BLADE OF THE IMMORTAL Lands At Magnet For U.S. Release

HanWay It’s probably some of the best news you’ll hear of it and with any luck it’ll mean a wider release granted than other titles from various distributors and their ridiculous event screenings, but the word now is that Miike Takashi’s 100th film, Blade Of The Immortal now has U.S. distribution over at Magnolia Pictures’s genre arm, Magnet Releasing in a deal with HanWay Films. The film premiered in Japan on April 29 from Warner Bros. Japan and is currently slated as an Official Selection presentation at Cannes this week. Magnet is an especially good shingle for the film to reside at especially considering the film is home to, among its other cult titles, the first two installments of Kitano Takeshi’s Yakuza crime trilogy, Outrage and Beyond Outrage. GUNS AKIMBO: Daniel Radcliffe Cast In The New Dark Web Gladiator Action Pic

Altitude Films and Occupant Entertainment is reportedly aiming toward Cannes with their latest action thriller, Guns Akimbo. Actor Daniel Radcliffe, recently seen on the set of Jesper Ganslandt’s Beast Of Burden is set to star in the film with Deathgasm helmer James Lei Howden directing. Radcliffe will star from Howden’s screenplay as Miles, an ordinary guy who is forced to compete in a violent, gladiator-like darkweb Viking tournament against other heavily armed opponents to save his kidnapped girlfriend. Occupant’s Joe Neurauter and Felipe Marino are producing while Hyperion’s Michael Mailis and Altitude’s Will Clarke and Andy Mayson will executive produce. per Variety: “Jason Lei Howden is an incredibly talented new filmmaker, who with ‘Guns Akimbo’ delivers a commercial action film that is original, fresh and gives us unique and exciting characters. Mila Kunis And Kate McKinnon To Star In THE SPY WHO DUMPED ME

Lionsgate international will be on hand at Cannes next week with their slate of titles, one of which includes the new action comedy, The Spy Who Dumped Me. Susanna Fogel (Life Partners) makes her sophomore outing in the director’s chair from a script she wrote with David Iserson. Brian Grazer and Ron Howard are producing what’s being described as a high-octane, globetrotting spy caper that sees actresses Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis in the respective roles of roomates Morgan and Audrey, the latter whose unassuming ex-boyfriend shows up at their door with assassins on his tail. Dispatching them both, the two women unexpectedly find themselves in possession of a thumb drive and on an international covert mission to save the world.
