The wait is almost over, or so it seems, with three months to go before we finally get to see what director Kevin Tancharoen has in store for Kombat fans with Mortal Kombat Legacy: Season 2. Actor Mark Dacascos posted a link from co-star Brian Tee‘s WhoSay account on Facebook today from a private Los Angeles screening of all the episodes with the cast, saying the following:
Aloha! We had a cast and crew screening of Mortal Kombat Legacy, Season 2, last night. I can’t wait for you to see it.
They told us it would premiere on Machinima in September, 2013. Aloha, MD
Fans were given a brand new trailer back in February, in addition to a first-ever television spot in promotion of a webseries on AMC, followed by an extra sneak peak featured at an MIPCube event in Cannes back in April with Tancharoen and Warner Bros. executive Lance Sloane in attendance. Following the webseries will come the development of the film, which has since been confirmed. The film is co-scripted by MK: Rebirth and Men In Black 4 scribe
Oren Uziel and will go into pre-production this August just after comic-con, currently with season 2 actor
Casper Van Dien officially attached to play Johnny Cage, along with
Michael Jai White, reprising his role as Jax from
Mortal Kombat Legacy: Season One. No word yet on who is playing the other characters, although characters like Sonya Blade, Kabal and Goro have been mentioned in previous reports within the past year.
MK Legacy: Season 2 will star Van Dien as Cage, Tee as Liu Kang and Dacascos as Kung Lao, along with with returning actor Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion and actress Samantha Jo as Kitana. Other listed kombatants include Dave McInnis as Raiden, Eric Steinberg as Sub-Zero, Daniel Southworth as Kenshi, Eric Jacobus as Stryker, Michelle Lee as Mileena, Harry Shum as Tundra and Kim Do as Ermac, along with Cary Tagawa in a celebratory revival of his character, Shang Tsung from the 1995 film, Mortal Kombat.
