The Battle For Survival Begins In The New Trailer For LAST GIRL STANDING
I waited a while to hear back from award-winning filmmaker Kentaro Yamagishi about an independent short film he recently made called Last Girl Standing (a.k.a. End Girl), based on a screenplay by Kubota Ayat and produced by Kazunori Maeda. Some Google Translate work helped me understand a little bit about this film, which looks very compelling. Unfortunately, he and I did talk much, but I am in touch with him, so hopefully I can learn more from him about this particular film as it is looking toward its next one-week theatrical run at the Shibuya Auditorium in Tokyo from July 6, 2013 through July 12.
Based on what I have been able to interpret (and for anyone who can understand Japanese better than I can, click HERE if you want to learn more), the film is one of two movies that are making the rounds in Japan’s film festival circuit from a dual film project called Alice In Project, showcasing Japan’s brightest actresses and pop idols on the big screen through independent cinema.
Last Girl Standing stars Morita Suzuka, Miyake Hitomi, Ishida Kei Lotus, Fumi Suzuki Nana, Anzai Naomi, Iwamura 捺美 and Kawamura Yukie, in a grim, dramatic and artfully violent story about three students in an all-girls school who have a bad feeling that something horrible is about to happen. As it turns out, their worst nightmare comes to life when a team of terrorists dressed in swat gear engage in a violent incursion into the school. Two girls running for their lives as they witness their fellow classmates die one after another. until. As fate would have it, only two are left standing, which is when the real battle begins.
I suspect anyone who loves Japanese pop culture, action films and the girls-with-genre will look forward to what this particular movie has to offer. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
If there is any info here that I need to correct or add after this post, I will definitely fix. But surely, watch the trailer and let readers know what you think.
