MIND, BODY & SOUL: Watch Aaron Vargas And Nnanyere Okoro Bring Style, Substance And Spirit In Their Latest Action Comedy Short

I can’t remember the last time I shared a kung fu action short, so at long last, I can finally help share Mind, Body & Soul from the guys over at The Fisticuffs Collective following its amazing festival run in the last few months.
As the page noted in a comment on Instagram, Mind, Body & Soul is the brain child of its performers: Aaron Vargas, who came up with the original concept while listening to “Cure for the Itch” by Linkin Park, and Nnanyere Okoro, who came up with the title. The comment also correlates its concept with anime duels describing how they occur in three different planes of reality.
“The most obvious of them, naturally, is the body. But the mind is just as crucial, as you have to examine your opponent like the chess master examines their next move. The third plane, the “soul,” is the resolve to push through no matter what,” the comment added.
Vargas and Okoro worked choreographed and pre-visualized the project in collaboration with action designer Davidson Corona who also served as 1st camera operator. The result is one of the more impressive action short briefs I’ve seen make the festival rounds this season leading up to its release, I’m happy to help spread the word.
