You can be certain the subject matter for this latest thriller is gonna split hairs among certain demographics. Rest assured, Wes Miller’s latest written and directed effort, River Runs Red, will get its day in select theaters and VOD on November 9. A Blu-Ray and Ultra HD release will follow suit on December 11.
River Runs Red centers on a successful judge who, with the aid of a tenacious detective, learns his son’s murder was the continuation of a pattern of unchecked violence by two corrupt cops, and teams up with another grieving father to put an end to their reign of terror. Taye Diggs (Empire TV series, The Best Man, The Best Man Holiday), John Cusack (Blood Money, Arsenal) and George Lopez (Rio, Rio 2, upcoming El Chicano) lead the cast with R.J. Mitte (The Recall) and Luke Hemsworth (Hickok, Kill Me Three Times).
“With River Runs Red, Wes delivers a provocative, gripping spin on the classic vigilante genre,” said Yolanda Macias, Cinedigm’s executive vp acquisitions. “The entire cast is top-notch, and audiences will be stirred by the sheer dramatic force of Taye and George’s performances.”
Miller added: “Having previously partnered with Cinedigm on Prayer Never Fails, I am thrilled to be working with them again on River Runs Red. They have proven themselves to be agile, forward-thinking partners, who embrace new formats like 4K, boast a deep network of digital relationships and work closely with filmmakers to develop and tailor the marketing and release strategy for a film.”
The Hollywood Reporter’s own Hilary Lewis broke the announcement along with an exclusive trailer which you can view by clicking here.
