Marvel Confirms Its Director For BLACK PANTHER

In case you’ve been living under a rock as I have as of the bottom of last year with all the downtime in the world, it was finally confirmed at the bottom of 2015 that Creed and Fruitvale Station helmer Ryan Coogler was in talks to direct Marvel’s Black Panther. Chadwick Boseman has already made headlines with his official attachment to portray the character which will appear this May in Captain America: Civil War, all while names were being shuffled as hopefuls to direct the forthcoming comic book adaptation. Think back to a time when there was once a live-action adaptation of the popular SNK Playmore fighting game series, The King Of Fighters… Yes, the one that Gordon Chan directed, and it’s the one you probably had quite a mix of opinions over with friends online; It’s worth noting that director Dwight H. Little’s iteration of Tekken endured the same critical fate as well, ultimately adding to the skepticism behind whether or not beloved fighting game franchises were sacrosanct. Mine was pretty loaded so I wasn’t bored much, and that included preparing this week’s latest Hit List for you to enjoy with fresh new reels, fights and other stunt gems you’ll hopefully like. CREED 2 Could Arrive As Early As 2017

Over the weekend, Sylvester Stallone won a Golden Globe award for his supporting role as an aged Rocky Balboa in his latest page-turning signature boxing drama, Creed, starring Michael B. Jordan. This, coupled with an onslaught of upworthy reviews and a box-office total of $105 million dollars, is all very reassuring of prospective talks for a sequel, and accordingly, MGM CEO Gary Barber is making it so. Barber confirmed to Variety in a new report on Monday that while an official date is not set in stone, a follow-up could arrive as soon as 2017 with Jordan returning as the son of Rocky cinematic mainstay, Apollo Creed who starred in the first four films of the boxing saga. Guillermo Del Toro Quells Fans' Woes With PACIFIC RIM 2 Hopes

Director Guillermo Del Toro is currently tapped to direct an adaptation of the 1967 medical thriller, Fantastic Voyage for 20th Century Fox as of news last week. That said, the update brought preceding concerns regarding whether or not Del Toro would be able to move forward with the long-awaited Pacific Rim 2, a sequel to the Jaeger V. Kaiju monster cult hit. Essentially, the word was that the film, previously clocked for an April 2017 date, was canned or otherwise indefinitely shelved. Devastating, yes. Jamie Foxx Is Playing Little John In ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS

Deadline is reporting that Jamie Foxx is being tapped to star in director Otto Bathurst’s Robin Hood: Origins from Lionsgate. The film is one of four differently-toned Robin Hood titles from seperate studios expected to arrive in the next several years, here with Foxx joining actor Taron Egerton in the title role with actress Eve Hewson as Maid Marian. Knights Of The Roundtable scribe Joby Harold is providing the script which sees Egerton as Robin Hood who forms a band of outlaws to rid Sherwood Forest of the evil and corruption he’s discovered upon his return from the Crusades. In courting his Merry Men, he meets Foxx who will portray a battle-hardened yet war-weary Little John who distrusts Robin at first since fighting on opposite sides during the Crusades, but grows to trust him over time. In case you’ve been glued to Facebook or Spike TV for that matter, yes, that IS actor Channing Tatum in a hilarious gender-bending performance as Beyoncè on Lip Sync Battle – all well and good for the humor as well as a show of Tatum’s sportsman ship and talent as he’s got a proven knack for costume play. Of course, the most-acclaimed costume of all in this instance is that which is currently being prepped for the actor in director Doug Liman’s forthcoming adaptation of the new standalone Gambit film for 20th Century Fox, which is reportedly rolling cameras in March in New Orleans, Louisiana, according to WGNO (via Comic Book). It was back in February that I had the opportunity to sample some of director Henry J. Kim’s independent work with the shortfilm, No Rest For The Wicked. That title came in to my reach as he was already underway with prepping his next San Francisco-set crime drama, All Men Are Thieves which began its festival run a few months later. At an earlier time, the project was still being circulated as a potential pilot for a series, and I recently had the opportunity to screen that pilot which was shot in six days with a budget of $8000. Here, clocked in at forty-minutes with actors Frederick Szkoda and Lanny Joon starring, All Men Are Thieves centers on Vincent and Rich – seemingly two career criminals who end up reluctantly partnering for a series of jobs leading to a friendship that will ultimately test their loyalty to each other. Director Soi Cheang’s earlier efforts with The Monkey King was a huge box office hit in 2014 and a release in the U.S. is soon pending. Bearing in mind of course is the fact that some fans had their own disapproving opinions on it and so optimism on a sequel remained floundering, but the sequel is here, nevertheless, and less than a month short of its Hong Kong release in February for The Monkey King 2: 3D. Featuring action director Sammo Hung’s signature fight design, actor Aaron Kwok reunites with the director and now takes the lead in this inspired CG-laden epic based on Wu Cheng’en’s Journey To The West, in a story that now pits our hero against actress Gong Li who plays the White Bone Demon. CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: SWORD OF DESTINY Wields New Character Posters

With the release of the second international trailer for Yuen Woo-Ping’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword Of Destiny earlier this week, a fresh slate of character posters have finally been unveiled featuring our prime cast, hosting actress Michelle Yeoh, actor Donnie Yen, actress Natasha Liu and actor Harry Shum Jr. Adapted for the screen by writer John Fusco, the film engages the fifth installment of author Wang Dulu’s Iron/Crane Pentalogy which sees Yeoh back in the role of swordswoman Yu Shu Lien following her appearance in director Ang Lee’s award-winning 2000 film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Rounding out the cast are Roger Yuan, Eguenia Yuan and Jason Scott Lee. The film’s release rollout begins in China in early February with subsequent releases in Hong Kong, the U.S. and on Netflix thereafter. Director Babak Najafi appears intent on living up to the fervor left over from Antoine Fuqua’s 2013 White House hostage thriller, Olympus Has Fallen. His newest, London Has Fallen, brings back Gerard Butler as he works to cement his way into action hero history as the next, less grumpy version of John McClaine, now tackling terror on the streets of London where a new threat looms. Aaron Eckhart reprises his role as the American president everyone seems to be trying to kill these days, with actress Charlotte Riley in the role of a British MI-6 agent unbeknownst of who to trust amid the chaos. But be warned, terrorists! If you kill off Eckhart, you’ll have to deal with the convicting voice of his Vice President, actor Morgan Freeman, who will rightly narrate your demise! CBS Reboot Series, RUSH HOUR, Gets A Premiere Date

It’s been a little under a year since news started generating for CBS’s upcoming series reboot of the 1998 hit film, Rush Hour. Thankfully some new footage finally began rolling out late last year for the new show which now sees actors Justin Hires and martial artist Jon Foo in place of film franchise stars, Chris Tucker and action star Jackie Chan. As of this week now, the trades are now confirming with word from THR that the show will premiere on Thursday, March 31 at 10:00 Eastern Standard Time. The update stems from CBS shuffling its programs, including Elementary which will now play on Sundays. The new show will reinterpret the three-film franchise with Hires in the role of Carter, a maverick LAPD detective reluctantly partnered with a cop on a mission to avenge his sister’s death, straight-laced detective Lee played by Foo. A fourth Blade movie may be all the hype right now for many a patient Wesley Snipes fan. That doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be anything else interesting involving him, but quite the opposite with word on a new project he’s producing with Awaken star, actress Natalie Burn. The film in question is 59 Rows Of Teeth, an independent action drama peppered with Taken and Bourne franchise elements. As Tracking Board states, Peter Iliff, who wrote Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 pre-reboot hit movie, Point Break, sets the script in New Orleans where a young “street soldier” on the run from police is forced to choose between his mentor, his surrogate crime “family”, and a 13-year old runaway girl they have enslaved. The Vietnamese map has shaped quite a bit in the past year or so with a number of titles geared toward either horror, comedy or action comedy, with the latter sticking much more as of late. Director Tran Ngoc Giau’s Tia Tui La Cao Thu (My Dad Is a Gangster) appears to lean more on the latter as the latest trailer indicates with a cast of various talents led Vietnamese-American comedians Hoai Linh and Viet Huong. Highlights of tradition, love and family are part of the ingredient here for a fish-out-of-water romp about an ordinary family, specializing in traditional medicine, beset by money problems, the government, and city life in Saigon. If you’re wondering at all why it is that Crimson Peak helmer Guillermo Del Toro hasn’t made a peep about Pacific Rim 2, you would be forgiven for thinking he was actually busy working on it. In that case, sorry to burst your bubble. THR now brings news that those efforts are off the table indefinitely with the director now in talks to boarding a remake of the 1966 film, Fantastic Voyage. 20th Century Fox and James Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment are backing the project with a story initially set during the Cold War when a group scientists are tasked with miniaturizing themselves down to atomic size to save the life of a scientist after a near-fatal attempt on his life. Yes, Timo Tjahanto and Kimo Stamboel are back and ready to impress with action star Iko Uwais of Merantau and The Raid franchise fame leading the way for Headshot. As the story goes, Uwais plays an amnesiac who gets treated by a nurse and ends up in a deadly clash with his violent past as a result.
