Review: LUC VAN TIEN: KUNG FU WARRIOR Hustles Next-Generation Kung Fu Movie Muscle

Jackie Chan Stuntmen Association member and burgeoning action star, actor Andy Long Nguyen fulfilled a dream back in 2016 with the production of Vietnamese martial arts comedy, Lục Vân Tiên: Kung Fu Warrior. The latest in a slate of exciting collaborations from The Stunt People, indie action star Eric Jacobus has unveiled a slick new short film teaming with German action film pair, brothers Lorenz and Felix Hideyoshi Ruwwe for the 80’s style kung fu sci-fi short, Future Boss. The shortfilm is the latest Team Internet gathering which Lorenz directed on location in San Francisco from April 1, 2013 through April 5, immediately after completing his previous project, Rope-A-Dope, which is still allocating throughout the film festival circuit. Future Boss takes off as car-thief Eric experiments with his own pair of Google Glasses in a failed attempt to break into a car. Just after he gives up and tosses them, he is forced to defend himself against Lorenz, who plays a terminator-style kung fu assassin from the future programmed to take out before he becomes president. From L to R: Felix Fukuyoshi Ruwwe, Max Huang and Lorenz Hideyoshi Ruwwe The folks over at the German martial arts filmmaking troupe, Young Masters, have unveiled their latest short action film, Tribal Ties. Filmed in 2012, the team brought actors Max Huang and Eskindir Tesfay on board to help manifest what they wanted to portray, envisioning an anime-stylized kung fu action project inspired by the visionary style seen in Dragon Ball Z and Naruto. The official teaser was aired in July prior to the shortfilm’s premiere as one of this year’s main entries at the Action On Film Festival. Tribal Ties is directed by Felix Fukuyoshi Ruwwe and Lorenz Hideyoshi Ruwwe, who directed, shot, wrote, choreographed, directed the project. You may recall German actor and martial artist Eskindir Tesfay from my previous shoutout featuring a new team reel from his own action team, Movie-Do. As it turns out, Tesfay’s latest collaboration will feature even more cool, action packed content awaiting from today’s ever evolving and vibrant independent action filmmaking generation, this time, courtesy of Germany-based action team, Young Masters. The team has a new teaser out for their August debut of their seven minute short fight action film, Tribal Ties, a project the team worked on along with fellow actor and action performer, Max Huang, last year The teaser is packed with all the trimmings of what is looking exceptionally as an installment of independent action cinema excellence, inspired by martial arts, fantasy and the visual stylings of Japanese anime.
