Statham Boards Shark Attack Thriller, MEG, For Warner Bros

Action star Jason Statham’s recently hyped announcement for upcoming action thriller, High Value Target, is apparently still on the backburner, and it’s a bit of a bummer. At any rate though, I guess seeing him take on a giant shark will do, as per the latest reports from last week so state for the new thriller, Meg. Jon Turtletaub is directing from a script by Dean Georgaris which takes its inspiration from Steve Alten’s 1997 novel, “Meg: A Novel Of Deep Terror”. The film sees Statham going to head to head with a shark killing swimmers along the China coast, and one that turns out to be a Megaladon – a prehistoric shark with a bite that real-life research cites once a measurement of at least 11 feet long before its extinction about a million and a half years. The film hails from Warner Bros with Lorenzo di Bonaventura is […]

Statham And Chasman Join Road Pictures For New Kidnapping Thriller

There’s no question regarding action star Jason Statham‘s sustenance and especially with the help a strong fanbase. Hype especially plays a big role and for this, even talks of a possible third Crank film continue making the rounds. Until then, sticking with the headlines is better suited so as to avoid confusion, so keep in mind previous reports of his forthcoming move to television with Layer Cake sequel series, Viva La Madness. Furthermore and much more to the point is Statham‘s newly reported attachment to an untitled action thriller he will produce with producer Steven Chasman, according to Screendaily. The new film will be written by Kurt Wimmer who supplied the screenplay for the upcoming remake of Point Break opening next month, as well as a treatment for Salt 2. FAST 8 Directors' Shortlist Nails Down To Four

The past several weeks have been pretty rickety with the development of the upcoming eighth installment of the Fast And Furious saga. Actor and series producer Vin Diesel‘s name has been one in the rumor mill for sometime now along with an array of contentious blurbs from around the web regarding troubles finding a director, issues which Diesel at one point made clear were non-existent with the congruent search for a director. Alas, the search continued and while Rob Cohen, director of the very first film of the franchise, The Fast And The Furious was up for the seat this go-around, it’s also been reported not meant to be. And with that, Variety now concludes the search is down to four directors: F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton), Adam Wingard (The Guest), Louis Leterrier (Now You See Me) and Will Eubank (The Signal). News also started picking up recently with […]

Statham Actioner, VIVA LA MADNESS, Goes To TV

Action star Jason Statham made headlines two years ago with producer Steve Chasman upon the announcement of their acquisition of UK crime novelist, author J.J. Connolly’s 2011 literary Layer Cake sequel Viva La Madness. Since then the plan was to adapt it for film following the first film adap in 2004 which featured Daniel Craig in the role of a nameless drug dealer whose exit from the field gets a monkey wrench tossed in with Neo-Nazis in search of missing Ecstasy and a wealthy socialite’s missing daughter. This week, reporting from THR is news that instead of the big screen, Connolly’s work is now headed to television. Gaumont International Television is producing the series with a script by Connolly himself who journeys our character from the Caribbean back in the throes of the criminal underworld thanks to two money launderers, only to see himself caught in the middle of a […]

We’ve got new action shorts and reels of all kinds to snack on this week in addition to some brief updates on major projects that are forthcoming! For now though, let’s face it: The only way I’m starting off this Hit List is if I do it with one of the most popular videos online to date, and if you’re a Jason Statham fan, you’ll understand. It’s a supercut of every single punch Statham has ever thrown. Ever. And it needs no further introduction than that. Beneath that will be the week’s stunt playlist with a slew of action, stunt and training reels by Noah Fleder, Awaken star Natalie Burn, stuntman Djibril Newik Chase, independent filmmaker Shahaub Roudbari, Mirkos Radas, John Renyolds, Uros Certic, Amiee Zannoni, Cornered webseries co-star, actor Bobby Hernandez and action actor Angel Vasquez. Glu Announces Partnership With Jason Statham For SNIPER X: KILL CONFIRMED

I’m not much of a mobile gamer, much less a gamer at all. Nonetheless Glu’s latest announcement from Tuesday sure garners some appeal for fans as enticing as it may be now that they’re partnering with action hero Jason Statham. Sniper X: Kill Confirmed will be what lies ahead for anyone with a smartphone or a tablet, so I reckon a lot people will be glued to their phones much more when the game releases. At any rate, this should help bide time for Statham fans along with the forthcoming home releases of Furious Seven and Spy since Summitt/Lionsgate’s sequel thriller, Mechanic: Resurrection, moved from its original April date and won’t be here for another year on August 26…that’s a hell of a jump, and quite intriguing. Announcement below! Glu Mobile Inc. (NASDAQ:GLUU), a leading global developer and publisher of free-to-play games for smartphone and tablet devices, today announced the […]

Tony Jaa Issues An Official Statement After Sahamongkol Drops Its Case

2015 has been great to Thai action star, Tony Jaa, following his long-disputed departure from his former career base at Sahamongkol under founding film producer Somsak Techaratanaprasert (a.k.a. Sia Jiang). The two have since mutually parted ways with Techaratanaprasert dropping his case altogether following failed false contract dispute claims in the past few years against Jaa in what has otherwise been a contentious litigatory battle that ultimately threatened to halt the star’s Thai releases of Skin Trade with Dolph Lundgren, as well as his Hollywood debut in James Wan’s Furious Seven and that of Soi Cheang’s SPL 2: A Time For Consequences just as likely. That said, Jaa and his team issued a statement via the action star’s Facebook page which you may read below: Dear Members of the Press and Public,  As you are aware, there have been misunderstandings between Sahamongkol Film International Co., Ltd. (Sahamongkol Film) and I […]

Jason Statham Confirms His Return In FURIOUS 8

Lest I be the one to tell you what happens at the end of director James Wan’s Spring blockbuster hit, Furious Seven, you can catch the movie in an extended edition Blu-Ray with over 100 minutes of behind-the-scenes content this September. Incidentally, you will also spend some of the best two hours and change of the saga as a whole with film chock-filled with intensity, poignancy and explosive action, followed by a heartfelt farewell to franchise principle, late actor Paul Walker who played Brian O’Connor. In the meantime, franchise newcomer, action legend Jason Statham was on hand this weekend with several of the principle stars this weekend to usher in Fast And Furious: Supercharged, the newest ride at Universal Studios, and Access Hollywood managed to get in just a few words with Statham about a few things, including the next film, Furious 8. Statham took the villainous reigns in Furious […]

REVIEW: I SPY With My Little Eye, Something Beginning With AWESOME!

SYNOPSIS: Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another top agent (Jason Statham) is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster. REVIEW: Paul Feig’s Spy, the latest film in what I will now describe going forwards as ‘The McCarthy & Feig Trilogy’, is one of those rare movie experiences that gives you everything you wanted and expected from a film when you walk into the auditorium, but also leaves you grinning from ear to ear on the way out at the unexpected treats found within. A bit like going into the bathroom for a wee, and noticing a box of Ferrero Roche once you’re finished washing your hands. Bonus! I’m not going […]

Watch The Newest Trailer For Paul Feig's Action Comedy, SPY

If there’s one thing that director Paul Feig is proving with newest action comedy, Spy, it’s the danger of underestimating a good thing. The new film starring Melissa McCarthy and action star Jason Statham has already received several upworthy reviews following its SXSW premiere earlier this month, landing this as a considerably entertaining piece of work from the Feig/McCarthy duo in lieu of their forthcoming Ghostbusters prosepcts. Keep this in mind, should the earlier red and green-band trailers from January have slipped under your radar, as the film just got a new trailer which you can now watch below ahead of its June 5 release. And to say the least, with some cool R-rated action to accommodate, McCarthy doesn’t miss a beat here either. SYNOPSIS: Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude […]

FURIOUS 7 Releases An Extended Second Trailer!

In the wake of the latest superbowl spot for director James Wan‘s Furious 7, we now have an extended trailer that delves much more into the action with further insight into the antagonistic and vengeful Lucas Shaw, played by the one and only Jason Statham. The trailer also shares a little bit more of late actor Paul Walker‘s character on screen while it is noticeable that we have seldom seen or heard him in any of the trailers so far, a bittersweet reminder of the task at hand of maintaining his character long enough on screen using hybrid mo-cap and digital enhancements with the help of Walker‘s brothers, Caleb and Cody. The franchise has surely come a long way, having evolved into a purely character-driven saga based on family, trust as well as speed. With the caliber of stars and action muscle on-hand, there’s no doubt that this installment of […]

Jason Statham Talks WILD CARD In A New Featurette

WILD CARD poster (UK) Fans of cinematic badass, actor and action star Jason Statham will find themselves in good company this year with the forthcoming release of Spy and Furious 7 this Summer and Spring. However, his first step back on the big screen will arrive shortly in the U.S. with the revisit to a Burt Renyolds cult classic, now in the form of Wild Card which sees our hero, a gambling addict deep in the thick of the Las Vegas criminal underbelly and desperate to fight his way while out forced to deal with an array of thugs just waiting to be tossed about! It’s a promising act for Statham who has already proven quite well that he can stand on his own with recent critical hits like Parker (2013) and Homefront (2014), so hopefully you’ll have your weekend planned to go and support the film as so deserved. Melissa McCarthy Goes Above The Call Of Duty In The New Trailer For SPY!

I suppose there’s a reason nowadays that comedic actress Melissa McCarthy is currently being sought for a role in the long-awaited production of the new Ghostbusters film to be directed by Paul Feig. Whatever reason that may be, if you didn’t see it in Bridesmaids back in 2011 or their initial 2013 pairing with actress Sandra Bullock in The Heat, perhaps their latest fish-out-of-water offering in Spy will suit you best. Action star Jason Statham offers his fair share of comedy relief alongside the likes of actress Rose Byrne and actor Jude Law for the film’s forthcoming release on May 22, 2015. And on that note, two new trailers online courtesy of Yahoo!, including a lovely Red-Band trailer with McCarthy and Statham flexing their best mouthy muscles yet, and if you’re sensitive about unicorns, consider yourself warned. SYNOPSIS via Comingsoon.net: Susan Cooper (Melissa McCarthy) is an unassuming, deskbound CIA analyst, […]

Jason Statham's WILD CARD Gets A Kick-Ass Red Band-style Japanese Trailer!

Hands down, this is the best trailer I’ve seen for action star Jason Statham‘s new film, Wild Card. Klock Worx is releasing the new thriller next month a few weeks after Lionsgate’s U.S. release with other territories pending, and with that in mind, while it is awesome to see the trailers we’ve seen, I think it’s safe to say they’re probably the most tame. This one, right here delivers the utmost goods. Japan knows what Statham fans like. Bow humbly.

Jason Statham Deals A Deadly Hand In The New Trailer For WILD CARD

Who wants to see another Jason Statham movie?! Well you needn’t look further than the action star and producer’s new crime thriller, Wild Card, pitting him against Las Vegas’s criminal underworld where his skills as a former Marine comes quite handy! The film is inspired by award-winning author William Goldberg’s 1985 novel, Heat, and a reboot of the previous film that followed with Statham lending his own touch to a character handed down by its predecessor, actor Burt Renyolds, and will undoubtely serve as an excellent Statham vehicle for fans looking to see the bonafide action hero hold his own on the big screen once again. SYNOPSIS: Nick Wild (Jason Statham) is a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal professional skills and a personal gambling problem. When a friend is beaten by a sadistic thug, Nick strikes back, only to find out the thug is the son of a powerful mob […]

Jason Statham Leaps Into Action In A New Poster For WILD CARD

Planning to hit the movies next year? Well, you might as well add another to your watch list if you’re heavily into bonafide action star Jason Statham now leading the way for a good serving of cracked ribs, broken noses and crippled egos in the upcoming release of the new crime thriller, Wild Card. The film revamps the more controversial 1986 Burt Renyolds starrer based on author William Goldman’s 1985 novel, “Heat”, and we finally got a glimpse of what that would look like in the latest international trailer which you can see at the bottom of the page. Hopefully the fans will be there this time around as Statham continues to carry his own weight as an action star in post-Transporter phase, lest we end up with the same results with Parker and Hummingbird (a.k.a. Redemption) last year, and both were really good movies. Anyway, the film has a […]

Jason Staham Brings The Pain In The New International Trailer For JOKER

Kicking and punching, bleeding, pain, getting tossed through windows, etc. – Such is the message you get if you’re a baddie and you cross paths with action cinema favorite, Jason Statham, now front and center in the new movie, Wild Card, now due for a December 7, 2014 January 30, 2015 release in the U.S.. The film comes nearly thirty years after author William Goldman’s 1985 Warner Books publication, “Heat”, led to its first film adaptation a year later with then-lead actor Burt Renyolds, which turned out to be more controversial in its troubled state of production at the time. For this revamp however, Statham is producing under his SJ Heat Productions, LLC banner with Steve Chasman, reuniting Statham with The Expendables 2 and The Mechanic helmer Simon West. The film is also getting released internationally as Joker. Of course, that is unless you’re not getting kicked, punched and thrown through […]
