Monday will mark the start of principal photography for Czech action epic, Medieval. The film’s latest exciting addition to the cast now brings news of actor Til Schweiger, according to Jeremy Kay at Screendaily. Ben Foster covets the central role of legendary 14th century war hero and strategist, Jan Zizka, who, along with his band of men are bound with the fate of an heiress to take down a rival king. As the report notes, Schweiger will portray Rosenberg, the wealthiest lord in the land with Caine playing Lord Boresh, Czech King Wenceslaus IV’s right-hand man. I’ve had handfuls of conversations about Peter Berg’s Mile 22, and they do sort of speak to my dimming enthusiasm for the film since the lot us penned and hyped the possibility of seeing Iko Uwais flourish in a new potential franchise. Admittedly, the more the PR became centric on Mark Wahlberg, the less I was sold on the idea of this film actually being prospective, and then came the reviews and reactions upon its theatrical release last month.It was also off-putting to learn in an interview at Empire that the creation of the character Wahlberg plays was partly inspired by this blithering piece of shit in particular, politics nothwithstanding. Director Marc Price’s new action comedy thriller, Nightshooters, is officially on deck for DVD release and Digital Download in the UK on December 26. The film, which stars SAG-Nominated rising martial arts star, Jean-Paul Ly (Jailbreak), will first have its day vying for Best UK feature’ at this year’s Raindance Film Festival in October. H Collective Expands Slate With iQIYI, Adds COUNTER SPY From Craig Kyle
Following the H Collective‘s acquisition of the xXx franchise, Variety has word that the film is now part of a six-film expansion deal with Chinese streaming service, iQIYI. A few titles have been made public in the report this week, namely action comedy Counter Spy which is said to be the first film coming from the deal going forward. Plot details are under wraps for the new project which former Marvel executive Craig Kyle is penning from an original draft by David Rothenberg and Lionel Enns. Kyle is best known for writing and producing a number of Marvel films and projects. He served on the creative committees for the inaugural MCU feature, Iron Man, and on Louis Leterrier’s The Incredible Hulk. It’s a matter of weeks and days as The Nice Guys and Iron Man 3 helmer Shane Black invades Earth with upcoming Fox release, The Predator. Until then, Collider’s Jeff Sneider is onto something else that’s been about ten years in the making with word of spy thriller, Cold Warrior, now reportedly landing at Netflix. Initally housed at Universal, Chuck Mondry originally penned the script for the film which centers on a retired Cold War-era spy who sets out to track down a terrorist with a younger agent. WWII Revenge Thriller, RUIN, Casts Robbie And Schoenaerts
Margot Robbie, currently starring in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, is now set to join Assassin’s Creed Helmer Justin Kurzel for WWII thriller, Ruin. As Deadline reports, will headline next to actor Matthias Schoenaerts from a script by Ryan and Matthew Firpo with Marc Butan of MadRiver Pictures is producing alongside Kurzel. Ruin is set to commence filming early next year in Prague, set in the ruins of post-WWII where a Holocaust survivor (Robbie) reluctantly forms an unlikely alliance with an ex-SS captain (Schoenaerts) to hunt down the surviving members of the captain’s former Nazi death squad.
