Art School Dropouts will take to their platforms this weekend to host The In-House Grindhouse, an interactive livestream to showcase a trio of short-duration film blocks host to independent filmmakers around the web, spanning different genres. The New Jersey-based film troupe made the announcement just over a few weeks ago for a call to entries stamped for an April 5 deadline. Seeing how the production industry is taking a big hit during this outbreak, we wanted see if we could help promote other content creators during quarantine. We hope that we can connect new viewers to great talent around the world and hope this helps our film community thrive and survive this pandemic. ATOMIC BLONDE Sequel Gets Traction At Netflix

David Leitch‘s inaugural solo directing gig with 2017 Cold War spy pic, Atomic Blonde may at long last have a future if Thursday’s Discussing Film report is any hint. A follow-up is reportedly in development at Netflix with actress Charlize Theron expected to reprise her role as Lorraine Broughton, an elite MI6 agent who, in the first film, debriefs her superiors on her deadly assignment in 1989 to retrive a dossier in Berlin, containing a list of double agents. That film is based on 2012 graphic novel, “The Coldest City”. BODYGUARD: Check Out The Trailer For Son Seung-Hyun’s New Action Drama

It’s been a while since Pluto director Son Seung-hyun’s name popped up anywhere. I supposed now’s good a time as any with the otherwise slated April release for his recent career follow-up, Bodyguard, which features Kang Seok-chul, and actress Yoo Ye-bin. The gist? Basically it’s a tale gangsters and corporate goons, and a fated reunion between an employee for a shipping company, and the woman he rescues. This, and an imaginably brutal air of violence with lots of fisticuffs to bookend the drama. HanCinema has more if you can dissect the plot some, but do peep the teaser trailer.

Japanese cinema is one of the most adoring caveats of sharing film discussions, and director Kurando Mitsutake is a highly welcome subject matter in that regard. Egor Abramenko’s feature directorial debut, Sputnik, will get its day in North America on August 14 in select theaters, on digital and cable VOD. IFC Midnight is handling its U.S. distribution with its acquisition from North American sales agents at XYZ Films. Among the lot is Balinese actor Oka Antara, who has been in preliminary dicussions with Marwa for a few days now.
