Close to eighteen months have passed since the development and pre-production of upcoming independent actioner, The Conspiracy. Nowadays the cast and crew can be found somewhere in Romania well underway on the set of Andrei Lupu’s directorial debut.
Actor/martial arts talents François Mequer and Max Repossi will star in the respective roles of Noa and Leon, a pair of search-and-rescue contract experts on the mend after a failed operation resulting in the death of a target as well as a friend on the force. When a Senator’s daughter is found to be taken captive by an unknown group, the pair are assigned to rescue her, and in doing so, they uncover a conspiracy that threatens to take over the city.
Joining the cast thusfar is actor Rares Lucaci who will play the Senator, and actor Louis Mandylor (Avengement, Battle Drone) who will play the role of detective Donato; The film marks a reunion for Mandylor and Mequer as the two previously shared the set together starring in Vincent Lecrocq’s 2014 debut crime feature, Tension(s), which also served as Mequer’s feature screenwriting debut.
Rounding out the current cast is actor Victor Chen and actress Diana Sar. Ice Angel Pictures is producing with Lupu serving as producer.
Mequer is also serving up the film’s fight choreography with Dom Fred who co-stars and serves as action director; An independent filmmaker under his own label, Dom Fred Films, Fred recently made the festival rounds earning praise for his growing raft of shortfilm action projects, his latest being The Legend which garnered praise at the sixth Urban Action Showcase & Expo last year in New York City.
Milan-born newcomer Repossi recently completed a co-starring stint in the May 6 U.S. release of bureoning director, General Commander helmer Ross W. Clarkson’s newest actioner, Vixen, starring debut actress Chen Lie-Ri, and will soon appear in Ross Boyask’s Vengeance 2 which is currently in post-production.
