CraveOnline has exclusively unveiled the latest trailer for Well Go USA’s upcoming release of Once Upon A Time In Shanghai. The film has had its share of mixed reviews but still fares pretty well among fans of legendary action choreographer Yuen Wo Ping whose 2012 promo for the film featuring lead action star Philip Ng was all there was to show for the film’s existence before it was finally released theatrically in Asia this year. Chinese website Oriental Daily forwarded a new small slate of stills and behind-the-scenes pics from director Wong Ching-Po‘s forthcoming release of Once Upon A Time In Shanghai. Revamping a classic story from the Shaw Brothers library, the new film centers around the emergence of an immigrant from Shangtung whose search for a better life lands him in Shanghai where his talents as a skilled fighter may be the deciding factor of his survival or his comeuppance. The film is one of the most hotly-anticipated films to date as it inches its way to a January 10th, 2014 domestic release from Mega Vision Pictures LTD. About a year and a half ago, martial arts cinema fans watched as actor Phillip Ng took the stage and peformed and illustrious flurry of kung fu action for a brand new promo for director Wong Ching-Po‘s upcoming film, Once Upon A Time In Shanghai. Since then, it wasn’t until within recent weeks fans finally got a look at some new poster art, and even better, a small series of viral behind-the-scenes featurettes with footage from the film. After the revealing of a new poster and synopsis, director Wong Ching-Po‘s long-awaited kung fu epic, Once Upon A Time In Shanghai, dealt another sign of life with even more teaser clips from the film, edited together with talking segments from a few of its cast and crew, including lead stars, Phillip Ng and Andy On, and the film’s action director, Yuen Wo-Ping. On Wednesday, Wong’s latest revival to Shaw Brothers territory is now sharing a treat with the public online viewing audience featuring a pulse-pounding fight scene with Ng and On going toe-to-toe, timed only by a burning cigarette. Martial arts action cinema fans have watched and waited for anything and everything resembling a sign of life for Once Upon A Time In Shanghai, a production that only saw a year-and-a-half old promo teaser with lead action star, actor Philip Ng until recently. The film has since shown itself out with new sales art and a synopsis revealed back in early November as the film made the film festival rounds this year. This week, the new film from director Wong Ching-Po now has three viral non-English subtitled featurettes with snippets from the original promo and its behind the scenes segments, speaking segments from the cast and crew, clips from a training montage from 2010 and footage from the actual movie, with the second reel showcasing co-star Andy On‘s evolution as a certified action performer. FilmbizAsia is reporting a multi-territorial acquistion of writer and director Wong Jing‘s upcoming film, From Vegas To Macau. The report arrives months after the film was announced over the summer and completed with lead actor Chow Yun-Fat returning for his fourth appearance as the classic titular character from Wong‘s classic God Of Gamblers franchise. News of the film’s acquistion was made at the top of the festivities with Hong Kong-based Mega Vision Pictures Ltd. closing deals with Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand, in addition to talks for its Taiwan sale and its current allocation to China by way of of Bona Film Group.
