2019 is especially the year to look toward Indonesia for prospects on the superhero movie front. Executive producer Remy Ishak was no exception back in February when he and his announced plans to establish Satria Dewa Universe for the big screen, and now with the second of two preliminary teasers for next year’s Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca, folks are getting an ample taste of what’s to come. Director Charles Gozali (Juara) is set to helm Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca, the first of an eight film slate that aimed at spawning a mulitilateral merchandising franchise venture – including comic books, mobile games, television shows and theme parks. It’ll be a few more days before the next installment of The Hit List, but I don’t mind lending an audience anyday to the feats of those over at Distinctive Light Entertainment with their latest, Beware, now making the rounds. A bit of Sinatra and some Bible-learnin’ package this contained beat-em-up gem with Felix King performing and directing and Yadi Nieves lensing. They’re joined by the ravenous wolfpack consisting of Veasna Keo, Luis Vallardes, Joseph Ray Roark, Ruben Maldonado, Deej Christopher Harley, Christopher Llorca, Ruben Maldonado, Cory Dunson and Kawui Joa. TOMB RAIDER Sequel In Development With ‘Free Fire’ Writer

Alicia Vikander is officially set to star in a follow-up to director Roar Uthaug’s Tomb Raider adaptation from last year according to Mike Fleming Jr. at Deadline. Free Fire and High Rise scribe Amy Jump will pen the script with Graham King’s GK Films (Bohemian Rhapsody) back on board to produce with Elizabeth Cantillon also producing. Uthaug’s Tomb Raider, penned Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons and which grossed over $274 million dollars at the box office for Warner Bros., took years to develop after GK Films acquired the rights in 2011. Angelina Jolie originally played the title role of Lara Croft based on the Core Design game character launched in 1996 for Eidos Interactive prior to Square Enix as of 2010.

Official announcements now pouring in from Japanese media and translatory reports are coming in with word of actor Takeru Satoh’s return to the fray in new Ruroini Kenshin sequels now slated for release next year. Actor Takeru Satoh (Inuyashiki, Ajin: Demi Human) will reprise his role for the two new films covering “Mystery of the Cross-Shaped Scar” first, and the second, “Most Terrifying Enemy – Enishi”. Variety reports that Fan Bingbing (X-Men: Days Of Future Past, The White-Haired Witch Of Lunar Kingdon) will yet see her starring alongside her colleagues in the female spy ensemble, 355. The news comes just as the actress has since emerged from obscurity following a disappearance from the public for several months – part of the extensive fallout she’s faced amid China’s sprawling crackdown on tax evasion last year. With 355, Bingbing re-officiates her position with headliners Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard. Writer/director Eduardo Castrillo’s latest offering, Worth, arrived on Amazon Prime Video following its DVD release last year. The MMA drama stars Castrillo in the lead with actors Tony Todd (The Debt Collector, Candyman), Clifton Powell (Black Lightning) and Miguel A. Nunez Jr (Bronx SIU). Directed by and starring Eduardo Castrillo, Worth is a love letter to Muay Thai Kickboxing and tells of Ricky (Castrillo, Hunting Season), a top contender in Muay Thai meets and falls in love with Danielle (Samantha Aper), a paralegal in the city. Together they embark a relationship dealing with his championship match and her big court case. Danielle gets into an accident putting her into a coma and now Ricky has to do whatever it takes in order to pay for medical care. That project now arrives with the first piece of artwork for upcoming disaster thriller, Skyfire, produced and financed by Meridian Entertainment and Base Media. Penned by Sidney King, Skyfire takes place on a volcanic island in the South China Sea where a young geologist and her father are now in a race against time to save lives before the island blows.
