The Channel director William Kaufman is back on radar as XYZ Films has just announced its world sales for next week’s EFM launch in Berlin with Osiris. The new sci-fi flick wrapped filming late last year with Max Martini, Deadpool 1 and 2 actress Brianna Hildebrand, LaMonica Garrett and Terminator franchise staple Linda Hamilton starring. In the film, a team of Special Forces commandos are in the middle of an operation when they’re abducted by a mysterious spacecraft. When they wake up aboard the ship, they quickly discover they are being hunted by a merciless alien race. Kaufman directed the pic from a script he penned with Paul Reichelt. Jon Wroblewski and Christian Sosa produced the film for Roosevelt Film Lab, along with Andrew and Isaac Lewis of Denton Film, and the aforementioned Martini, with Reichelt exec producing. “XYZ Films is the perfect partner who shares our sentiment for iconic […]
Warhorse One will release select theaters on June 30, followed by On Demand, and digital from July 4 from Well Go USA. At two hours of runtime, writing/directing duo William Kaufman and Johnny Strong journey into the tumultuous end of the war in Afghanistan for one man’s last-minute rescue mission in their latest reunion, Warhorse One. The film also stars Strong who wears additional hats on the project including providing the film’s requisite soundtrack. It also marks their latest reunion since Kaufman solo-directed Strong for 2016’s audience action horror favorite, Daylight’s End, as well as 2010 crime thriller, Sinners And Saints. Warhorse One sets things in motion when, just as the American military is pulling out of the region, the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad alerts the Pentagon that a family of missionaries are trapped behind enemy lines. The Pentagon summons a SEAL team to help extract the family when the […]
Director William Kaufman has firmly stacked 2023 with a trio of titles releasing this summer. He’s got Warhorse One which he co-helms with star Johnny Strong, as well as The Channel with Max Martini and Clayne Crawford, and now we have a look at Jason Patric/Cam Cigandet starrer, Shrapnel, rolling out from Saban Films in theaters, on digital and on-Demand July 28. A former Marine and his old war buddy face off against the Mexican cartel behind the disappearance of his daughter. Collider was the first to share the YouTube embed which you can view below.
I just spent my morning watching and reviewing one of the worst action films I’ve ever seen. That piece goes up early July, while I can genuinely assert that the official trailer footage signaling the latest from director William Kaufman proffers better times ahead. That brings us to action crime thriller The Channel, heading to theaters and on-Demand on July 14 following its acquisition by Brainstorm Media. It stars Clayne Crawford, Max Martini, and Nicoye Banks from a script by Kaufman and co-writer Paul Reichelt. After their bank heist goes wrong, a desperate criminal, his out-of-control brother and their motley crew of ex-Marines must escape New Orleans and the determined FBI agent who pursues them. Kaufman has a few films coming out in the coming year. In the interim, Fandango and Vudu exclusively premiered the trailer for The Channel on Tuesday which you can view below.
Firstly broken by IGN, Well Go USA is proudly launching the official trailer for Warhorse One, the new independently-produced Afghan War thriller from directors William Kaufman and lead actor Johnny Strong. The film reteams the duo for a third time in the years since converging on the LA set of 2010 crime thriller, Sinners And Saints, followed by 2016 dystopian zombie actioner, Daylight’s End. After a SEAL team helicopter is downed during a rescue mission in Afghanistan, the lone surviving operator must evade hostile insurgents and navigate rough terrain to guide the one living civilian—a traumatized child—to safety. Warhorse One also stars Athena Durner, Raj Kala, James Sherrill and Siya Rostami. Well Go USA will release the film in select theaters on June 30, followed by On Demand, and digital from July 4.
A new official poster is now running online for Shrapnel, the new action thriller from director William Kaufman (The Brave, Jarhead 3: The Siege). Jason Patric (Sleepers, Narc) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The Magnificent Seven) star in the pic which is in post-production ahead of a TBA 2023 release from Saban Films. Patric plays a rancher who crosses the border in search of his missing daughter who mysteriously vanishes during a trip to Mexico with her best friend. He decides to take matters into his own hands, with the help of a former Marine buddy (Gigandet), after the local authorities provide little help and he discovers that they are in cahoots with the dangerous cartel behind his daughter’s disappearance. Kaufman directed from an original screenplay by Chad Law and Johnny Walters. Elias Axume is produced the pic for Premiere Entertainment, which handles worldwide sales, with Al Bravo for Al Bravo […]
Director William Kaufman (The Brave, Jarhead 3) had been low key releasing mini-teasers via Instagram at one point for one of his most recently-completed productions, Warhorse One, while segueing over to principal photography for military actioner, The Channel, which landed international sales at EFM earlier this year through Grandave, and Jason Patric starrer, Shrapnel with Premiere Entertainment handling worldwide sales. Indeed, it’s been a busy year and as we make our way into another market season at Cannes, Kaufman’s reunion with actor Johnny Strong (Sinners And Saints, Daylight’s End) who co-directs and also co-wrote the pic with Kaufman, now lends us our first full trailer introducing a hearty sample of what’s to come. The trailer also introduces young actress Athena Durner who plays a girl caught in the crossfire at the tail-end of the war in Afghanistan. While conducting a rescue mission to evacuate a group of missionaries out of […]
The Cannes Marche du Film is taking off in May with Premiere Entertainment Group launching its slate for world sales. The package will surely include its most recently-wrapped action thriller, Shrapnel, starring Jason Patric (Sleepers, Narc) and Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The Magnificent Seven), and is directed by William Kaufman (The Brave, upcoming The Channel). Patric will play a rancher who crosses the border in search of his missing daughter who mysteriously vanishes during a trip to Mexico with her best friend. He decides to take matters into his own hands, with the help of a former Marine buddy (Gigandet), after the local authorities provide little help and he discovers that they are in cahoots with the dangerous cartel behind his daughter’s disappearance. Kaufman is directing the film from a script by Chad Law and Johnny Walters. Elias Axume is producing for Premiere Entertainment alongside Al Bravo for Al Bravo Films. […]
Jason Patric (Sleepers, Narc) will lead action thriller Shrapnel, as announced by L.A.-based sales, production and financing firm, Premiere Entertainment Group (PEG) on Friday. The actor will star alongside Cam Gigandet (Twilight, The Magnificent Seven) with William Kaufman directing from a script by Chad Law and Johnny Walters. The film further reunites Kaufman with Law, with the latter having co-penned three of Kaufman’s films in the past: Cuba Gooding Jr. actioners The Hit List (2011) and One In The Chamber (2012), and the […]
Director William Kaufman‘s got a bit of an itch that needs scratching. Whatever the case is though, he’s definitely taking his time with it as he continues to tease followers and action fans with bits from his latest, Warhorse One. The film reunites Kaufman with actor Johnny Strong who toplines two of Kaufman’s previous action thriller hits, Sinners And Saints and zombie actioner, Daylight’s End. Kaufman’s knack for shoot ’em ups proved to be an absolute thrill with his most recent cop thriller release, The Brave, and so I’m especially looking to see how this checks out in that regard. And so there we have it. No plot details or casting or production specifics yet and time will tell when he’ll post a trailer to provide some long-awaited relief. Still though, this looks like a thing we should care about at some point. Check out the embedded Instagram teasers below […]
One key ingredient when pitching projects at any film market usually includes some kind of concept art. Bleiberg Entertainment is in Berlin with their own package which also consists of William Kaufman’s latest, Vigilante, which wrangled through a ton of unease earlier this month when fan sites spilled the beans. Scott Adkins (Universal Soldier: Day Of Reckoning, Undisputed film series) is set to star in the flick rejoining Kaufman long since 2016’s Jarhead: The Siege, and Daylight’s End screenwriter Chad Law. With Vigilante making the rounds at this year’s EFM, there’s no question with the sales art’s blaring similarities to the pre-sales art for Jesse Johnson’s hit 2019 thriller, Avengement. Welp…enter Kaufmann who is brandishing new mock up art on social media showcasing Adkins, edited into heavy tactical gear per the story; Described as Taxi Driver meets Punisher, Adkins will play a disgraced soldier who wages war against the city’s […]
Avengement star Scott Adkins is reportedly circling a chance to reteam with director William Kaufman for action thriller, Vigilante, according to news broken at City On Fire on Friday. The film also reunites Kaufman with screenwriter Chad Law who penned the director’s 2015 dystopian zombie thriller, Daylight’s End, as well as Adkins’s Isaac Florentine actioner, Close Range. Law is co-penning the script with Josh Ridgeway, and with Andrea de Liberato (Among The Shadows) producing. Vigilante centers on a disgraced soldier who wages war against the city’s most dangerous criminals, only to end up endangering the lives of the very same people he initially set out to help protect. Kaufman and Adkins last paired up for 2016 threequel, Jarhead 3: The Siege. A seperately-gestating reboot of Kaufman’s stellar 2010 crime pic, Sinners And Saints, which the two circled with actor Johnny Strong back in 2017, still waits in the wings. Vigilante […]
A fresh jab at Hollywood character types can be heard amidst the exchanges at the outset of William Kaufman’s new crime thriller, The Brave. For what it’s worth, the banter lends a palpable sampling of just what viewers are in for, amplified by strong performances, compelling interwoven drama, and action that thrills and excites from start to finish. You have to give credence to the possible notion that The Brave is certainly more than a genric cop movie, taking to heart its location, and its history with respect to the concurrent story. An Eastern European nation still recovering from tragedy and civil war after more than two decades, Kaufman’s movie also coheses with a narrative also inspired by a real-life drug raid in the village of Lazarat in 2014. Following a dodgy undercover operation, a team of cops form a special unit led by Rei Cana (Louis Mandylor), and commanded […]
Chad Law and Farah White on the set of DAYLIGHT’S END I still actually have a ways to go in catching up with certain titles that fell off the radar for me in the last several years. William Kaufman’s small scale 2010 film Sinners And Saints is one of them, especially after managing to snag a few viewings of his 2005 killer thriller, The Prodigy, which absolutely impressed me. Assuredly, I’m not the last one to gush about Kaufman’s work. Leave it to screenwriter Chad Law who knows a lot better and more having gotten in as many as four projects with the director while they now prepare for their fifth pairing, Sinners And Saints: Vengeance, which goes before cameras very soon with Johnny Strong and Scott Adkins first to front the casting. It’s early in the process for the film but the goal is reportedly to furbish it as […]
Anchor Bay Entertainment/XLrator Media With the upcoming rollout or Jesse Johnson’s The Pay Up, Accident Man and Triple Threat in his wake, leave it to action star Scott Adkins to help carry the mantle with word on the upcoming action thriller revisal, Sinners & Saints: Vengeance. Adkins will reunite once more with Chad Law-penned Jarhead 3: The Siege helmer William Kaufman who, in turn, reunites with actor Johnny Strong who led the initial 2011 revenge cop thriller. The film aims as a stand-alone sequel which tells of a New Orleans detective who journeys to Moscow to avenge the murder of his partner at the hands of a syndicate enforcer with the help of an old war buddy, and the enforcer’s lover. Law, whose writing credits also include Kaufman’s zombie hit thriller, Daylight’s End and Isaac Florentine’s Adkins-led home invasion action pic, Close Range, is scripting with Saints And Sinners scribe […]
It’s been quite a journey for director William Kaufman’s latest heralded cult hit, Daylight’s End. Carried by the support of amply positive reviews following the film’s well-earned festival acclaim, Vertical Entertainment has since announced its North American distribution in select theaters on August 26 in association with Dallas-based virtual reality studio Groove Jones for a more immersive viewing experience. Obviousy, that would be something to look forward to and it’s a perfect horror movie feat to present to fans as we approach the Fall season. That will be about a week from now though and so at best we can present ourselves with a brand new trailer that makes it all official. Actor Johnny Strong leads the cast from a script by Chad Law, and with Lance Henriksen, Louis Mandylor, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Chris Kerson, Chelsea Edmundson, and Krzysztof Soszynski also starring. Daylight’s End, a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller, is set years […]
Right now, any cursory glance over at the official Facebook fan page for the stellar new independent survival action horror, Daylight’s End, will hint you quite a bit about how well this movie has fared in the past year. Written by Chad Law (6 Bullets, Close Range) and directed by William Kaufman (The Prodigy, Jarhead: The Siege), the film has already become a hit at festivals in Texas and Oregon with more screenings pending, but folks in the U.S. won’t be too far off with an August 26 release in select U.S. theaters and on VoD, followed by an October 10 release for theatergoers in the U.K.. Director William Kaufman transforms Dallas, Texas into a post-apocalyptic wasteland in the action-packed survival horror DAYLIGHT’S END. It stars Johnny Strong, Lance Henriksen, and Louis Mandylor in a hard-driving action-horror-thriller about a rogue drifter who agrees to put aside his mission of vengeance to help […]
As of today, this summer’s release of director William Kaufman’s direct-to-DVD war thriller, Jarhead: The Siege, will precede what looks like another impending partnership between Kaufman and action star Scott Adkins. As Deadline reports, The Returner will feature Adkins in the role of John Piper, a Prohibition-era speakeasy owner murdered along with his family for defying Al Capone, only to be mysteriously brought back from life with nine lives to spare and a chance to avenge himself and his family. Nope, not a remake of Yamakazi Takashi’s 2002 sci-fi buddy epic of the same name if that’s what you thought, but still offers a punch packworthy for action fans with Adkins headlining. Producing are Courtney Lauren Penn and Brandon Burrows of Boundless Pictures via their Firebrand label, along with Close Range co-writer Chad Law who also scripted the film. Forthcoming for Adkins are his appearances this month in Ariel Vromen’s […]
