CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON: SWORD OF DESTINY Wields A Trailer Tease!

If you’re pining for more Donnie Yen action post-Ip Man 3D, you won’t have to wait very long. Director Yuen Woo-Ping’s latest directorial offering in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon 2: Sword Of Destiny, is on course for a theatrical and Netflix release in February and the first footage is now available in the form of a trailer teaser. Screener Review: MOJIN: THE LOST LEGEND (2015)

It’s been somewhat of a season of “firsts” for me here and there, and such is the case with director Wuershan‘s newest film, Mojin: The Lost Legend. I don’t exactly know what the effect would have been if the production company simply left its original title, “The Ghouls”, although the new title makes sense and gives meaning to the story as it unfolds. The film focuses thematically on an age-old clandestine group of tomb raiders who once existed for the purpose of dig for treasure in order to feed China’s poor during wartime. Based on Zhang Muye’s novel “Ghost Blows Out The Light”, actor Chen Kun plays a discouraged former member of said group, the Mojin, alongside Huang Bo as they struggle to hustle on the streets of 1980’s New York. The Grey (2004) and Provinces Of The Night (2010) helmer Shane Dax Taylor is looking to leave a mark starting this weekend with fellow scribe Chad Law for director Isaac Florentine’s new movie, Close Range. In the meantime, the two are currently leaving an impression with Taylor‘s latest and third feature work, Isolation, which recently wrapped things up last month at the Austin Film Festival. Law’s script centers on Luke Mably and Tricia Helfer who play a happy couple looking for an exotic getaway in the Bahamas – that is until their new, albeit menacing neighbors threaten to turn their vacation in paradise into nothing short of a seething nightmare. Tom Welling To Save The World In SECTION 13 For CBS

I haven’t seen all the seasons of the hit show, Smallville, but coming from comic book fandom with the show’s 10-season run, it’s clearly done justice for its then-star Tom Welling. The show ended in 2011 while the actor went onto other endeavors but now it looks like he’s working his way back to television bound for his new home at CBS. Deadline reports this week that the network is developing the new action series, Section 13 with Bones and Home and Away scribe Carla Kettner writing. Welling will play a former black-ops specialist-turned-private contractor who endures a personal tragedy and subsequently becomes a member of covert organization that takes on dangerous high-stakes missions. More details are needed but this sounds like a fun show to look forward to. Afonso Poyart's Winning Crime Pic, 2 COELHOS (Two Rabbits) Gets A New U.S. Trailer

It’s been three years since acclaimed director Afonso Poyart‘s 2012 crime thriller, 2 Coelhos (Two Rabbits) became a local box office hit in Brazil with the prospects of a Hollywood remake from Sony. We’ll wait and see how those plans turn out while the film itself has garnered a great deal of accolades and nominations in the festival scene between 2012 and 2013, all the more reason to celebrate such a cinematic feat for more audiences. Alas, the film itself is finally being guaranteed a VOD and iTunes release on January 19, 2016. Looking to set forth a Virginia Beach premiere ahead of a 2016 release, shortfilm director Jon Mark Nail is on the way with his newest feature debut, Eyes Of The Roshi. Academy Award Nominee Eric Roberts headlines the film with a script by Joseph Baum that puts Vietnamese Karate-do expert and Yoga purveyor, Adam Nguyen front and center of a story that reads like a gritty small-town crime Western judging by the trailer that aired back in October. Paramount Pictures is reportedly trying something new for its home distribution model, and they’re doing it with the October horror flicks, Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse and Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Don’t ask me about the latter because it’s not really my cup of tea, but the former does have its fair bit of fervor particulary over its affinity for ancillary next to its adherance to gore and all things zombie lore. CBS's SUPERGIRL Gets Seven More Episodes For Its First Season

Well, it’s been a definitive season of superhero fandom and the premiere of the new CBS installation of DC Comics property, Supergirl, certainly fits the mold. The show’s progress following its premiere back in October has led it to fruition as one of the highest rated and most-watched shows of the season, and so CBS is now ordering seven more for a total of 20 episodes for its first season. Actress Melissa Benoist stars in the title role, distant from her much more popular male cousin who discovers herself in the wake of Krypton’s destruction. Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh and Jeremy Jordan with David Harewood and Calista Flockhart also star in the series created and executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter in association with Warner Bros. Television.
