Garuda 7, Indonesia’s answer to The Expendables franchise has been in development for quite some time now, and has undergone a bit of evolution in the past year. Nowadays, it appears the forthcoming production is taking shape, as indicated by the official Facebook page where a new poster can be found brandishing its current cast listing. Check it out below: The Indonesian production will star kung fu cinema great, actor Billy Chong (a.k.a. Willy Dozan), and fellow Indonesian action veterans Barry Prima, Advent Bangun and George Rudy in a story centered on the titular Indonesian Secret Service team and its mission to protect their nation’s treasures. Hong Kong cinema veteran Baf Sjamsuddin (a.k.a. DEADPOOL Is Confirmed For February 2016!

The infamous “merc with a mouth” otherwise known as Deadpool has been a major subject of discussion over the last several years. Having been featured in the 2009 film, X-Men Origins: Wolverine by actor Ryan Renyolds, the character went on to become the very center of its own fan-driven movement for a self-titled film to do it justice. Test footage from Blur Studios also leaked online a few months back before 20th Century Fox pulled it. However, much to the favor of fans, the footage proved to be every bit as impressive as they hoped it would be, and it obviously left the fans wanting more, especially with the hopes of an R-rated production. Gina Carano's THE OPIUM WAR To Begin Filming In November

Mixed martial arts sensation and action actress Gina Carano (Fast And Furious 6, In The Blood) is still up for a possible role in the new sci-fi actioner, The Opium War, as per an announcement earlier this year. This week however, production for the film which was once slated sometime between July and September has been pushed back to November according to a new report from Syracuse. The film is being directed by Justin Steele from a script by Jeremy J. Levy and would join Carano with actor Stephen Lang in a story about a female astronaut who crash-lands and is offered a smuggling job that will pay for repairs to her ship. Kyle Stewart in REVERSE Canadian indie action filmmaker and stuntman Alex Chung‘s most recent solo act, Hit Me, is getting some extra attention at Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival – just one of several maneuvers his projects have been making in the past year. As such, a busy schedule can often at times get in the way, so he’s got a few projects that are still on the way or in the making as we speak. One such project is titled Reverse, a sequel to the 2009 shortfilm, Process Of Elimination – a gritty crime drama centered on a man’s infiltration into the criminal underworld to find the person responsible for his brother’s disappearance. Martial artist, actor and online content creator Aaron Gassor, better known by his nom de plume, Ginger Ninja Trickster, popped up on my radar as early as last year with the earlier promotion for his upcoming appearance in Marcus Shakesheff‘s directorial debut, Kamikaze. Needless to say, he’s been making waves within the martial arts cinema circles for sometime now, as a performer, as well as an athlete and instructor. If you’ve subscribed to his Facebook page at all within the past year, you’ve likely seen some amazing videos, including various solo and collaborative acts from time to time. His most recent get-together with Welsh indie group, Flawless Films can now be viewed online featuring Gassor at his most snarky in a Spider-Man costume opposite the Dark Knight himself, played by Jake Rogers. It’s pretty safe to say that director Toa Fraser‘s latest period action epic, The Dead Lands has become a film festival hit this season. The film has already earned its ample share of critical praise this month and plenty more can be expected as the film engages its viewership in its native New Zealand cinemas at the end of October. Fortunately, the film has already closed a huge slate of international deals last week, promising the film a much larger audience in places like the U.K. and Italy. Director Christopher McQuarrie is still in the process of directing Mission: Impossible 5, the latest installment of the title franchise with scribe Drew Pearce and lead actor Tom Cruise for its December 25, 2015. In the meantime, it appears that the two will not be partnering again for a second offering in the forthcoming Jack Reacher sequel from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions, following its announcement late last year. Live action cinematic adaptations of major action adventure novels are still a point of inspiration for film producers, and there are plenty that are in the works for TV and film, ranging from The Hunger Games and Divergent to properties like Jason Bourne, Mack Bolan and Rain as of late. Well, as of this week, Neal Moritz, Toby Jaffe and Ryan Kavanaugh are adding another to the mix in the form of Hunter Killer, with Green Lantern and Casino Royale helmer Martin Campbell back in the director’s chair. A modern day noir Romeo & Juliet love story set in Los Angeles is at the center of The Package (2012) helmer Jesse V. Johnson‘s newest noir crime drama, The Beautiful Ones. Johnson wrote and directed the film which has been on the way for a couple of years now, even host to a musical teaser as recent as last year. That teaser has since upgraded to a full-length trailer set for the film’s release sometime in 2015. Johnson reunites with Green Street Hooligans 2 actor Ross McCall, along with Fernanda Andrade, Brian Tee, Ed Lauter and Julie Warner rounding out the cast. It was back in July that plans were announced for the forthcoming production of Skull Island, an origin telling based on the iconic gorilla monster who has legacy has endured since the 1930’s. The project is being developed by Universal Pictures in association with Legendary Entertainment, the studio currently making a monster of a killing with Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla and its sequel, in addition to Jurassic World next year. This week, Legendary is now updating their developments with news of a casting addition in the form of actor Tom Hiddleston who will be joined by director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the helmer previously said to be working on the new Metal Gear Solid film with producer Avi Arad. Aiko Ashira Applies Her Particular Set Of Skills In The New Shortfilm Trailer For TAKEN TO SELL

Independent filmmaker Jeff Centauri is still very much active within the film circles in the Philippines as he’s currently aboard with stunt coordinator Sonny Sison (Broken Path, The Bladed Hand) and writer/director Enzo Williams for their upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry, Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo (Bonifacio: The First President). Until then, Centauri is on the way with another experimental action short dabbling once again with female-centered action in a familiar premise. He’s got a trailer for it as well in the form of Taken To Sell, with actress and model Aiko Ashira leading the story of a woman who sets out to find and rescue her sister from a band of human traffickers. The final weeks of publicity are here ahead the release of director Tsai Yueh-Tsun‘s new film, Black And White 2: The Dawn Of Justice. The 3D action-packed epic opens in Taiwan on October 2, with returning franchise actor Mark Chao starring alongside Kenny Lin and returning actor Huang Bo in a story of two hero policemen on an epic mission to stop a domestic terrorist organization from destroying the world following a deadly attack on Harbour City. This week, promotional efforts now fall in the hands of a final subtitled trailer, in addition to a brand new music video featuring singer Jam Hsiao performing the official theme song, Natural Enemy, now available on iTunes HK. Martial arts action star Donnie Yen has been drawing online crowds in anticipation of his next film, Kung Fu Jungle, which opens in Hong Kong and China the weekend of October 30. With new set pics now online accompanying the teaser and recent trailer, fans are ever hopeful that this next psychological pound-for-pound Fall thriller, directed by Teddy Chen will meet expectations. It’s been about a year since the most recent reports suggested, and then denied any possible attempt of reteaming director Paul Greengrass and actor Matt Damon for another installation of the Bourne franchise following the first trilogy… Oh, what a difference a year makes! It appears that Greengrass and folks at Universal were keeping a lid on things at first, and now Deadline is breaking the news that he and Damon are, in fact, on the pathway to another film of the franchise based on late author Robert Ludlum’s work. Director Antoine Fuqua‘s newest action thriller venture with actor Denzel Washington, The Equalizer, has already sprung the prospects of a sequel, as well as reports confirming his return to the set with his lead star for a remake of The Magnificent Seven. Needless to say, the duo long known for captivating audiences with the 2001 crime drama, Training Day make an awesome pairing, and moviegoers in North America will get to see more of this when The Equalizer releases on September 26 in 2D and IMAX from Sony Pictures; As for whether or not Washington will get to be the next Bond, well, your guess is as good as mine. Invariably, to describe the journey taken by director Peter Jackson in paving the way for J.R.R. Tolkien’s cinematic universe for The Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies as something “epic” almost doesn’t do it any justice.
