reports pertaining to a hopeful third season of Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix, save for an interview with creator Steve Lightfoot at THR. That said and given the appeal, I’m hard-pressed to believe the fans of the show are disapproving. While not all the Marvel shows are perfect as the scripting generally tends to lag around certain aspects of character development, what’s important is that it ultimately took crafting a series for a fully fleshed-out, entertaining property. This is largely the case for all the Marvel shows, and specifically this particular series shepherded by Steve Lightfoot for Netflix. That’s not to say that some improvements haven’t been made on many aspects of its crafting. It’s Tuesday, January 15, and that means the rarity of watching Korean actor and martial artist Bruce Khan on screen is a rarity no more with the Netflix release of his latest, Revenger. Khan plays a man who infiltrates a remote island prison to partake in a deadly game in order to find his family’s murderer. Lee Seung-won makes his directing debut here with Khan returning to the spotlight since Young Man Kang’s The Last Eve and the 2012 KBS2 drama, The Bridal Mask. I haven’t read the reviews and so like most Westerners who can’t read any Korean reviews for feedback, I’m going into this film albeit blind aside from how impressive the trailers have been in my view. Shadow And Bone was published by Macmillian in 2012 as the first of the Grisha trilogy through 2014. With over 2.5 million copies sold in the English language alone, Bardugo’s Grishaverse books have been translated into 38 languages around the world and counting. Netflix will handle physical production and co-produce with Marty Adelstein’s shared Tomorrow Studios shingle with ITV Studios’. The streaming service teased a peak at the cast in costume for its prison-scenes in a first look photo last week featuring actors Joseph Chang, Bo-Chieh Wang, and Zhou Ming-Fu. Nowhere Man follows the death row inmate Quan who learned of his son being kidnapped while waiting for the execution in jail.
