THE HIT LIST: September 3, 2018
As I write this, I find myself in the midst of what might as well be a Monday morning considering how suddenly busy I am…
As I write this, I find myself in the midst of what might as well be a Monday morning considering how suddenly busy I am…
It looks like it’s gonna be another crazy few weeks going forward. The review stuff is piling up a little on top of the other coverage I’m doing so I’ll do my best to keep The Hit List consistent unless I need another emergency break in between.
I definitely wanted to hit the snooze button a bit this weekend, but I eventually found myself busy reviewing stuff and even catching up on Netflix’s latest Shaw Bros. additions (and frankly I couldn’t be happier)…
My weekend was a slow one, but I’m happy to have kept my mind a little busy with some posting. Season seven of Voltron: Legendary Defender was absolutely stellar and I can’t wait to see how the final season bookends such a virbrant, energizing sci-fi tale.
My weekend was a bum one so there’s not much to add there. Apart from The Hit List, I did manage to get some pieces done for this new website of ours as tweaks and fixes are still being made behind the scenes and I have to credit Eileen for being the wind beneath my wings that are my fingers. She’ll never stop being incredible as there is no cure for it. Pity. ?
I’ve written all this on three hours of sleep after an awesome Saturday evening. Still in recovery, yes, but nonetheless willing and able to keep the Hit List action going for another week!
Managed to get a few things done this weekend including enjoying a few others screeners – one for a film that was supposed to be out this month but will be releasing this Fall instead and I’ll bring some news about that in the weeks ahead.
Well… the summer heat is setting in. If anyone needs me, I’ll be crowding the A.C. at home ?…Or at the movies. Preferably the latter.
Top (L to R): Andrei Nazarenko, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Branden Arnold, Kiera O’Connor, Veto Swarn
Bottom (L to R): Charlit Decharkhom, Kwang Bin, Sherry Rene, Ari Loeb, Troy Butler
Of course, things will heat up as usual with our weekly installment of the Hit List and thus, we begin as always with a round of stunning demo reels from some of today’s best and rising talents in stunt performance and cinematic action. Vinny O’Brien gets things started this week followed by Sherry Rene, Ari Loeb, J.D. Garcia, Niahlah Hope, Garreth Hadfield, Austin Durden, Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez, Lance Brazil, Nikkilette Wright, Christian Petersson, Takahashi Hiroshi, Margaryta Soldatova, Girvan “Switch” Bramble, a nostalgic lookback at the work of Felix and Lorenz Hideyoshi for YoungMasters, and the the talent feats of action as shown in a new reel for Switzerland-based Sammali Design.
As far as promotional items go, there’s only one and it’s with a final poster for Ryan Connolly’s new short, BALLiSTTIC. Once more, plot details are nil but the trailer is fantastic and bodes something exciting for its release this Wednesday. Check out the poster below and check out the link at the far bottom to last week’s Hit List for the trailer, or simply click here and sub to the Facebook fan page and view it these.
There’s nothing else in the way with promotional gems, but I thought I’d tidy up a little on the parkour end with some smooth POV freerunnimg jams courtesy of Nick Ortiz. Joined by Ampisound in his efforts, Ortiz brings us what he calls The Descent Project. He does a lot of that, and running, and then some. Et voila!
Without further ado, time to get straight to the fight action this week. Kiera O’Connor weighs in opposite Kwang Bin for some choreography workshop time from Vlad Rimburg while we next get to introduce ourselves to Tristan Corrigan’s channel with his two most recent shorts, Repeat and Pay Your Debt.
Branden Arnold and Troy Butler get in some Gun Fu from Joseph Ray Roark prior to checking out what Bobby James and performers Pat Chu and choreographer Jenin Gonzalez did at Midnight. From there we get to observe the subbed, old-school, OTT kung fu shenanigans in Drug Den Master from Asian film stuntman, performer and director Jude Poyer and starring Andrei Nazarenko and Craig Miller, and the unsubbed action and drama over at 777 Raw Street’s latest, The Resignation Letter.
Writer and director John Pollock’s new release has been a long time coming given his testimony in this description. This one is called Honour, and though it’s not as fight-heavy as most of what we get going in the Hit List, I can’t say this one doesn’t entertain with its visual and contemplative, more artful approach. It’s a little different, but I like it.
I also liked Tomires Ribeiro’s newest short, Punhos e Leis (Fists And Laws), freshly out of Brazil and with Renan Medeiros and Bruno Carmo playing two rivaling pickpockets vying for the same street, and thus, there can be one!
Press play below and enjoy!

Bottom (L to R): Nilkilette Wright, Jenin Gonzalez, Vinny O’Brien, Renan Medeiros, Margaryta Soldatova
Things ran a little light this week so we’ll see how next Monday goes unless I decide to take another break which might leave some room for more content to arrive. Until then, sub to the channels and SHARE the Hit List with friends, and visit last week’s entries if you’d like to see more of where these goods came from.
Also, if you or someone you know has an equally cool new demo or project that needs promoting or sharing, feel free to run it by us at filmcombatsyndicate@gmail.com.
My weekend was a total blank so any weekend fun will have to wait until further notice. The Sense8 finale was great though and I highly recommend it.
TOP: Vanessa Cater, Nick Clapuci, Brendon Huor, Cameron Early, Taylor Krasne
Bott: Rustic B., Gee “Lil’ Bomb” Jay, Marie Fink, Wilson Sze, Jon Alagoa
The Hit List, however, remains priority this week and so it goes with a nifty round of the latest reels from some of today’s best and burgeoning action actors and stunt performers, starting with Blindsided: The Game star Eric Jacobus who just rolled out his latest reel on Monday via Vimeo. Following that is a playlist comprised of reels from Marie Fink, Rustic Bodomov (a.k.a. Rustic B.), Glenn Chow, Joshua Romeo, Thomas Watson, Jen Bennett, Cameron Early, Wilson Sze, Alexander Kushch, Taylor Krasne, Spencer Davis, Kyle Murillo, Chad Mason, Vanessa Cater and co-star of the newly released action thriller, The Debt Collector, David William No!
Promotional goods are light this week but they now come in the form of stills from an upcoming threequel of shorts titled Kiwami, inspired by the Ryū ga Gotoku video game franchise. Stunt performer Jon Alagoa shared a few stills from the project which also enlists Sabine Kviste, Ishigaki Shinji, Cameron Sam and Danny Darwin among the cast. Beneath that is a teaser for Oliver Hollingdale’s John Wick: Prologue following an announcement last October from the Sunnymeade Films channel, and Sugar Crash, the latest brainchild film production from Devon Doyle and filmmaker James Couche and said to promise a whole lot of noir and action scenes – something I think we can all accommodate here, methinks.
KIWAMI 3: STILLS
The action gets a hard and heavy start with Vlad Rimburg. Having proven himself to be one of the most respected and dedicated fight choreographers and filmmakers of his craft for close to two decades, he continued to show his chops with the third and latest installment of the Osu series – one that artistically explores the esoteric philosophies that often bode as universal, hereto otherwise in a realm where hard-hitting, epic battles between Karatekas are both the foundation, as well as the message.
Rimburg’s Osu trilogy kicks off the playlist prior to Andy Whitmarsh‘s latest 30-second bout of experimentation with Jimmy Burgoa Chocó Coco and James Rapson, followed by a newly revealed group fight concept by Tolga Degirmen, and one featuring Nick Clapuci with Christopher Lewis Dunston, Film Combat Syndicate favorite Joseph Le with Cina McKenna and Daniel Son, Lazy Fox Productions’ Justin Antero with shoot ’em up thriller Datastream, some of Nepal’s best in stunt performance with Rohan Jirel, Pema Dorje Lama and Samir Jung K.C. for Kidnapper, and Art School Dropouts’ latest ode to Tokusatsu and legendary dad-heroics with Homemade Hero G starring Gee “Lil’ Bomb” Jay.
Rounding it all out is an extended version of Rising Tiger Films’ Yokosuka Blues: A Shenmue Story. The group released a 10-minute version of the Sega Dreamcast game-inspired fan project back in January and now they’ve gone and doubled down for a twenty-minute offering for more character development leading up to Leroy Nguyen in the role of Goro-san hitting hard and fast in the fight finale to redeem himself against a trio of usupers led by none other than Joseph Le. Rising Tiger Films, the team behind award-winning feature action drama, Black Scar Blues, is certainly one of many groups I’ve kept my eye on in all of nearly fifteen years with independent action and they’ve always entertained.
Enjoy the playlist below and be sure to visit last week’s Hit List for more amazing online indie action content.
TOP: Tolga Degirmen, Joseph Le, David William No, Spencer Davis, Andy Whitmarsh
BOTTOM: Alexander Kushch, Christopher Lewis Duncan, Cina McKenna, Nate Hitpas, Tony Vittorioso
…And, if you or someone you know is a staunch, talented filmmaker with a wealth of knowledge in action on film who has a project that needs either promoting or sharing, run it by us at filmcombatsyndicate@gmail.com!
My energy level was sputtering all weekend. I had some much needed fun though and got to decompress and meet some new and beautiful people. Happy start to my summer.
L to R (top): Masami Kosaka, J.C. Leuyer, Sadiqua Bynum, Cyrus Leisy, Bobby Nickels
L to R (bottom): Sonalii Castillo, Peter Syckelmoore, Seydina Balde, Frans Steyn, Sarah Chang
I’m also where the independent action and stunts are as we commence with this week’s return of the Hit List after a period of catching up and a little more rest in between. We begin with the familiar name of Judit Szvia and I couldn’t be more proud to start her at the top of this week’s playlist of stunt and athetic reels followed by contributions from Ryan Robertson, Darin Hicks, Cyrus Leisy, Peter Syckelmoore, Sadqiua Bynum, Frans Steyn, Robert Linden, Lexter Santana and J.C. Leuyer.
Promotional items are quite a handful with Kamen Ramen Studios off and promoting their June 7 online Tokusatsu short, Homemade Hero G starring Gee “Lil’ Bomb” Jay, and actor and filmmaker Sam Puefua’s latest offering to neon-lit female-centric revenge thrills with the Oniros Film Fest-selected Mamba starring Sonalii Castillo.
Third in the playlist is a teaser for a television/webseries proof of concept that garnered my interest for a few weeks before I heard back from its star, actor and martial artist Seydina Balde. Protection Fantome is the name with Seydina leading the story of an officer whose elite witness protection agency out for retribution against a powerful criminal organization when he fails for the first time.
Last and WAY FAR from least is the official trailer for The Division, a short-form proof of concept making it’s way to exclusive screenings in London this summer. It’s the latest brainchild of film and fighting duo, actors Jean-Paul Ly and Law Plancel and you are more than welcome to read all about the details by clicking here as well.
Following that are some pictorals straight from Instagram, firstly with a raft of on-set production stills from Bobby Nickels’ latest piece of work, Flux Action. This was a project that Bobby himself launched crowdfunding for last summer and a year later, this little independent feat is nearing the finish line before going into post-production.
Below is at least one still of several you can now catch at Instagram, while the second photo just beneath hails from actress Kerry Lacy who is currently on the way with a second chapter to follow up Stacey Maltin’s thrilling character study, Viola, which brings us to this week’s action treats from around the web and thus, we begin with the aforementioned inaugural shortfilm thriller that got some festival attention in the past year or so before being quietly released online. Stuntman Paul Varrachi who coordinates the calamity in the second half, plays opposite Kerry in a tale that delves into the dark confessionals of a woman who, in a word or more, is, well… pretty sick of everyone’s shit. Paul plays a fugitive rapist on the loose and as narratives like these usually go, it doesn’t end well for one of these two.
Bobby Nickels in FLUX ACTION
Kerry Lacy in VIOLA 2
Viola is currently prohibited from viewing on other sites, so click here to watch it in full. Beyond that, it’s off to the races this week for the playlist in tow and with plenty of fisticuffs to make the rounds courtesy of filmmaker, action actor and stuntman Marques Zaror with performances by Zaror himself along with Branden Arnold, Pat Chu, Rabon Hutcherson II, Darin Hicks, Mark Hudson, Cycerli Ash, Amber Lamarca and many, many more.
Zhanna Sattseva and PeiPei Alana Yuan keep the monentum going with a short interlude of their own followed by K Dynamique’s OTT proof of concept, G1NMAN KILL with music by Tom Konidas, Hymson Chan shepherds the action and comedy in Where’s A Cop When You Need One?, the almighty Bryan Sloyer contains his kill zone in Night Watch, Joseph Roark reaps what he sows in revenge short, Unforgiven with the aforementioned Branden Arnold, Tolga Degirmen with a small band of players led by Kai Fung Rieck for action concept, Slice And Shoot and Anton Simpson-Tidy kills ’em all in Ashley Beck’s anime-inspired Afro Samurai: Vexed.
Second to last is the amazing jidaigeki shortfilm opus, Sword Of The Dead whose director, Stephen Vitale was recently the subject of an interview you can also now catch here. Last and far from least is the inaugural outing of Jeremy Weiss’ thrilling new short, The Teacher, filmed at the vast and newly-opened Wanda Film Studios in China and starring Sarah Chang forced to whip out her syllabus of fists and fury to lay the past to rest one last time.
This is a really fun playlist if you ask me. Enjoy it all!
L to R (top): Zhanna Sattsaeva, Kai Fung Rieck, Cycerli Ash, Anton Simpson-Tidy, PeiPei Alena Yuan

Last and far from least by way of Vimeo is my birthday tribute to Vlad Rimburg, an independent filmmaker and fight choreography auteur who has been able to expand his horizons over the years assisting a number of industry professionals around the world. His craft, however, lies in the interests that many like myself share dating back to his online roots, notably with the acclaimed 2011 shortfilm, Yo Soy Un Hombre Loco.
Enjoy the trailers!
Well, it’s been a weekend for anyone and everyone who’s been to the movies to see Avengers: Infinity War. My time won’t be for another week though, so I definitely made some use of the time I had while at work.
L to R (top): Cassandra Ebner, David Lavallee Jr., Ming Na-Wen, Cameron Early, Lee Chesley
L to R (bottom): Alex Hashioka, Michelle Rodriguez, Anthony Hoang, Brea Schneider, Jason Cavalier
And thus, it’s another week and another chapter as The Hit List rolls on with playlists of stunt and training reels, promotional goods and short film goods from some of today’s curious and gifted in creating action on film, and not for nothing either. Stuntwoman and B-girl Lee Chesley gets our first playlist started with her latest reel followed by Ricky Lawson, Kaanchana Kerr, Patrick Schmeikal, R.J. Howard, Sadiqua Bynum, Daniel Elman, Brea Schneider and Olivier Lunardi. Rounding out the playlist is a new company reel by Film Combat Syndicate, Ronin Visual Action, and in what could only be viewed as a necessary addition of the ceremonial reel featuring the honorees of the 2018 Artemis Women In Action Film Festival.
Hit it!
In our midst of things to promote, Chinese media outlets have been stirring news over the production of a new short film on the horizon. Plot details are unknown about The Teacher, which is otherwise directed by Jeremy Weiss and stars none other than Chinese-American actress and martial artist Sarah Chang. The new short which opens in late May, hails the official Grand Opening of Wanda Film Studios in Qingdao, China with DJI Creative Studio and Wanda Pictures partnering for the new action short. Chang appears in a several forthcoming titles from director Vincent Soberano, including The Trigonal which is set to screen at Cannes. Hat tip to Soberano himself for the share via QQ!
I’ve been off-and-on in touch with filmmaker Dom Fred who has had a few gems shared on The Hit List in the past. As of last week it seems he’s gotten himself another gem on the horizon with tournament drama, The Legend, telling of the daughter of a late kumite champion who ventures into the secluded, hidden fighting circuit to prove herself once and for all. The trailer itself seems pretty promising for a shortfilm now forthcoming, and I’ll be well on top of it when it goes live.
That trailer is the first of two this week with the second attributed to the work of writer and director Raphaël Hébert. His latest short, Past And Future Kings became a noted favorite, earning him the Gold Prize for Best Canadian Short Film at last year’s Fantasia Festival, and for that, it’s festival circuitry continues. I had the pleasure of screening the film myself courtesy of star, actor and stuntman Jason Cavalier who leads the timeless epic centered on a medieval king, beleagured by what the future holds should he accept the crown.
I’m inclined to cover this a little more as well. Moreover though, for as long as the five years Cavalier has been following my posts, it’s about damn time I got to share some of his work a little more prolifically.
Check out both trailers in the playlist below!
Jefferson Lewis III’s got a new move to test his might with over at Fight Scene Machine, kicking off the fights and films segment followed by Nong Nachampassack who clearly needs to leave Ricky Barksdale‘s headphones alone in their new video, and Steven Chan and Veto Swarn pursue their hunger for the last Krispy Krime in the room courtesy of Brazen Action Design.
Cameron Early and Bryan Dodds settle their differences in a knife fight arbitrated by choreographer Narayan Cabral, Darren Holmquist plays High School Bully to Ethan S. Orbach over at Dardrex Productions, and Anthony Hoang and Allison Pineault weigh in with a test fight of their own from David Lavallee Jr.
Kai Young and Jon Beal throwdown with the sharp stuff as well while Screw Attack gives more to the fanservice between blind fighting character favorites, Marvel’s Daredevil and Mortal Kombat’s Kenshi, Alexey Minaev gathers a hungry raft of stunt talent in Russia for practice action short, Wild Forest, and a better-late-than-never addition to the Hit List this week for Micah Moore’s all-stuntman-starring Video Game Stunt Tribute with Alex Hashioka, Billy Bussey, Matt Schieb, Ben Aycrigg, Billy Bussey and Tang Nguyen.
Rounding it all out this week is Chintya Candranaya once more as she battles her way out of criminal captivity and a drug-induced haze in the sixth installment of her Lady Of Fury series of shorts.
Enjoy the hits!
L to R (top): Danielle Burgio, Veto Swarn, Ben Aycrigg, Billy Bussey, Allison Pineault

There are definitely some gems that I came across this week but didn’t at all have time to look at. Those may go up next week so we’ll see what happens. For now, hit up last week’s entries if you missed them, subscribe to the channels and SHARE the Hit List with friends, and if you or someone you know has a potential shorrfilm hit on hands, hit us up at filmcombatsyndicate@gmail.com
“I wasn’t really sure of what I wanted to do in life, let alone in film.” he tells us. “I tried it all and one day someone told me that I should try getting into stunts and then years later I was doing stunts for films and TV, eventually that led me to acting.”
I’m pondering taking next weekend off for the Hit List. As it stands I have a few screeners that need screening and reviewing and I haven’t at all had the time for them. Plus, a little extra time for myself would be spiffy.
L to R (top): Adele Elasmar, Marrese Crump, Amber Lamarca, Troy Butler, Amy Johnston
L to R (bottom): Noel Schefflin, Monique Ganderton, John Wood, Niahlah Hope, Timothy Eulich
Of course, all that could change depending on the content of the coming week and if it’s too good to hold back, you can expect another entry online stunts and hits. For now, its the 16th of April and back hand-springing in her element is stuntwoman Niahlah Hope for the inaugural reel of this week’s stunt playlist.
Rounding it all out are reels by Max Laferriere, Thaddeus McQueen, John Wood, Amber Lamarca, Ivan Kasnyov, Nakamura Koji, Bryan Dodds, Beni Alexander, Attilla Kiss, Sarah Laidler, Joseph Roark and StormFreerun with a cinematic display of parkour feats featuring athlete Charlie Havill. Last and far from least is a share from Vimeo with a cool fight reel by Timothy Eulich.
Timothy Eulich Fight Coordinator from Timothy Eulich on Vimeo.
Off to promote some stuff!
Beneath is a playlist with two promos and the first hails from actor and martial artist Marrese Crump of The Protector 2 fame now back and stirring the hype a little more with Cash, and upcoming webseries from Diallo Frazier. Following that is a humble update from action cinema favorite, Accident Man actress Amy Johnston following up with a number of updates coinciding with her channel and in conjunction with her latest series, Hero Training, in which she brings aboard fellow entertainment performance artists and stunt players to highlight health, wellness and training methods.
Lastly and greatly is Johnny Balazs, now ramping up at Indiegogo to crowdfund tactical revenge thriller, Night Shift. Several gems have alreasy emerged online courtesy of Balazs at Prima Lux Films, hinting at the style action that will entail with actress Adele Elasmar training hard for the role as production nears.
Balazs is best known for gaining notoriety at multiple festivals in the past year for his stylish, hard-hitting hitman thriller, Dancer, and now looks toward bringing Night Shift centerstage with a worthwhile heroine front and center, and furthermore, with your help suited to equal perks available for you here.
Vimeo played a major role this week in nabbing some accidental finds for the Fights and Films section. Bangkok Dangerous star Daniel O’Neill’s starring role in Matt Routledge’s 2016 thriller, Fixer, was a winning center of attention at producer Soo Cole’s inaugural Fighting Spirit Film Festival and last year’s HBO Urban Action Showcase. It’s an anomaly as to why I’ve only just spotted it this weekend but…better late than never.
The same goes for The Compass Rose from sibling film duo, the Dell Sisters – Producer Elizabeth and writer/director Emily. The two won Best Action at the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival in 2014 with stunt talent, actresses Tara Macken and Monique Ganderton; The two also front their own stunt and fight sequencing central to the ministory about one fugitive’s connection to missing letters, and an organization rooted in an enigmatic tattoo.
Both of these amazing projects kick off this week’s Fights and Films section in fitting fashion!
Daniel O’Neill – FIXER (Official Movie) from Daniel O’Neill on Vimeo.
THE COMPASS ROSE from Emily Dell on Vimeo.
Bookending this week’s Hit List is a playlist full of practice fight and thrilling shortform content. Ukraine-based XGST has a pair of vids now up and running, followed by Jefferson Lewis III trading blows in a few new entries this week – one opposite Troy Butler, and in a seperate spy-themed gem with Katie Kramer, and two comedy shorts from Lucia Ordaz’s channel, The Bodyguard and Roomie’s Rules and Regulations.
Matt Philiben gets his game on with a little help from Lo Lieh in Code Of The Dim Mak, and actress and martial artist Chintya Candranaya makes her return to the Hit List this for a second week in a row courtesy of Chevrolet with Silat Assassin 2. Following that is Project 7, a gritty throwback that looks as spectacular as I recently found it, hailing from 2010 as an Action On Film Festival favorite from director Vincent Gatinaud the talented creatives at Cascade Demo Team.
Next on the roster is Fury Fingers, having stepped up to the plate for a roaring fan film inspired by Ubisoft’s latest Far Cry installment with Far Cry: Baptism Of Fire. The Ubisoft Australia-backed fan thriller is directed by Nicholas Cleary who stars along with Hjalmar Marteinsson, Diane Dee Kalei and Eliott Howard.
Last and far from least is actor Noel Schefflin, front and center for Robot Underdog’s most recent rollout of the new unauthorized DC Comics/Stephen King hybrid fan film, Red Hoot: IT. The short is shepherded by film duo Hisonni Johnson and Alberto Triana, and with Jeremy Boone starring and voicing and the prolific balloon-teasing killer clown among a few surprise appearances in this latest fan-driven labor of gruesome joy.
L to R (top): Matt Philliben, Lucia Ordaz, Nicholas Cleary, Tara Macken, Max Laferrier

Last week’s entries are a fun gathering as well. Endulge and don’t forget to sub to the channels and share The Hit List with friends! Also, if you have an amazing demo reel or a project that needs promoting or sharing, send it to us at filmcombatsyndicate@gmail.com and we’ll be happy to vet it!
Honestly, if it were up to me, I would have stayed in bed, Netflixing and sleeping this past weekend. (Sigh…) If only, right?…
L to R (top): Glenn Somera, Geoffrey Boggs, Alex Marshall-Brown, Zak Self, Branden Arnold
L to R (bottom): Megan Le, Darin Hemmer, Darin Hicks, Temujin Shirzada, Leandro Mayor Martinez
At any rate, another week is upon us and once more, we’re back to highlighting some of today’s top and rising talent in stunts and action with another installment of the Hit List. Battle B-Boy co-star Megan Le tops this week’s playlist with a fitting track from Frankie Valli and the Four Season that had me dancing in my seat. Following that are reels from Eric C. Sun, Zak Self, Kai Fung Rieck, Eddie JY Lee, Andrew Long, Sarah Schulte, Andrew Nadanyi, Anna Yosin, Jim Ellason, Miyashiki Akio, Jonathan Yurco, Kellie Victoria Scarangello, Narayan Cabral, Sher Juraev, and Creative Rising’s Glenn Somera with an action director’s reel to finish off on a tasty high note.
Just a couple of items outline this week’s promotional gems and we begin with another sweet new pre-viz sampler from director Johnny Balasz in lieu of the coming production of Night Shift with actress Adele Elasmar front and center. You can peep a little more action in addition to current updates by clicking here.
Another quick look at some of the fight previz that we are doing for our new film Night Shift. Just to think 8 weeks ago our lead actress @adeleelasmar had no experience whatsoever in screen fighting or combat in general. This is a testament not only to her but the amazing team we have. This is only a small section of the fight so we’re saving the best for the film. This scene will take place on a rooftop in the Melbourne CBD. #nightshift #nightshiftfilm #womeninfilm #girlfight #martialarts #mixedmartialarts #actionfilm #aussieaction

Last is a trailer that sees the return of actress Alex Marshall-Brown (Brix And The Bitch) to the Hit List in Rand Behr’s new shortfilm, No Trace. Marshall-Brown and actor James Kyson (Heroes, Preacher) headline the pic for its upcoming Artemis Film Festival premiere, centered on a bank robber in cahoots with the mob and on the run from her former detective partners following a successful heist.
The Artemis Film Festival kicks off on April 26. Until then, the trailer itself has some domain restrictions so peep the poster below, then then click here and take a look.
LUMIX
This week presents a sweet reprisal as well as something different in the fights and films section, and you’ll know it from the artwork below.
The playlist kicks off with Darin Hemmer taking Geoffrey Boggs to the mat before Action Movie Makers makes way to the Hit List with Philippe Deseck lensing some pre-viz action of his own with Darko Tsukan coordinating, and Branden Arnold front and center for some bo-staff and stunt practice from Marques Zaror over at Bridgette Michelle’s channel.
Stunt players Stuart Williamson amd Craig McCrae keep the momentum going with some pre-viz sword-and-shieldplay making a grand case for viewers to watch Netflix period drama Troy: Fall Of A City, while Slade Lemieux Hallet helms a woeful test of endurance for a small film crew on the brink in Fight No Flight For Film. Temujin Shirzada singles out the key, unrelenting fight sequence with Leandro Mayor Martinez from February shortfilm, Fatal Blades, and the official LUMIX channel brings aboard director Sam K.J. for PvP, an epic, neon-lit tale starring Yoshi Sudarso and choreographer Alvin Hsing at the center of an epic arcade rivalry between two jukebox heroes who are too cool to be in the room!
Following that is the latest vid packed with freerunning feats over at the Urbanamadei fanpage, and UK-based animator Paul Johnson (Star Wars: TIE Fighter) delivers a fresh and spectacular shortfilm inspired by all that 70s and 80s babies know and love about going to an arcade alley in Retro Arcade Anime: R-Type.
Rounding it all out is the full edit of Christian Kohnke’s shortfilm sequel, I’m Out Johnny 2.0. Tanay Genco Ulgen directs with Kohnke joined by Aidan Pringle in the title role as the gangster to beat for one man fighting his way out of the underworld.
Kohnke released the sequel initially in two parts last month following the initial four-minute thriller last May. For those entirely new to it, enjoy yourself in the playlist below with I’m Out Johnny 2.0 bookending this week’s Hit List.
L to R (top): Amadei Weiland, Kellie Victoria Scarangello, Eddie J.Y. Lee, Anna Yosin, Jonathan Yurco
