The official trailer is newly released online ahead of a July 27 release and featurung Michael Peña, Lizzy Caplan and Luke Cage star Mike Colter. A father has a recurring dream of losing his family. As late as I was in discovering Hong Kong cinema per my own fandom by the mid-1990s, I proudly went with the momentum, keeping up with as many Dimension, Miramax and Sony releases as I could. One of my favorite DVD picks in the years going forward would be a blind purchase of Aman Chang’s 2000 action adventure comedy, Fist Power, pitting Vincent Zhao against co-star, actor, stuntman and nowadays a stunt coordinator, Jude Poyer. It’s been years since I’ve seen that film, although anyone, in my view, who watches and follows Asian films for as long as I have, or even longer, knows that someone like Jude stands out in a particularly cool way. Horror fans are more than welcome to pencil in a to-be-announced September date for the release of Tom Botchii’s action/horror hybrid directorial debut, Artik. The last several weeks have seen its official trailer circulate among the horror niche and is getting a swathe of praise amid reactions. Actor Jerry G. Angelo takes center stage for this endeavor as the titular sunflower-farming, body-dragging, hefty-bearded, menacing serial killer with a deadly obsession for the ultimate comic book hero. Also starring are Lauren Ashley Carter and Matt Mercer, along with actor Chase Williamson who plays Holton, an Al-Anon attending straight-edge, punk purist who eventually comes face-to-face with our killer. Well, I didn’t think I’d make it this week for another installment of the Hit List. It doesn’t undercut the amount of content still forthcoming, especially with San Diego Comic-Con inbound so… looks like it’ll be another full plate this season.
