Better late than never, I guess. Folks who are subscribed to Tubi and wondering if any updates were made to director Ranjeet Marwa’s Exiled: The Chosen Ones following the streamer’s recent release of an uncolored version can now take a gander at it in a more color-corrected and finished format. I previously screened the film for a second time upon its Tubi release and in my review, I disclosed that the version the platform published looked like an unfinished film rushed to its release. Marwa took to the film’s Instagram account in a post the other day, citing a partial quote from my review while informing fans that his team “has worked around the clock to ensure that the version delivered to Tubi is much better.” Indeed it does. As for my review, barring this latest update, I still stand by my artistic and technical critiques. By all means, however, […]
Amazon Prime users in Germany, the U.K. and the U.S. will be among audiences to firstly catch Ranjeet S. Marwa’s new film, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, with an official trailer now online ahead of its streaming launch set for July 14. The film is written by Marwa and stars Sunny Pang as a Yakuza enforcer who awakens in a locked-down prison facility housing other inmates, all subject to a deadly game of survival where the rich place their bets. Fans already saw a trailer launch last year while Marwa segued onto upcoming cyberpunk thriller, Rupture, with Exiled having been in negotiations with buyers until an acquisition was made official. Khan also served as fight choreographer on Exiled in addition to Pang with whom he shares an action-packed fight finale on screen, which also marks their first venture together going forward as Marwa ramps up his next Pang starrer, Blind Wolf. […]
Consider this a heads-up if you’re eagerly awaiting the latest on Singaporean actor Sunny Pang. With Gareth Evans’ Havoc on deck from Netflix, the actor is now suiting up as a blind government assassin in Ranjeet Marwa’s Blind Wolf which rolls cameras this November in Singapore. The two previously worked on Marwa’s dystopian survival thriller, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, which is still par for a Southeast Asian release this year. Formerly known as Blind Rage, the film also marks a reunion for Pang and Malaysian filmmaker James Lee whose script will drive the story; Lee has worked with Pang on multiple occasions, namely 2012 action comedy, The Collector, and 2019 martial arts thriller, Kill-Fist. The update also comes a few years after we broke the news a few Decembers ago, describing the overall vision and tone as a cross between The Equalizer, Marvel’s Daredevil and the 1980 jidaigeki classic, Shogun Assassin. Marwa showed me […]
I’ve been off-and-on in touch with filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa as post-production stayed onward for his new movie, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, and I’ve learned just a few tidbits about the project and even gotten to take a look at some of the action. What I can divulge is that there can be well over a dozen action sequences from respective starring actor/choreographer and action director, Sunny Pang (The Night Comes For Us, Headshot) and co-star Nick Khan, and also, based on what I’m told, folks watching the film will be in for some cool surprises. I can also report that the film is in the last phases of post-production with the final grading just about finished, which also brings us a fresh new still from a shot previously seen in the main trailer in January – now tweaked with a more targeted look and feel to attrribute to Marwa’s […]
Director Ranjeet S. Marwa’s newest thriller, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, remains in post-production with the team going over pages of notes of what to include and so forth. All hints at a release are tentatively looking toward Spring or the Summer depending on how things fluctuate, while Marwa continues to build his repertoire a bit for the 2021 seasons. He’s currently developing a new romantic drama which he’ll announce soon, and he’s also prepping a few more projects to round out the year, namely with Sunny Pang hitman thriller, Blind Rage. In the midst of all this though, it hasn’t hindered him, or his team any, from procuring any notions about a sequel to the aforementioned survival thriller, which wrapped additional photography in recent weeks. “The buzz around Exiled has been great so far.” says Marwa, who almost three weeks ago from this report, Marwa announced on The Movie Dojo […]
Filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa announced a sequel is in the works for Exiled: The Chosen Ones, his dystopian survival action thriller starring Singaporean actor Sunny Pang (Headshot, The Night Comes For Us). The announcement was made among several other details during a Verbal Nectar Podcast interview late Tuesday evening on The Movie Dojo YouTube channel hosted by Preston Downey, a.k.a. Phat Samurai Guy. Up first, of course, is Exiled: The Chosen Ones, which is Marwa’s latest work in his eleven-year history as he looks to ante-up his profile in genre cinema for broader audiences. The film takes place in a future dystopia where a man-made virus fails to clamp down on the world’s population, a preamble which then sees imprisoned Yakuza hitman Hiro (Pang), forced to compete in a death game with other prisoners while the rich place their bets. Marwa took to the podcast to allude to a possible […]
The past year has shown an almost daunting change of the tide for filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa, thanks in large part to the pandemic last year and its drastic affects the world around. Plans to direct Blood Rush as his inaugural ball for action movie audiences took a strong pivot to instead releasing a mini-doc on the pandemic’s affect on Asian cinema productions, as well as the development of multiple other film projects in order to ante up his profile some. One project that’s been simmering since last Fall is Exiled: The Chosen Ones, shot conveniently in a contained and Covid-safe environment to avoid scruitiny over safety concerns on the Birmingham, U.K. set. The sweetener here, of course, alludes to the casting of Sunny Pang and Hannah Al-Rashid, two of Southeast Asia’s foremost talents hailing from shared credits such as Mike Wiluan’s Buffalo Boys, and Timo Tjahjanto’s The Night Comes […]
Film Combat Syndicate is proudly announcing Blind Rage, the next project to begin rolling in the June of 2021 starring actor Sunny Pang. He’ll be teaming up once more with Ranjeet S. Marwa, who will write and direct the project in Birmingham, U.K., just as they did on their latest endeavor, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, which stars Pang and is currently in post-production. The Singaporean action star will play the role of an blind, assuming character who serves as a government assassin. Plot details are under wraps for the new movie, barring the overall vision and tone which I’m told aims as a cross between The Equalizer, Marvel’s Daredevil and the 1980 jidaigeki classic, Shogun Assassin. Marwa will produce out of his Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures Ltd. label next to Djonny Chen (Daemon Mind) of Silent D Pictures. Pang has been a working actor since 1993, and has worked […]
It would be an understatement to call 2020 a challenging year, what with politics, catastrophic disasters, and a global pandemic all being major factors in how the rest of us who’ve managed to stay alive through all have remained so. To each end, you might even suggest these as suitable a backdrop for a creative offshoot. Filmmaker Ranjeet Marwa’s inspiration kept steadfast during 2020, with efforts to crowdfund one film prior to announcing several others, and ultimately leading the charge with his latest production, Exiled: The Chosen Ones. The film signals Marwa’s premiere stake in martial arts action cinema with Southeast Asian allure, hailing direct from the UK as the first of its kind, with Marwa taking inspiration from the likes of Gareth Evans, and Indonesia’s own Timo Tjahjanto. “What we have in store for the audience is very unique in terms of both actors and location. Nothing of this […]
Welp, less than a year in after trying to crowdfund one project, filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa least expected he’d be ramping up three more instead. Assuredly, the Covid-19 pandemic became pivotal in how things eventually fluctuated among other factors, and thus, he we are with Marwa’s latest priority, Exiled: The Chosen Ones, which wrapped principal photography last month. After a man-made virus failed to reduce the world’s overpopulated areas, global leaders would start a new program that would legitimize a new venture in a game show. The game would be broadcast live, where random contestants would be exiled into a concrete jungle, forced to kill each other for their freedom. Viewers would place their bets on who had a chance at survival. Be that as it may…no one survives the game. Make no mistake here in noticing actor Sunny Pang’s name having recurred all year in news updates with Marwa’s […]

Filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa is officially set to move forward on The Chosen Ones, a sprawling new survival thriller set to shoot in the U.K. starting in the first week of October through November. With Covid-19 safety protocols in place, Marwa will be directing from his own script and producing for his Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures Ltd. banner alongside Djonny Chen of Silent D Films, and with Sunny Pang (Headshot, The Night Comes For Us) attached to star. The project is one of several feature films that Marwa kept in the works since launching crowdfunding in January for action thriller, Blood Rush (which would have filmed this summer), prior to setting forth plans to direct again with Traced by this time in 2020 after pitching the two projects to this year virtual Cannes market. The pandemic, among other factors, has since affected progress on both Traced and Blood Rush, […]
Steadfast and unabashed, director Ranjeet S. Marwa will be in good company with producer Djonny Chen they unveil their slate from Silent D Pictures and Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures, Ltd. on Sunday. Their primary focus at the forefront will be Traced, which currently has new mock-up sales art now making the rounds. The film features Singaporean actor Sunny Pang (Headshot, The Night Comes For Us), with more to be announced in the days ahead. Following our report on June 2, we now have an official logline that reads as follows: “After being locked in prison for three years, Noble must find the people responsible for his incarceration. However, revenge is not always the answer, redemption is.” A deeper insight into the film elucidates themes such as family, betrayal and redemption, with tones akin to the ultra-violent cinematic works of filmmakers like Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes For Us), Park […]
Filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa is turning his focus over to Traced, a new horror thriller which has already locked Sunny Pang to star. The film is aimed as “a crime thriller with elements of extreme violence” along with a tone and vision akin to the works of directors like Jeremy Saulnier (Blue Ruin), Takashi Miike (Ichi The Killer), Lynne Ramsay (You Were Never Really Here) and Park Chan-wook (Old Boy) to name a few. Traced follows King (Pang), a troubled man with a violent past, hired by a multimillionaire to rescue his daughter, Hannah, from being exploited for her rare blood type, by a criminal gang known as Blood Thieves. As King battles his own inner-turmoil, his mission unravels an even larger conspiracy, and so King will do whatever it takes to find and save Hannah – no rules, no exceptions, no remorse. Marwa is producing via his Rocket Sky […]

The move reunites between Tjahjanto, and his Headshot and The Night Comes For Us actors Zack Lee and Sunny Pang, who have since joined the cast since the film’s announcement at the top of the year. Pic hails from Rocket Sky High Motion Pictures Ltd. Marwa will direct from his own script which centers on Lee in the role of Max Wayan, a grieving widower whose secretive new life in the occult turns out to be more than he bargained for. Also joining the cast are actors Yayan Ruhian (The Raid franchise, Hit & Run), and Nathan Jones (Jet Li’s Fearless, Mad Max: Fury Road), and stunt performer/action actor Nick Khan (Aladdin, Invincible) who also serves as fight choreographer. Filmmaker Ranjeet S. Marwa is betting it all on his latest Indiegogo campaign these days to help make one of his biggest dreams come true with the new action thriller, Blood Rush. I first found out about this project and was astounded that a new name in the craft had emerged with such an ambitious talent roster on hand, featuring the incomparable Yayan Ruhian, Singaporean actor and action star Sunny Pang, and actor Zack Lee who has proven himself immensely as an actor capable of delivering a performance caliber worthy of audience praise. The Blood Rush campaign runs for about another month, and so I was compelled to help introduce this particular unknown director who has since continued to push his campaign in a series of videos on YouTube. For a more written record though, you’re welcome to acquaint yourselves with Marwa in the following exchange. Check it out, and […]
