STREGA: Bueno’s ‘Gun Caliber’ Sequel Wraps Principal Photography

It’s been nearly a decade into the filmmaking journey that brought fans the release of tokusatsu cult hit, Gun Caliber. Since then, maverick director Bueno has been hard at work maintaining content for the toku crowd through his independent film portal on YouTube, Garage Hero, while also developing, and just shy of three years ago, rolling cameras for the Gun Caliber sequel, Strega, which, for all intents and purposes will hopefully spur a 2019 release. Bueno stirred the pot quite a bit in 2014 with Gun Caliber, introducing the world of suit hero fandom to a noticeably more R-rated protagonist akin to the likes of Deadpool compared to other mainstream Japanese suit action heroes. Production is currently underway for upcoming martial arts action comedy, Made In Chinatown, with scenes currently being filmed in Philidelphia. The film is being directed by Art Camacho and Robert Samuels (H.K.S.C.), the latter who plays a supporting role in the new film from Tambuli Media and R4 Films L.L.C. Netflix’s advances in original content now span with McG’s own forthcoming alien invasion sci-fi, Rim Of The World. As Amanda N’Duka reported on Friday, actor Dean S. Jagger (Corbin Nash) is tapped to star in the film which began production a month ago in Los Angeles. Four misfit teenagers become unlikely allies when their summer camp experience is cut short by an alien invasion. Long-standing film favorite Tsui Hark didn’t exactly impress as much as he might have wanted in partnership with Yuen Woo-Ping for Miracle Fighters reprisal, The Thousand Faces Of Dunjia, but the journey forward is always one that stands to gain with its share of improvements. Well, I pretty much have my plans made this weekend and with any luck, that’ll leave me with a few hours alone to enjoy David M. Rosenthal’s new post apocalyptic epic, How It Ends, courtesy of Netflix who’ve now rolled out a final trailer signaling its release on Friday. The film is now available with Theo James leading the cast next to a considerably badass Forest Whitaker who, for all intents and purposes, has pretty much never stopped being a badass. This man was clearly made for action roles and I’m just thankful he’s come into his element accordingly. As Borys Kit notes at The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision blog, production on Zombieland 2 is officially set to commence in January in time for a ceremonial October 2019 release from Sony Pictures. Anthony Breznican at Entertainment Weekly is running his latest exclusive for Travis Knight’s upcoming Hasbro treatment, Bumblebee. The photo above marks the first reveal of two Decepticon characters in the form of Shatter, a cherry-red Plymouth Satellite (voiced by Black Panther co-star Angela Bassett), and Dropkick, a blue AMC Javelin, (voiced by Justin Theroux). On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Netflix officially announced the production which beagn on July 4 with Boyd Holbrook (Logan, Narcos), Emmy nominee and Golden Globe/SAG winner Michael C. Hall (Safe, Cold In July), Cleopatra Coleman (The Last Man on Earth, White Famous) and Emmy Award nominee Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo (TV), Spider-Man: Homecoming) starring. It was back in January that Zeitgeist Magazine provided exclusive word from Ed Neumeier that a “continuation” of Orion’s original 1987 sci-fi action satire franchise vehicle, RoboCop, was in development. Fast forward seven months later and now it seems the aforementioned co-writer and producer of the initial Peter Weller-starrer is sticking to his word with further development now publicly attaching Neill Blomkamp to the upcoming revival, RoboCop Returns.
