I was never exposed to Wes Craven’s 1982 classic iteration of DC property, Swamp Thing, growing up, whereas I instantly remember Jim Wynorski’s 1989 sequel that also returned now late actor Dick Durock in the dual role opposite Heather Locklear. Alas, it just so happens that UK distro banner 88 Films is also rolling the red carpet out for this one which has Ray Wise starring principally with Durock’s iconic performance for a dual format DVD/Blu-Ray release on March 25 release. It’s always interesting to see how distro companies aim to maintain the posterity of classic movies. Toei’s Sister Street Fighter Collection is no exception – I actually bought mine from HKFlix when BCI/Eclipse had theirs released in 2006, and it’s not a bad package either Going forward, we’ll soon find out what entails the upcoming collection to be released this March as Arrow Video sets out to release its own reprisal of the hit Etsuko Shihomi-led franchise spun-off from action star Sonny Chiba’s inaugural hit Street Fighter series – also from Toei. I’ve had handfuls of conversations about Peter Berg’s Mile 22, and they do sort of speak to my dimming enthusiasm for the film since the lot us penned and hyped the possibility of seeing Iko Uwais flourish in a new potential franchise. Admittedly, the more the PR became centric on Mark Wahlberg, the less I was sold on the idea of this film actually being prospective, and then came the reviews and reactions upon its theatrical release last month.It was also off-putting to learn in an interview at Empire that the creation of the character Wahlberg plays was partly inspired by this blithering piece of shit in particular, politics nothwithstanding.
