Today is the day indie martial arts cinema fans and internet viewers finally get to see the release of stunt actor and filmmaker Micah Brock’s webseries feature-length finale, Slug Street Scrappers 3: Beat Em’ Up, from Whirlwind Action and Dragon Phoenix Entertainment.
The webseries, which began production in 2010, pays ohmage to classic Beat Em’ Up fighting games of the late 80s and early-mid 90s, blending tributes to games such as Streets Of Rage & Tekken with a touch of Ong Bak-stylized fight choreography. The story itself take place in the fictional town of Scrappertown, where participants engage in an urban street tournament to compete for the ultimate title of “The Toughest In Town” under the watchful eyes of the mysterious sensei known only as “The Revered One”. But underneath it all, each character has their own motives and story arcs that further bring the trilogy full circle, with amazing fight sequences showcasing multiple styles of martial arts, and creative costume and character designs to the screen with a story that deals in quirky romance, awkward comedy, and solid action.
Director Micah Brock aims to entertain, with quality action and raw creativity in adhering to a niche audience that loves and appreciates what the independent action film genre has to offer.
SSS3 stars Brock himself, along with co-star/choreographer Shaun Charney, and cast members Katelyn Brooke, Narayana Cabral, Mason Sharrow, Tess Kielhamer, Andy Le, Brian Le, Anna Kristina Ranoso, Mari Saito, Jimmy Chhiu, Dominic Sherman, Rocky Chavez, Maggie Clarke and many others. Take time today or tonight, make a movie night, grab a snack and watch this last installation, filled to the bone with fisticuffs, quirky comedy, music and some of the most crisp martial arts choreography you will ever see.

Bruiser Bom-Bash, a man who holds the coveted Scrapper title of, “Toughest in Town”, is well-known on Slug Street… and well-loathed. He is particularly hated by former title-holder, Peaches Powers (who also happens to be his ex-girlfriend). To this day, Peaches has never learned why she was dumped by Bruiser, and has never forgiven him for it. But, when new facts about the purpose of the Slug Street Scrappers come to light, her plans for revenge become a little more… complicated.
