Ask director Jon S. Baird and he’ll probably tell you that for the engineers of the classic Gameboy mainstay Tetris, the Cold War was a different kind of playing field. Thus, judging by the official trailer, I think Baird’s found a way to observe this angle almost perfectly, and you’re invited to check it out now at the bottom of the page. “Tetris” tells the unbelievable story of how one of the world’s most popular video games found its way to avid players around the globe. Henk Rogers (Taron Egerton) discovers TETRIS in 1988, and then risks everything by traveling to the Soviet Union, where he joins forces with inventor Alexey Pajitnov (Nikita Efremov) to bring the game to the masses. Based on a true story, “Tetris” is a Cold War–era thriller on steroids, with double-crossing villains, unlikely heroes and a nail-biting race to the finish. Egerton and Efremov lead […]
Netflix and Amblin Partners have announced the new thriller, Carry On, to be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise, The Shallows) and starring Taron Egerton (Black Bird, Rocketman, Kingsman, Robin Hood). The film will be the first to get produced as part of the deal announced between the two companies last year. Written by TJ Fixman, with additional writing by Michael Green (Logan, Blade Runner 2049), the thriller centers around Ethan Kopek, a young TSA agent who gets blackmailed by a mysterious traveler to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. Dylan Clark will produce the film out of his Dylan Clark Productions banner. Exec producing are Holly Bario, Amblin’s President of Production who will oversee the project on behalf of the studio, as well Brian Williams via Dylan Clark Productions, Scott Greenberg and Seth William Meier.
Keeping in line with the sleek and stylish air of action seen in Kingsman, moviegoers are invited to rejoin actor Taron Egerton in his latest iteration of the title folk hero in Robin Hood (sans ‘Origins’). Otto Bathurst directs his Peaky Blinders and Black Mirror follow-up, bringing less of the cerebral and just as much intensity to the spectacle that can now be sampled in the new official trailer with much more Jamie Foxx this time around as Bathurst’s choice for John. Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance. Rounding out the cast are Ben Mendelsohn in the antagonistic Sheriff with Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin and Jamie Dornan also starring for a November 21 release from Lionsgate.
I have lived through at least three feature-length adaptations of the classic medieval hero Robin Hood – the most memorable version to date being Kevin Reynolds’ signature 1991 Kevin Costner starrer. I watched it religiously when I was younger and with Alan Rickman stealing the show through and through as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Sans Men In Tights, Ridley Scott followed suit with his own offering in 2010 with Russell Crowe which I sort of barely remember, to be honest. I guess it may be no surprise to many that studios saw an opportunity when at least four stepped up, promising their own take on the folkloric medieval legend. Thus, we now get a new incarnation starring actor Taron Egerton in the title role and with Jamie Foxx also headlining as John in Sony’s November 21 release of Robin Hood. Otto Bathurst (Pinky Blinders) sits at the helm for this […]
Today is the day Comic-Con kicks off in San Diego and Twentieth Century Fox is kicking things off bright and early with a brand new trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle. You won’t be limited here, though, as there are two versions – one of which you can view just beneath in glorious red-band form. “Kingsman: The Secret Service” introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, […]
Take note, actor Colin Firth may very well return to the role of Harry Hart in writer and director Matthew Vaughn’s upcoming sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Actor Taron Egerton revealed the newest teaser poster this week via Twitter following the film’s official title reveal last week and concept art. The new film may also be joined by returning actor Edward Holdcroft who played opposite Egerton in last year’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, a film that undoubtedly won major points from its ultraviolent action and comedy inspired by its graphic novel roots from creators Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. Actress Julianne Moore is expected to portray the villain while Halle Berry was last reported to play the head of CIA as of last month in an update that could signal a Kingsman trilogy. Stay tuned!
MGM While Matthew Vaughn’s return to the helm for Kingsman 2 is certain among other things, casting remains in full bloom as well with actor Taron Egerton reprising his role from the first film in 2015. All the news now further includes the possible addition of actress Halle Berry now in talks to play the head of the CIA in a deal that may leave room open for two appearances – thus, a Kingsman trilogy. Egerton starred in Kingsman: The Secret Service along with Colin Firth and Vaughn directing based on the 2012 graphic novel from Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. The actor and actress will also reportedly be joined by Julianne Moore from a script by Vaughn and co-scribe Jane Goldman with a release set for June 16, 2017. H/T: Deadline
Deadline is reporting that Jamie Foxx is being tapped to star in director Otto Bathurst’s Robin Hood: Origins from Lionsgate. The film is one of four differently-toned Robin Hood titles from seperate studios expected to arrive in the next several years, here with Foxx joining actor Taron Egerton in the title role with actress Eve Hewson as Maid Marian. Knights Of The Roundtable scribe Joby Harold is providing the script which sees Egerton as Robin Hood who forms a band of outlaws to rid Sherwood Forest of the evil and corruption he’s discovered upon his return from the Crusades. In courting his Merry Men, he meets Foxx who will portray a battle-hardened yet war-weary Little John who distrusts Robin at first since fighting on opposite sides during the Crusades, but grows to trust him over time. Filming will commence once Egerton fulfills his Kingsman sequel duties this Spring. Harold is […]

The films are based on the graphic novel work of Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. $400M is still the magic number–Fox has set KINGSMAN 2 for June 16, 2017 after the original grossed $413M worldwide. — Exhibitor Relations (@ERCboxoffice) October 21, 2015 Matthew Vaughn, who is currently on-board MGM’s I Am Pilgrim, is poised to begin filming in April next year before […]
Actor Taron Egerton is currently on deck to film indie crime bio, Crooks County later this year into next year. In the meantime, the actor has finally scheduled shoots for two forthcoming roles following August. Egerton is officially stamped for the lead roles in his forthcoming return in Kingsman 2 for Fox prior to filming his upcoming role in Lionsgate’s Robin Hood: Origins. Both films were reportedly in contention following Egerton‘s casting for the title role in the latter film, but this week’s report from THR solidifies things as Kingsman 2 squares away with an April start date next year for a summer 2017 release from Fox. Based on a graphic novel by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Secret Service was directed by Matthew Vaughn and starred Egerton as Eggsy, a troubled young man who finds himself spirited away and on the path toward inheriting his late father’s […]
Lionsgate is currently ramping up progress for its forthcoming production of Robin Hood: Origins. Upcoming medeival epic, Knights Of The Roundtable scribe Joby Harold is behind the script for the new film to be directed by Peaky Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst with the goal of getting its foot through the door as soon as possible while several other studios plan their take on the same character in different form. This week, word now has it via Deadline that Kingsman: The Secret Service star Taron Egerton is up to play the title role in the film currently being likened to that of Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises; Harold’s script sees Egerton in a verison of the classic character who, upon his return from the Crusades, bands a team of outlaws together to rid Sherwood Forest of evil and corruption. Egerton is also poised to reprise his role in the upcoming Kingsman […]
I’ll probably end up sounding repetitive what with all my previous musings about Kingsman: The Secret Service, so I’ll probably be short here as there’s nothing else to add. The film just had its premiere in London off the heels of months of positive reviews from moviegoers who have already seen it across the pond. Hence, with less than a month away from the film’s release, it appears the film is selling itself quite well. Matthew Vaughn directs with Colin Firth and Taron Egerton starring for its February 13 U.S. release, and to get a brief glimpse of the Kingsman-style action, there’s a new clip floating out and about. And here’s a word of advice when confronting Firth in his Kingsman outfit: Hold on to your tongue lest you wish to lose your teeth! Watch the clip below along with another clip and two new short promos that follow!
Director Matthew Vaughn‘s Kingsman: The Secret Service is already a seller for me, so I’m just waiting it all out until its release in February. There’s a point you get to when you realize dozens of people had the opportunity to see a movie and grant it such positive reactions en masse that you start to loathe yourself. I’m kind of there, haha! Colin Firth and Taron Egerton lead the way as a super agent takes on a streetwise protege in search of a successor for a new generation of “Kingsman” agents while taking on a technological foe and his sharp-heeled assassin. It proposes stylish, graphic novel fun for film junkies who can’t get enough, making Kingsman: The Secret Service the next standard bearer, so, I’m curious. Bring it! Meet the cast of characters below in the players below, and stay tuned for more information!
Director Matthew Vaughn‘s live-action comic book adaptation, Kingsman: The Secret Service, is definitely one of those movies that are on my watchlist for next year. Sure, the trailers look nice and all, but the feedback it has gotten has been nothing short of upworthy. Needless to say, I’m already sold on it. Colin Firth returns to the action fray with newcomer Taron Egerton in the dynamic role of a young, up-and-coming secret agent opposite everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed supervillain, Samuel L. Jackson, all of whom can be seen in the latest red band trailer from IGN which serves up a nice dish of kick-ass to keep things anticipatory a bit longer before its February 13, 2015. via ComingSoon: Based upon the 2012 Icon Comics miniseries Kingsman: The Secret Service tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as […]
Writer and director Matthew Vaughn‘s latest return to the big screen presents a story that we’ve seen played several times before. What will count though, is how fresh it will look upon delivery, and so far, watching actor Colin Firth go from his usual quieter, more romantic roles to that of an asskicking variety for the upcoming release of the UK-set action comedy adventure, Kingsman: The Secret Service isn’t something I’m entirely against, just quite the opposite. Actor Taron Egerton plays the young, troubled pupil in training under Firth‘s watchful eye with Samuel L. Jackson starring as the villian, as per the 2012 comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons. It’s a tale you can expect to see loaded with its fair share of quips and secret agent gadget gags, as well as an ample layer of stunts and action-packed fight spectacle to boot. If you enjoyed Vaughn‘s previous […]
Tuesday was the day comic book movie fans and filmgoers alike got some pretty cool eye candy highlighting 20th Century Fox’s upcoming release of the new live action thriller, Kingsmen: The Secret Service. Joined by newcomer Taron Egerton, the film also offers one of very few action roles Firth is known for, having reportedly spent three hours a day for six months training for his role with stunt coordinator and fellow Jackie Chan cohort, Brad Allan. And the result is what we now get to see in the first of several set pics courtesy of EW, along with a new teaser trailer which you can take a look at below. Kingsmen: The Secret Service reteams helmer Matthew Vaughan with comic book author Mark Millar, who both share respective credits on delivering the R-rated 2010 live-action success, Kick-Ass. Based on Millar’s 2012 comic book publication of the same name with co-author […]
