THE COLDEST CITY Adds James McAvoy
Actress Charlize Theron isn’t too far off with her latest role in director David Leitch‘s The Coldest City from Focus Features. The film commences principal photography in Budapest and Berlin beginning next month and casting info is well on the way this month.
For this, we now have James McAvoy on board to star according to Variety. Based on a script by Kurt Johnstad, the film follows the narrative inspired by author Antony Johnston’s 2012 Oni Press graphic novel publication in which a superspy forced into action to retrieve a list in order to protect the intel community when the MI6 agent smuggling it to the West is killed just before the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Theron‘s own Denver And Delilah Productions are producing with Closed On Mondays Entertainment and Sierra/Affinity, joining 87Eleven’s own Leitch following a stellar send off into 2015 from his co-directorial work with Chad Stahelski on the hit 2014 thriller, John Wick, where Leitch is still attached as executive producer for the Stahelski-helmed sequel.
The film marks the latest action role move for Theron following Mad Max: Fury Road this year prior to also joining the Russos’ novel adap, The Grey Man afterwards. McAvoy, whose credits also include Welcome To The Punch and Timur Bekmambetov’s Wanted, is expected to appear this November alongside Daniel Radcliffe in Victor Frankenstein this November followed by X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27 next year.
