UPDATED: New (Fan Made) Character Poster For BERANDAL

Correction: When I shared the poster below, I was under the impression this was actor Very Tri Yulisman according to a cast listing I saw on Facebook. I tweeted Gareth several hours ago and this was his response: “@ghuwevans: @FCSyndicate not sure where that came from but it’s not from us and that’s not our actor for baseball bat man.” So, I bet we will see some more verifiable material in the days and months ahead. It took me a while to gather just who this particular character was in this peculiar-looking character poster below floating around Facebook today promoting director Gareth Evans‘s latest urban Silat action martial arts blockbuster The Raid 2: Berandal. Well, after lots of googling and searching, I came to find out that the name of the individual with the brilliant physique branding a considerably threatening baseball bat and an inconspicuous tattoo on his shoulder is […]

Donnie Yen Splits ICEMAN COMETH 3D In Two, And Counting…

Several reports came in on the week of May 10, 2013, stating that the production of Iceman Cometh 3D would be turned into an epic story completed in two productions in order to cover the cost of what was initially one film, directed by Law Wing Cheong and scheduled for a 3D screening at Cannes soon. The news came as a result of the production having been overbudgeted from $100 million HKD to $250 million HKD, in addition to the extra efforts with lead actor and action director Donnie Yen and the crew having to build a bridge set after failing to obtain permission from the Hong Kong to shoot an epic scene on the Tsing Ma Bridge involving a Ferrari, and Donnie on horseback. As far as the first film goes, we know that Yen will star along with Simon Yam, Eva Huang, Wang Baoqiang, Benny Chan, Bai Baihe, […]

Baby Plans Go Awry For Two Criminals In The New Webseries, TAINTED LOVE

It’s probably a good thing that Orlando Jones wasn’t too serious about taking over Tyler Perry’s original character, Madea in any upcoming films, otherwise he and director Avi Youbian wouldn’t have had the time to bring us his latest role in Tainted Love, a bold, new graphic novel, stylized action comedy webseries from Machinima Prime. The new series has already premiered its first season episode on Sunday May 5, with its second, airing on Thursday, May 9, and you can definitely tell that its not for the faint of heart. TAINTED LOVE is laced with raw, mature humor, brutal action violence and vulgarity–all the juicy things you would see in an R-rated movie (or Adult Swim…or Max After Dark. Whatevs.) So far, the episodes range anywhere from over five to six minutes. But needless to say, considering the type of quality comedic action content here, the show aims to please. […]

One Man Takes His Long-Awaited Vengeance In THE ENIGMA

I meant to write about this particular short film when I discovered it in my news feed a few weeks ago. I was unable to watch it at the time because my internet slowed down and I had work to do anyway. Thankfully I friended the director behind this awesome shortfilm called “The Enigma” directed by student filmmaker and cinematographer, Trey Drysdale (pictured left), so hopefully I will get to talk with him a little more in the near future about his plans The short film is mainly about a man who suffers from symptoms of an obsessive compulsive disorder resulting from the traumatic experiences of seeing the bodies of his dead parents at a young age. Haunted by the memory of his father’s blood on his hands, he is mentally tormented by an image of a killer whose most memorable feature was knife with a grip in the shape […]

THE FORGE: More Than A Film. It's A Message.

It is with a bittersweet sense of joy and fulfillment that I finally got in touch with independent filmmaker Stephen Reedy, who I, among many, have been a fan of ever since the release of the hit film, Contour (a.k.a. The Agent). It was through a post today shared by another indie action filmmaker, of the shortfilm you are about to see in the embed below titled, The Forge, an interpretive, artful and visually stunning fantasy action piece starring Eric Lim (pictured above) as a man trapped in a fiery hell battling his demons.  But more than a mere action gem, THE FORGE is a spirited, narrative story about courage it takes to deal with tragedy, and to forge one’s self from devastating pain and sorrow to become something greater and stronger against the odds. The film was funded by previously saved money left behind by Eric’s late sister, Tanya, […]

There are MANY teams out there who are performing and making a name for themselves, and as it is, I try to contact as many of them as possible on Facebook or email in the hopes to get in touch with them. Some of these excellent performers are very busy people, which I respect. In the first several months of my page’s […]
