Time will tell how things bode for actor Ryan Reynolds who is currently busy being himself at times as seen in the video above on the set of Michael Bay’s new Netflix offering, 6 Underground. In the meantime, the reigning champion title holder of all things dead or injured by on-screen Marvel persona, Deadpool, will now stake his claim in Shawn Levy’s Free Guy for 20th Century Fox.
Matt Lieberman wrote the script (once a 2016 spec) which tells of a guy who, in Truman Show-fashion, teams up with an avatar to prevent the shut down of his world after learning he’s a background character living in a video game; The Truman Show (1998) starred Jim Carrey under director Peter Weir about a man who realizes he’s lived his whole life as the star of a fictional television show.
Reynolds will produce at Maximum Effort with 21 Laps whose Levy who will direct, and with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Adam Kolbrenner producing. George Dewey will executive produce.
Reynolds next appears in Rob Letterman’s Pokémon: Detective Pikachu next May. (Deadline)
