MMA star and actor Cung Le’s continued foray into film has been a bit more quiet in recent memory, even having at one point circulated a proof-of-concept titled Codename: The Dragon through his website. That particular project remains on ice as far as I can tell, while all eyes are now glaring at Le’s current activity since the summer promoting Evoke Entertainment Group’s The Target which is on deck to begin filming very soon. For this, Le just unveiled a behind-the-scenes featurette highlighting the casting call and training for the film. Le is also producing the film via with actress Veronica Ngo who is sharing the weight via her Studio68 banner which housed the production of her forthcoming February release, Furie, from director Le Van Kiet. Follow action movies long enough and you’re likely one of the many in line waiting to find out what director Jesse V. Johnson has in store with upcoming ensemble thriller, Triple Threat. When it was announced last year in a series of reports that martial arts stars Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror would be returning to the screen, Savage Dog had no more than names and a logline attached to some tentative artwork. It’s something of a mystery to me as to why that was but thankfully the film has earned its way to completion and now we have an official trailer of sorts to start things off with. It was just this summer when we finally learned of director Jesse Johnson’s latest return to the director’s chair for period action thriller, Savage Dog. The attachment of actor and martial artist Scott Adkins certainly emboldened things a bit followed by news of fellow stars Marko Zaror and Cung Le along with actress JuJu Chan certainly helped keep things afloat as production moved forward. The promotional campaign for the film hasn’t officially begun yet although what came of it about a month ago was a mock promotional poster which you can click here to check out. Actor Scott Adkins is already reaping acclaim among Fantastic Fest attendees in the hours since catching wind of the premiere of Todor Chapkanov’s Boyka: Undisputed. Partly it’s a matter of great timing as well with director Jesse Johnson in the wake of updating his own website with a fresh new poster headling his newly completed film, Savage Dog. Details on the film have remained all but scant on the story since the film was unveiled ahead of production at Cannes back in May. While all we know of director Jesse V. Johnson’s latest production, Savage Dog, is what were shown on the Cannes poster, the expectations are high with action stars, actors Scott Adkins and Marko Zaror, and actress JuJu Chan starring. That said, Zaror himself seems the go-to guy as of late via Instagram as much in touch as he is with his fanbase about his projects. For this, we get a new photo of Zaror cheering his fellow co-star, actor Cung Le whose best known credits on film include Bodyguards And Assassins (2009), The Man With The Iron Fists (2012) and Puncture Wounds (2014). It was back in early October that investments were secured for at least two more films in a deal struck between producer Steven Paul of SP International Pictures, SSXH Beijing and Max Screen Film Distribution. One of those two films mentioned was Alain Desrochers‘s latest from Millenium Films, Security, with a $15 million dollar budget now being applied to its photography with locations set in Bulgaria at Nu Image studios, and possibly China depending on the direction of the production. That stated, veer over to Cung Le‘s most recent Instagram post where he’s joined by lead actor Antonio Banderas who, in the film, will play a newly hired security guard forced to protect a young girl from a deadly gang looking to silence her before her day in court as a witness. In the course of the past year or so, fans of MMA star, actor and martial artist Cung Le have been keen on certain posts relevant to Le‘s Hashtag, #CodenameTheDragon. New set photos are emerging from the set of the set of martial arts action star Cung Le‘s latest film, A Certain Justice, which is set for a 2014 release. The film is written and directed by James Coyne, and co-directed by Giorgio Serafini, who credits also include the 2010 Wesley Snipes actioner, Game Of Death, and the upcoming action picture, Blood Of Redemption.
