NIGHTSHOOTERS: Marc Price’s Raindance 2018 Selection Gets Boxing Day Release
Director Marc Price’s new action comedy thriller, Nightshooters, is officially on deck for DVD release and Digital Download in the UK on December 26. The film, which stars SAG-Nominated rising martial arts star, Jean-Paul Ly (Jailbreak), will first have its day vying for Best UK feature’ at this year’s Raindance Film Festival in October. Nightshooters centers on an amateur film crew forced to use their own means to fight and survive when a grueling indie nightshoot sends them on a wild odyssey through a condemned tower block, hunted by a murderous gang of arsonists after witnessing their latest gruesome killing. Produced by Michelle Parkyn, the film is described as a fusion of Gareth Evans’ The Raid (2011) and Brian DePalma’s Blow Out (1981) with a nod to popular British gangster cinema tropes. H Collective Expands Slate With iQIYI, Adds COUNTER SPY From Craig Kyle
Following the H Collective‘s acquisition of the xXx franchise, Variety has word that the film is now part of a six-film expansion deal with Chinese streaming service, iQIYI. A few titles have been made public in the report this week, namely action comedy Counter Spy which is said to be the first film coming from the deal going forward. Plot details are under wraps for the new project which former Marvel executive Craig Kyle is penning from an original draft by David Rothenberg and Lionel Enns. Kyle is best known for writing and producing a number of Marvel films and projects. He served on the creative committees for the inaugural MCU feature, Iron Man, and on Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk. COLD WARRIOR: Shane Black Spy Thriller In The Works At Netflix
It’s a matter of weeks and days as The Nice Guys and Iron Man 3 helmer Shane Black invades Earth with upcoming Fox release, The Predator. Until then, Collider’s Jeff Sneider is onto something else that’s been about ten years in the making with word of spy thriller, Cold Warrior, now reportedly landing at Netflix. Initally housed at Universal, Chuck Mondry originally penned the script for the film which centers on a retired Cold War-era spy who sets out to track down a terrorist with a younger agent. Michelle Manning (The Dirt) and Anthony Bagarozzi are producing the film with Black’s manager, David Greenblatt. Read more at Collider.
WWII Revenge Thriller, RUIN, Casts Robbie And Schoenaerts
Margot Robbie, currently starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, is now set to join Assassin’s Creed Helmer Justin Kurzel for WWII thriller, Ruin. As Deadline reports, will headline next to actor Matthias Schoenaerts from a script by Ryan and Matthew Firpo with Marc Butan of MadRiver Pictures is producing alongside Kurzel. Ruin is set to commence filming early next year in Prague, set in the ruins of post-WWII where a Holocaust survivor (Robbie) reluctantly forms an unlikely alliance with an ex-SS captain (Schoenaerts) to hunt down the surviving members of the captain’s former Nazi death squad. The film is described as something in the vein of gritty period revenge thrillers like Inglorious Basterds and Fury. 2018 saw the proud partnership of action directors Art Camacho and Robert Samuels for the production of martial arts action comedy, Made In Chinatown. With the film currently in post-production, we now have our first official poster which you can check out below. The film marks a feature debut for action actor and stunt performer Jay Kwon from a script by Mark V. Wiley. Kwon stars as Vinny, a disaffected Chinese New Yorker who rejects his culture in order to fight his way to the top and become a Made man in the Italian mob. Also starring are Tony Darrow, Vincent Pastore, Tony Ray Rossi and Raymond J. Barry with kung fu cinema legends Lo Meng and Chiu Chi Ling, as well as Peter Ngai, Steven Chan and Paul Sun. Well Go USA Casts Zhang Yimou’s SHADOW Into 2019

Writer/director and self-described Agatha Christie “nut” Rian Johnson and producing partner Ram Bergman are currently readying a company of their own to help finance their next film, Knives Out, ahead of Toronto International Film Festival this week. Deadline reported exclusively on Tuesday that actor Daniel Craig is set to have accepted the lead role in the new project which Johnson had previously staked in for Craig, a move that sets up a potential A-list roster in upcoming casting news.
