THE MAN FROM NOWHERE: Chad Stahelski Boards Remake To Produce For New Line, CJ

Stunt honcho and filmmaker Chad Stahelski, and screenwriter Derek Kolstad, have had eyes on a number of film projects ever since the current trilogy success of Lionsgate’s hitman film franchise, John Wick. For this, it was back in November 2018 when Kolstad was tapped to pen a remake of Lee Jeong-beom’s 2010 Korean blockbuster, The Man From Nowhere, for New Line Cinema. This was a few years after New Line acquired the rights long after the rights lapsed from Dimension who snagged it in 2012 with Shawn Christensen (Curfew) announced to write. Fast forward to 2020 and with a fourth installment of the John Wick franchise currently on hiatus and Stahelski tentatively progressing with developments a revisal for Highlander, the word now from Justin Kroll at Deadline is that Stahelski is now on board in a producer capacity. Director Mike Gunther’s hard-hitting military action franchise comes to a close with Rogue Warfare: Death Of A Nation. Saban Films has rolled out the official trailer and key art, and a limited theatrical, digital and on demand release for September 25. Stephen Lang returns for the final chapter in the action-packed trilogy. When an elite team of soldiers uncover plans for a deadly bomb set to detonate in 36 hours, they must race against time to find it and defeat their enemy once and for all. It’s taken more than a year until its release, but it was just last week that Martial Club launched its newest kung fu fan film, Fist Of Fury, popularly attributed to cinematic hero Chen Zhen, ironically potrayed by the likes of Bruce Lee, Jet Li and Donnie Yen among others. IMPASSE: Don’t Miss The Teaser For Zhang Yimou’s Wintery Period Spy Drama

Apart from his successes with the exquisitely-crafted Shadow, director Zhang Yimou has still seen his fair share of hurdles, especially in the wake of China’s political upheaval over certain film releases, and of course, the global fallout from Covid-19. As the industry slowly weens itself back into some form of normal, Yimou has been staying warm up to this point, moving as much as possible with his own film slate, including the production of period spy movie, Impasse, which centers on a group of spies working to uncover inhumane experiments by the Japanese. There’s no solid release date just yet, save for mentions of 2020 until further notice.
