An Unlikely Hero Emerges In The Newest Action Shortfilm From ShabyVideos, STALLED

Fans of martial arts action and fans of TV shows like 24 will likely enjoy the latest new comedic action short, Stalled, from actor and filmmaker Shahaub Roudbari, formerly a member of U.S. and Iranian Wushu teams, and a film school graduate from the Academy Of Art in San Francisco. The piece sets up exactly the way it plays out on 24, during a moment of intense build up in real time between several screens as a small group of Asian would-be terrorists gather at an airport bathroom to assemble a bomb, except when they think they are alone, a man (Roudbari) walks out of one of the stalls flushing a toilet and sees what is happening. The New International Trailer For Kick-Ass 2 Is Online

The Jeff Wadlow-directed Kick-Ass 2 is set to hit theaters on August 16, 2013 courtesy of Universal Pictures. On that note, we now have a brand new, action packer trailer that made its way around the web this week, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jim Carrey. Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Olga Kurkulina, Morris Chestnut and Tom Knight round out the cast. The film, which Wadlow deems as his “anti-Avengers” movie, picks up a while after where the first one left off, with our heroes, Kick-Ass and Hit Girl doing what they do best, and building a heroic crimefighting following in the process until the vengeance-driven Red Mist is reborn as The Motherf*****r, with every intent of becoming Kick Ass’s greatest archvillain yet with a league of his own, The Toxic Megac***s. New Release Dates For THE EXPENDABLES 3 And THE ESCAPE PLAN

Much has yet to be decided about who will star in Australian filmmaker Patrick Hughes‘ upcoming third installment of the blockbuster Expendables franchise set to star returning action hero Sylvester Stallone, with exception of actors Mickey Rourke and Nicholas Cage, in addition to Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovivich and international superstar Jackie Chan who were last reported to be in “advanced talks”. Other rumored names were Antonio Banderas, Iko Uwais, Joe Taslim and Al Pacino. This week, things are moving one step forward with the latest update from The Hollywood Reporter that the Lionsgate/Summit Entertainment production now has an established release date set for August 15, 2014. No word yet on what the synopsis will be for the film, or if any of the original actors from Expendables 1 and 2 will return. Go Behind The Scenes Of ICEMAN 3D

It will be a while until martial arts fans worldwide will get to see action star Donnie Yen combat his foes, played by Wang Baoqiang and Yu Kang in a whirlwind of classic kung fu action and modern weaponry in the Law Wing-Cheong-directed Iceman 3D. But to hold us over until next year when part one will finally be released, we since have a first teaser, and now, some extra (but short) behind-the-scenes footage from the set of the film until we at least get some more trailers and updates about the film. Reportedly, the film did incredibly well, selling to distributors at last month’s Cannes Film Festival, so hopefully we will eventually receive some more footage soon. It appears Enlight Pictures is switiching its gears with a new trailer now up for the June 28 Mainland release of the latest new Jet Li actioner directed by Wang Tzu-Ming titled Badges Of Fury. Take into consideration that the film sold very well during the Cannes Film Festival. And having seen the first few trailers, anyone would have thought that the film was anything but a solid action film with an impresseive array of fight cuts designed by action director Corey Yuen. Today’s trailer changes all that, showcasing a barrage of balistic fists, kicks, blocking and flying. This is by far the juiciest “Badges” trailer I have seen, harkening back to the good old days of The Bodyguard From Beijing (1994) and My Father Is A Hero (1995) with Li, along with Collin Chou and Wu Jing starring in the film. The film is based on a screenplay by Amy Snow and was shot on location in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing and Macau. Jet Li’s upcoming action thriller from director Wang Tzu Ming, Badges Of Fury, has me a bit perplexed at times. With the most recent trailer, I gotta say I am convinced that action won’t be the film’s biggest selling point, especially if it is loaded with high jinks and comedic gags. But I take it that when Well Go USA releases it, that will all change and suddenly Jet Li will be front and center once again, even if it seems we will spend a good amount of it watching Wen Zhang chase women and be goofy. You may remember a while back in early May, prior to its 3D premiere in Cannes that an unofficial short teaser for the upcoming Eric Styles film, Legendary, made it’s way to the internet on a VERY low key. Well, that footage was since removed from that same YouTube channel until a proper trailer was made public. That day is today. And it’s certainly an improvement from the previous spot. Scott Adkins stars in the film along with Dolph Lundgren, Huang Yi, Nathan Lee, James Lance, Lydia Leonard and Geng Le. Actor, music sensation and martial arts star Jay Chou is on his way with a new film he scored and directed called The RooFToP, which is also being described as a colorful martial arts musical spectacle set in the 1970’s, and was shot in Taiwan, Beijing and Shanghai. The film is Chou’s acting/directorial follow-up to a film he did in 2007 called Secret, and is said to be closing act of this year’s New York Asian Film Festival. I’m not really huge on it per say, considering I don’t follow the Taiwanese music scene enough to really be keen to the fanfare surrounding the musical hype, but time will tell what further reviews suggest after its release on China on July 11. The Action Elite posted a new trailer today for an upcoming film that features an ensemble cast listing of award-winning, competitive freerunning athletes and martial arts performers called Shinobi Code from Airborn Entertainment. The film was an independent production and team effort led by prodigal student filmmaker, screenwriter and cinematographer Terry Cheung who directed the film a couple of years ago with no budget and a three man crew. With production now complete, only time will tell when the film will see an official release. The film stars Liverpool-native Ryan Doyle, a veteran traceur and an international champion martial artist and freerunner who served as the film’s co-editor, as well as the stunt/fight coordinator.
