VIOLENT NIGHT Sequel Reunites Team From The First Hit Installment Ahead Of December 2026 Release
Cameras are expected to roll in September in Winnepeg for Violent Night 2 according to the trades on Wednesday. Tommy Wirkola will return to direct leading man David Harbour who takes up the deer-powered sleigh and red winterwear as the latest badass iteration of Santa Claus, following the sequel’s announcement two-and-a-half years ago.
Screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller are also returning to pen the script with 87North’s David Leitch and Kelly McCormick producing. Universal has reportedly slated a December 4, 2026 release.
In the first film, Harbour plays the mythic Christmas giftgiver whose inebrieated disenchanted mannerisms are put in turn-around when hearing the wishes of a little girl, held under siege with her family by armed gunmen during a holiday gathering. The box office hit actioner was also the subject of a gripping behind-the-scenes profile of the stunt industry next to the production of The Fall Guy in docuseries, Action, which is currently streaming on Peacock.
