REBEL MOON Trailer Rises To The Occasion With Nearly Four Minutes Of Epic World-Building Sci-Fi And Thrills
Just in time for the crowd over at GamesCon on Tuesday came the arrival of the first, extensive trailer footage for Zack Snyder’s new sci-fi epic, Rebel Moon. Making good on the promise of a twofer is the included announcement of the first chapter titled A Child Of Fire on December 22, followed by The Scargiver next year on April 19.
From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes REBEL MOON, an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making.
When a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival.
Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Mother World, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge.
As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a battle over the fate of a galaxy is waged, and in the process, a new army of heroes is formed.
The trailer itself is as bold and sweeping, insinuating at something inherently truly ambitious. Whether or not it’s Snyder’s presumed answer to Star Wars is anyone’s guess until later this year but we’re not off to a bad start with Boutella clearly laying the groundwork for the fledgling lore she now leads.
Also starring are Djimon Hounsou, Charlie Hunnam, Bae Doo-na, Cary Elwes, Ed Skrein, Alfonso Herrera, Cleopatra Coleman, Ray Fisher, Corey Stoll and the unmistakable voice of Sir Anthony Hopkins among others.
