BLACK MOON: Help Nicholas Ortiz Crowdfund His New Microbudget Indie Action Horror Thriller

Crowdfunding is underway for Black Moon, a new microbudget action horror thriller from director Nicholas Ortiz. Funds are currently being setup at GoFundMe with an initial starting goal of $6,500, with Ortiz and his team eyeing long-term fundraising is planned over the next few months during pre-production.
Ortiz’s film is inspired in part by the recent successes of microbudget features from directors Kane Parsons (Backrooms) and Curry Barker (Obssession) who’ve cut their teeth as creators on YouTube; Ortiz shepherds independent label Deviant Children Productions where he’s been honing his craft since 2009 with shortfilms of late like “Brothers,” “Black Betty,” and “Jugando Con Fuego” to name a few.
“Not only are these directors doing incredible work, those films, made for 1/100th of the average movie cost, are outpacing the output of the billion dollar legacy studios,” added Ortiz in a statement to friends and potential backers. “I think this represents a shift in the moviegoers, they want films not tied to IPs and rehashes of already great films, they want films for them, made by people just like them. And I know that BLACK MOON can be that next wave of indie films that speaks to the people.”
Black Moon marks Ortiz’s second indie feature since the release of his masked serial killer thriller, Siodmak, in 2012. Here’s a summary of the film’s synopsis: Moonlighting as a bike courier on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, Anya plies her trade as a new, yet skilled inductee into an organization that hunts vampires at night. After being bitten during a hunt, Anya is forced to choose between being cursed with death, or living as the very entity she committed to hunt down, unless killing the vampire that bit her can break her spell before sunrise, if the rumors are true!…
Ortiz describes the film as “a tense, horror action film, filled with scares, suspense and the incredible action scenes that Deviant Children Productions is known for delivering.” He’s also delineated character descriptions and point-by-point expenditures of the greater budget he and his team will be looking to accrue as development ramps up.
