Following actor Sylvester Stallone’s confirmation for Escape Plan 2, The Tracking Board writes that Steven C. Miller has officially been tapped to direct the sequel. Miles Chapman, who wrote the first film is returning to script the second installment which will be co-produced and co-financed between Emmett/Furla/Oasis and Beijing-based Leomus Pictures.
Plot details are unclear as is the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger pending talks to reprise his role next to Stallone as seen in the 2013 hit film directed by Mikael Håfström. Randall Emmett and George Furla are producing with Leomus CEO Jie Qiu and Mark Canton, Zack Schiller and Robbie Brenner. Executive producing are Ted Fox, Mark Stewart, Barry Brooker and Stan Wertlieb with The Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones.
Miller himself has become a credited director with titles such as Bruce Willis headliners, Extraction and Marauders, and Nicolas Cage/John Cusack thriller, Arsenal, noted for his ability to bring high production value on low budgets and short schedules. Schwarzenegger and Lionsgate just rolled out their latest trailer for upcoming revenge drama, Aftermath, which opens in April.
