Just for a bit of perspective if you haven’t already, check out Korean titles A Hard Day and A Man From Nowhere. Both lend two of the most enthralling performances you will ever see in Korean cimema with actor Lee Sun-kyun in the former, and the latter from heralded filmmaker Lee Jeong-beom for which I recommend you have a few tissues handy, because that’s how real it gets. See these films and you’ll get a good sense of what’s abound now with word that Warner Bros. Pictures Korea is well on the way for its latest South Korean endeavor, Bad Police. My weekend was a little laid back…managed to catch up on a little anime and some Lady Snowblood for fun. Classic!… I also managed to finish a review for Franklin Correa’s newest indie thriller, Lyco which you can read here. Black Scar Blues The fondness hasn’t waned, to be frank. I very much enjoyed Rising Tiger Film’s debut milestone feature, Black Scar Blues, a crime noir with a dark twist, anti-hero tropes and semi-stylish action choreography that amplifies the tragic events that encompass the tale of a broken bond between two friends in the midst of the criminal underworld. The film marks the first out of the barn for debut director Leroy Nguyen who stars alongside Edmond Shum and after years of making countless shortfilms online in the realms of action, martial arts, drama and comedy. That said, evolving Black Scar Blues into a viable feature film was no easy feat, a fact emphasized by both stars when I interviewed them. Catch The First Trailer For Real-Time Crime Thriller, BROKEN MILE

Well look at this! A feature film shot entirely on one take with no cuts whilst proposing a tale of murder mystery and suspense? That’s what it looks to be here in Justin McConnell’s new movie, Broken Mile (formerly Red Mile) and one other asset to this is how mobile it remains, providing depth to accomodate its ambitiousness. McConnell also wrote and lensed the picture with a cast that sees Francesco Filice, Caleigh Le Grand and Patrick McFadden headlining a story of a drug addict who awakens to the dead body of the girl he was with. As such, consequences arise of which ultimately force him frantic and on the run. The film is also produced by Unstable Ground with 9 Light Entertainment and 79th & Broadway Entertainment producing, and a score by Sean Motley that certainly keeps the intense tone and pace going. Not even I expected David Ayer’s Suicide Squad to become an Oscar winner on Sunday night. That, it has, however, and for Hair & Make Up no less which seems fitting and likely to the appeal of fans who contributed to the critically-panned DC adaptation’s box office success last year. For this, fans of the Fury and End Of Watch helmer now get to sample his latest reuinion with actor Will Smith in the first teaser for fantasy crime pic, Bright. Manchester By The Sea opens on a flashback, but you don’t realize this until later. That’s not a spoiler, it is thematic layering. Director Kenneth Lonergan began his career on the stage in 1996, finding success with his play, This Is Our Youth. Review: Indie Action Horror LYCO Teeters On Monotony, Maintains With Spells Of Substance

Independent filmmaker Franklin Correa, like most in his field, is a work in progress. That said, his latest in upscaling comes with the slightly more polished effort from Pantero Productions with the new movie, Lyco, a slight switch in gears for the Flash Drive and Mistaken helmer keen on venturing into John Carpenter and Stephen King territory just a tad. Granted, there are stumbles along the way in this small scale endeavor by the local New Jersey-based martial artist and instructor who also serves a few good moments of fight action for what it’s worth. Thursday saw a swarm of terrific news regarding The Batman and DC spin-off, Nightwing, though the former still stood unanswered for but briefly with regard to its star, Ben Affleck. Thus, quelling the weeks and days of on-going rumors of his departure, the actor took to Twitter to confirm the gospel. Reeves’s upcoming War For The Planet Of The Apes for 20th Century Fox is due on July 14 while The Batman plans for its possible 2018 release until further notice.

THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS Takes You Into Dom’s Deal With The Devil

The biggest initial highlight of the new international promo for F. Gary Gray’s The Fate Of The Furious may very well be a feat for fans of Pitbull, Camila Cabello and J Balvin for their new song, “Hey Ma”. In the meantime, we all know what the current center of the brewing intrigue and danger is here for those heavily and emotionally invested in the now withering relationship between characters Letty and Dom, played by Michelle Rodriguez and Vin Diesel. You get to sample some of that now along with the sadistic, conniving lurking of the villain character played by Charlize Theron in the new promo ahead of the film’s April 14 release. That’s a little more than a month and a half from now so I suppose a new trailer is in order. We’ll see! Catch the new international trailer below!

Fresh out of the door with more news on activity from Warner Bros. Pictures is talk of director Chris McKay who gained notoriety this year with his directorial debut, The Lego Batman Movie. This time he’s aiming to tackle live-action with reports from THR confirming his attachment to a Nightwing feature film inspired by the DC Comics property in its shared legacy with the Dark Knight himself, Batman. McKay will direct from a script by Bill Dubuque which focuses on the character, Dick Grayson, formerly of The Flying Graysons. The funny thing about the new announcement from Warner Bros. Pictures regarding The Batman is that it makes no mention of actor Ben Affleck.
