SINNERS opens in theaters this April!
Little was known about the unnamed genre film that Ryan Coogler and his Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan were reuniting for as of January. It’s been hype-inducing, even enough that it ensued a bidding war in which Warner Bros. Pictures came out on top by the following month, and now, the official trailer and key art has been revealed for the new thriller, Sinners, which opens in theaters and IMAX on March 7. From Ryan Coogler—director of “Black Panther” and “Creed”—and starring Michael B. Jordan comes a new vision of fear: “Sinners.” Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers (Jordan) return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. “You keep dancing with the devil, one day he’s gonna follow you home.” Sinners sees Jordan in a dual role here, and […]
The Hollywood Reporter‘s own Borys Kit has confirmed a return at the helm for Ryan Coogler on Black Panther 2 following it’s domestic and global success at the box office. Scripting will begin as early as next year with plans to roll cameras in late 2019 or 2020 while Coogler and Black Panther co-star Michael B. Jordan complete their current efforts on school testing drama, Wrong Answer. Having stood the test of time since 1966 as the Marvel Comics brainchild of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Black Panther affirmed its profile in fine fashion debuting solo on the big screen on February 16. Coogler penned the script with Joe Robert Cole for the character’s continuation after Captain America: Civil War, fully immersing moviegoers around the world into the fictional, otherwise mythical, hidden land of Wakanda. Starring Chadwick Boseman, we meet T’Challa as he embarks on a mission to save his […]
Taika Watiti’s Thor: Ragnarok is still a few weeks out from its release and Marvel is getting its feet dug in amply with its current campaign for Ryan Coogler’s offering, Black Panther. The second official trailer has arrived well and steady for a glimpse into the looming insurrection that awaits our protagonist and his forged alliances, and of course a meaty serving of some feisty cat spectacle. After the events of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakanadan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged […]
Patti Jenkins’s DCEU contribution with Wonder Woman may be ruling the box office for its second weekend, but it’s Marvel that’s riding the wave of hype as of Friday night. Black Panther is finally getting its day in the months leading up to Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War, and with none other than actor Chadwick Boseman making his return to the screen in full Wakandan superhero fashion. Such is what is now being achieved by the first official teaser trailer debut on Friday night ahead of the film’s February 16, 2018 release – assuring folks following the MCU (especially after Avengers: Age Of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War) a protagonist that is definitely in service of his own arc much like his fellow hero counterparts. Ryan Coogler, who wrote the film with Joe Robert Cole, directs the film which also rejoins him with Fruitvale Station and Creed star […]
Marvel/Disney Creed helmer Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther began filming in recent days ahead of its February 16, 2018 release, but Marvel only decided on Thursday to officially announce it. The news comes just several days after the Russo Brothers revealed production start a la set pic for Avengers: Infinity War and with actor Chadwick Boseman front and center as the famed Wakandan superhero now on par for some screentime, following this year’s Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol. 2 and Thor: Ragnarok, plot details and cast names are all available below. Read on: BURBANK, CALIF. (JANUARY 26, 2017) —Marvel Studios announced today that production has begun on BLACK PANTHER, starring Chadwick Boseman (“Captain America: Civil War,” “Get on Up”), Michael B. Jordan (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”), Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” “12 Years a Slave”), Danai Gurira (“The Walking Dead,” upcoming “All Eyez on Me”), Martin Freeman […]
Yes, we still have more Comic-Con news, and yes, that means more comic book movie coverage, particularly in the wake of the Russo Bros.’ Captain America: Civil War which first introduced us to actor Chadwick Boseman in the role of Black Panther. Marvel has dated a standalone film for its installment into their third leg of the MCU with a release set for February 16, 2018, and with all things Comic-Con this weekend from Marvel, more casting news came in the form of a tweet from Boseman revealing The Walking Dead co-star Danai Gurira as part of the cast. It’s official. #BlackPanther #SDCC2016 pic.twitter.com/0Cs3kkZldQ — Chadwick Boseman (@chadwickboseman) July 24, 2016 Ryan Coogler (front/center) is directing from a script written by himself and writer Joe Robert Cole, Boseman will reprise his role once more as the Wakandan prince-cum-superhero as created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966. Actor Chadwick Boseman is currently reigning at the box office having just debuted as Black Panther in Captain America: Civil War and the forthcoming solo film for which he’s been slated is due to start filming early next year. As such, casting is currently underway and with acclaimed actress Lupita Nyong’o now gearing up for a possible role as the title character’s love interest as of Thursday. On Friday, word now brings straight from THR that actor Michael B. Jordan is being tapped for a role as well with reason to speculate that it would be to play a villain. The film would mark a third reunion for Jordan who has packaged nothing short of winning titles under director Ryan Coogler whose attachment was confirmed earlier this year amid the buzz of their latest film together, Creed, which could very well be on the way for a sequel at MGM. […]
In case you’ve been living under a rock as I have as of the bottom of last year with all the downtime in the world, it was finally confirmed at the bottom of 2015 that Creed and Fruitvale Station helmer Ryan Coogler was in talks to direct Marvel’s Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman has already made headlines with his official attachment to portray the character which will appear this May in Captain America: Civil War, all while names were being shuffled as hopefuls to direct the forthcoming comic book adaptation. Alas, it wasn’t official then, but it’s official now, as per Marvel’s latest announcement: It’s official, Marvelites: Ryan Coogler will step up to direct Marvel’s “Black Panther,” in theaters February 16, 2018! Chadwick Boseman will star in “Black Panther” after debuting as the character in the upcoming Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War,” in theaters May 6. “We are fortunate to have […]
Over the weekend, Sylvester Stallone won a Golden Globe award for his supporting role as an aged Rocky Balboa in his latest page-turning signature boxing drama, Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan. This, coupled with an onslaught of upworthy reviews and a box-office total of $105 million dollars, is all very reassuring of prospective talks for a sequel, and accordingly, MGM CEO Gary Barber is making it so. Barber confirmed to Variety in a new report on Monday that while an official date is not set in stone, a follow-up could arrive as soon as 2017 with Jordan returning as the son of Rocky cinematic mainstay, Apollo Creed who starred in the first four films of the boxing saga. The talk is also that in this case, the plan for a plot may well include having actor Carl Weathers portray him in some capacity according to ideas presented by Creed helmer […]
Go and see director Ryan Coogler’s latest film, Creed, and you can get a pretty good idea of just why it is he’s been the talk of the town for the last few weeks. The film’s explosive and riveting delivery of the underdog tale that follows the son of one of the Rocky franchise’s most iconic characters has drawn significant attention to the production in lieu of any prospects of a sequel as the film currently stands at well over $60 million gross since its Thanksgiving release. More to the point, it’s shined a light on Coogler for the potential to branch out to Marvel as their newest hopeful to helm the 2018 release of their Phase three staple, Black Panther – perhaps with specific regard to the notion that clearly the award-winning filmmaker of this and his preceding hit film, Fruitvale Station, clearly showcases that he knows how to […]
Today’s age of remakes and reboots is not without its share of criticisms. Some fans are hardliners and purists about their favorite franchises and largely choose not to have them reobserved in any way shape or fashion, which can both be a good and a bad thing despite many opinions. For the instance of the launch of the next installation of the Rocky saga, Creed, this is most certainly a good thing, notwithstanding its explosive opening weekend at the box office. The film takes its cues directly from that of its predecessors with a new face on the frontline and it does so in a way that respects its origins with an adherance to substance over style and a look ready to engage a new era of moviegoers. Michael B. Jordan, back once again with director Ryan Coogler following their accolades hugely earned in the 2012 biopictoral drama, Fruitvale Station, […]
With any luck, director Ryan Coogler’s latest inheritance of cinematic glory, Creed, will bode well enough for fans of the Rocky saga to garner a sequel and a franchise equally deserving of its own. It’s worth considering to what with its DNA comprising principally of Sylvester Stallone now in a supporting role next to lead Michael B. Jordan as he stakes his claim as the son of fallen character, Apollo Creed. There are loads of substance here and considering Coogler’s acclaim with his previous hit, Fruitvale station, I think Philidelphia Mayor Michael Nutter’s announcement of “Creed Day” will be awesomely rewarding in its own right, with some good box office prospects to top it all off. And on the eve of Thanksgiving too? Beautiful. Standing atop the Philadelphia Art Museum’s iconic steps, Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter proclaimed Wednesday, November 25th “Creed” Day in honor of the upcoming film—opening that […]
I don’t know about anyone else, but I would like to think that the concept of the classic Rocky character, Apollo Creed, eventually had children who could later forsee an entrance into the Rocky saga. This is at least one thing mentioned in the latest featurette for the upcoming spin-off, Creed, reuniting star Michael B. Jordan with director Ryan Coogler, now joining franchise mainstay Sylvester Stallone who co-stars. The film aims to take viewers into a new layer in the storyline with Jordan in the role of the troubled son whose father dies in Rocky IV (honestly, that film came out thirty years ago and if you haven’t seen that film yet and feel spoiled by this entry as already given in the trailers, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life). Coogler‘s script also introduces a few new characters that even help fortify the younger Creed’s story, with […]
Remaking, rebooting or sequelizing classic hit films can always feel like a gamey thing to try and achieve. However, a concentrated effort with central focus on all the right ingredients can lead to great things. Take this to heart when contemplating the last 39 years and what filmmaker John G. Avildsen and actor Sylvester Stallone accomplished with the breakout hit film, Rocky, a true underdog story at its core with boxing as its main centerpiece. The franchise that followed with five more movies up until 2006 embody just the kind of legacy a great film can carry for its fans; Symbolically, it’s the same amount of weight we now see being lived on through newly-added Michael B. Jordan now taking the lead under director Ryan Coogler for the new spin-off, Creed. We’ve already seen at least one trailer so far, so we now know what we’re in for and clearly […]
Close to forty years since actor Sylvester Stallone paved the way for one of his biggest most successful movie franchises to date, his latest puts new blood into the ring that nonetheless aims at revitalizing the spirit and tone of a young and driven protagonist. For this, we seek to wonder if Fruitvale Station helmer, Ryan Coogler‘s latest, Creed, will begin to accomplish what four decades have done for Stallone in the longstanding Rocky saga, though it’s safe to suggest that our leading man, Michael B. Jordan, has stepped up to the plate and is, as much of this may sound as a pun to many, going for it! SYNOPSIS: From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures comes award-winning filmmaker Ryan Coogler’s “Creed.” The film explores a new chapter in the “Rocky” story and stars Academy Award nominee Sylvester Stallone in his iconic role. The film also reunites Coogler with his “Fruitvale […]
