If Godzilla VS Kong hasn’t fully satisfied your monster movie appetite since this Spring, there’s also the promise of finally getting to see one of Marvel’s most menacing villains on the big screen in sequel fashion with Venom: Let There Be Carnage coming to theaters on September 24. The official trailer is now streaming as well, and despite the mixed reactions drawn from the inaugural 2018 film, that it faired well enough to garner a sequel will hopefully guarantee something more promising for those disappointed by the first film. Peep it above, as well as the newest poster down below. Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as the lethal protector Venom, one of MARVEL’s greatest and most complex characters. Directed by Andy Serkis, the film also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris and Woody Harrelson, in the role of the villain Cletus Kasady/Carnage.
Gareth Evans (Merantau, The Raid, The Raid 2, Gangs Of London) is directing action thriller, Havoc, for Netflix, as announced by the streamer on Friday. The film, which will star Tom Hardy (Dunkirk, Venom, Legend) will stand as first in line from an exclusive directing/producing deal Evans has signed with the company for the next several years, following fhe streamer’s release of his 2018 period psych horror thriller, Apostle. After a drug deal gone wrong, a bruised detective must fight his way through a criminal underworld to rescue a politician’s estranged son, while unraveling a deep web of corruption and conspiracy that ensnares his entire city. Hardy is also producing, as will Evans via his One More One Productions banner, next to Ed Talfan for Severn Screen and Aram Tertzakian for XYZ Films. Evans previously teased the project a little bit back in 2019, prior to XYZ’s own Todd Brown […]
Sony Pictures, for what it’s worth, may be all in with all things spiders and superheroes in the years to come with a whole line-up of characters in the works for film and likely even TV. The darkly-pursued anti-hero, Venom, stands as one of them with Ruben Fleischer at the helm and with a profile bolstering steadily among fandoms, including most recently at Comic-Con in San Diego. That milestone now brings us a second official trailer in which we are further immersed into the world of Eddie Brock, a reporter whose investigation into a seedy corporation experimenting with alien symbiotes now find him at the center of his own interpersonal crisis. Invaded and corrupted by a symbiote of his own, Brock is now at a precipice where he’s forced to mitigate with a vicious supernatural parasite to survive while, as the trailer shows, other symbiotes take on other hosts. If […]
Save for those who’ve read “Lethal Protector” and “Planet Of The Symbiotes”, it still stands a mystery as to how Ruben Fleischer’s new comic book movie, Venom, will pan out by its October 5. What’s not a mystery anymore is just what justice, exactly, lead actor Tom Hardy might do when he dons the iconic character himself in full bloom – which he finally gets to in the newly-released trailer now here following its CinemaCon airing and a pre-emptive online leak. And the newest poster is no joke either! Tom Hardy is joined by Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze and Reid Scott for this latest R-rated bit of fanfare inspired by the Marvel Comics’ 1984 Spider-Man offshoot which became official in title in 1988. For this, time will tell how long it’ll be before we witness actor Woody Harrelson spawning the red symbiote as Carnage following rumors that sprung […]
Things are boding well for Sony and all things Spider-Man. Their latest take on the villainous Venom is now shaping up for the solid start of a trilogy which could well veer into Spidey territory as things move forward. Alas, the studio is finally unveiling an official teaser and comic book fans are already reeling, and not for nothing. Indeed Tom Hardy stands to gain quite a bit from his incarnation of Eddie Brock and the footage amply dispels that mystery accordingly…sans costume that is, but we do get a good visual of the very symbiote the Marvel property is based on as well as that of Michelle Williams which hints further that our titular anti-hero might not be alone in donning the symbiotic alien armor. Whatever the case may be, updates on comic book movies can be fickle and so we’ll be sharing the solid stuff in due time. […]
Sure to abstain from Tom Holland’s current reign as Marvel hero “Spider-Man”, director Reuben Fleischer has since taken the mantle for Sony’s latest dark superhero pivot, Venom, based on the aforementioned property and currently spinning off with its own film adaptation. Tom Hardy stars in the title character for the film’s slated release next October, and can be seen in the first official set photo shared over at the film’s verified Twitter account. Day 1. #Venom pic.twitter.com/ftkf9pEWn3 — Venom Movie (@VenomMovie) October 24, 2017 Venom was created by Randy Schueller, David Michelinie, Mike Zeck and Todd McFarlane. Having first appearer in 1984, it would gain further prominence as a villain several years later as an alien symbiote who needs a host to survive, ultimately taking on several including Peter Parker rival, Eddie Brock. Hardy’s performance will be the first of the character’s full-fledged return to live-action cinema in eleven years since Spider-Man […]
Sony Pictures took to social media on Friday to announce its choice in actor Tom Hardy for the title role of the upcoming franchise reboot, Venom. Reuben Fleischer will direct the film from a script by Scott Rosenberg and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 scribe Jeff Pinkner and with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing along with Amy Pascal. The news comes following the film’s announcement back in March in wake of plans to reboot Marvel property Spider-Man now in affect with Jon Watts’s forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming starring Tom Holland, and adaptations of Black Cat and Silver Sable also in the works. Fleischer’s addition replaces The Mummy helmer Alex Kurtzman who was originally tapped to helm. Venom was created by Randy Schueller, David Michelinie, Mike Zeck and Todd McFarlane in 1984 and would gain further prominence as a villain several years later. The crux of the character centers on him as an […]
There’s no way you can look at the latest trailer for Christopher Nolan’s new movie, Dunkirk, and avoid feeling a nightmarish chill that comes with the visible anarchy further emboldened by Han Zimmer’s chilling score by the end. Of that, I am certain, and for this, of the sheer, continued brilliance behind the vision of the man who once brought Batman to life fervently for its own roaring trilogy. Here now with actors Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance and Cillian Murphy among a raft of young and old actors portraying anywhere from commonfolk to soldiers, Nolan’s latest immerses you in the summer of 1940 on the beaches of the titular war-torn French village where French and British allies use their as many of their resources, aerial and naval, to save as many as 300,000 soliders with the German army looming. July 21 is the official release date of the film and […]
To date, George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road stands as one of the most continually stimulating films to date. Thus, its future franchise prospects notwithstanding, the film’s critical and commercial success have since allowed for Miller and the studio to pitch a version of the film in Black And Chrome for an alternative delivery in coloring and display. That version now has DVD and Blu-Ray availability in the U.S. while Warner Bros Pictures is gracing fans of the film in the U.K. with a one day Black And Chrome screening on Sunday, April 30. That leaves a few days for U.K. residents to check their local listings for locations and showtimes to watch as Tom Hardy’s Max and Charlize one-armed Furiosa fight to defend a group of desperate slave wives from an army of occult soldiers and a dying Citadel led by tyrannical warlord Immortan Joe, played by none other […]
Chronicle helmer Josh Trank may not have earned a lot of favor with his most recent efforts on Fantastic Four, but he’s moving on and switching gears a bit with news out of Berlin following the annoucement of gangster drama, Fonzo. Pre-production is this summer with cameras slated to roll this Fall and with none other than Legend and Mad Max: Fury Road star, Academy Award® nominee Tom Hardy landing the title role. A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Alfonse Capone was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore. At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Alfonse’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life. Hardy will star from Trank’s script with Bron Studio’s Aaron L. Gilbert (Fences, Beatriz at Dinner, The Birth of […]
Actor Tom Hardy has some good news happening on the film front in various reports, one such including Deadline‘s latest piece on upcoming action thriller, Triple Frontier. SAG Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage, Moonlight) will be joining Hardy for Paramount Pictures, as will actor Channing Tatum once confirmed. A Most Violent Year helmer J.C. Chandor is set to direct the film. Plot details are nil but the word is the film will focus on unstable criminal activities along junctioning rivers at the border between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil. Producing are Charles Roven and Alex Gartner of Atlas Entertainment along with the film’s screenwriter, Mark Boal. Ali also stars in Robert Rodriguez’s current production of Alita: Battle Angel and director Michael Larnell’s Roxanne Roxanne which premiered at Sundance in January.
Just a little over a few months since production began for writer and director Christopher Nolan’s new World War 2 thriller, Dunkirk, we’ve now come to with a first trailer announcing the film ahead of its July 21 release next year. There’s not much to spot right away in terms of star power but you’re immediately set into the unpredictability of planes flying overhead as soldiers land on the beach with hell about to break loose. Pretty intense stuff! SYNOPSIS: “Dunkirk” opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in. “Dunkirk” features a prestigious cast, including Tom Hardy (“The Revenant,” “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Inception”), Mark Rylance (“Bridge of Spies,” “Wolf Hall”), Kenneth Branagh (“My Week with Marilyn,” “Hamlet,” “Henry V”) and Cillian Murphy […]
2016 will be a year for quite a few notable, big scale World War II movies, and Warner Bros. has indeed stepped into the fray with its own offering for the new action thriller, Dunkirk. The film is finally underway with locations planned in U.S. and throughout Europe with a long-hyped release date stamped for July 21, 2017, and with nothing short of a rewarding cast lined up led by the new face of all things Mad Max himself, The Revenant co-star, actor Tom Hardy in his latest pairing with Nolan since Inception (2010) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). The studio’s latest press release is now viral with plenty of details below! BURBANK, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Warner Bros. Christopher Nolan (“Interstellar,” “Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy) is directing “Dunkirk” from his own original screenplay, […]
“Believe me when I say, it took a lot of love for me to hate him the way I do.” – Frances Shea There is a scene late in the film that inspired me to write this review. To be sure, I didn’t plan it. Twas a film I sat down to watch and, exclusively, enjoy one private evening, alone, and with no obligation to evaluate it. But, well, here it is; this film’s poignancy compelled me. It’s revelations and turning points, its character arcs, and the constant reminder that Legend is inspired by a true story. There is a thing about biopics; they always take massive (damaging and oftentimes incorrigibly insulting) liberties with the source material, alienating anyone still living from the story told, as well as anyone watching with even a passing knowledge of the history on which the film is based. This happened with Cinderella Man back […]
Last year was a tremendous year to be director George Miller. The release of his latest film, Mad Max: Fury Road was an otherwise culminating moment that ultimately proved beneficial at the box office as well as among critics, ultimately celebrating the return of an iconic film anti-hero. As such, having previously gone to the presses the following summer with mentions of at least a few more follow-ups from the epic desert road rage opera, the last thing you would believe is Miller ever retiring from the franchise for any reason. Well, color us wrong, as the latest article published at the Page Six column of the NY Post (via The Wrap) so suggests through Miller’s own words. “I won’t make more ‘Mad Max’ movies,” he says. “‘Fury Road’ with Charlize Theron, Zoë Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Riley Keough was forever getting completed. If you finish one in a year, it’s considered a […]
Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy are two of the most immersive actors working in film today, something surely fitting for Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu in adapting author Michael Punke’s 2003 book, The Revenant, for the big screen. Looking forward, we get a film set in the 19th century western frontier, rich with potential and possibly some amazing performances induced by talent, as well as mother nature’s unrelenting tambre to suit a story of triumph over tribulation and sheer vengeance. SYNOPSIS: Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as […]
Much may have been up in the air as to whether or not actor Tom Hardy would be up for a comic book role after departing Suicide Squad long before filming. Alas, if there really indeed was, it appears that question has finally been answered. For this, we leer on over to a new report from THR announcing the Child 44 and The Dark Knight Rises co-star’s newly attached role in New Line Cinema’s first foot forward with Vertigo Comics properties, 100 Bullets. The award-winning comic property, created by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso, ran 100 issues between 1999 and 2009 and tells the story of Agent Graves, the perpetual driving force of a story of a man who, for reasons unknown, presents select recipients with a gun, a photo of the person who ruined their lives, and 100 rounds of untraceable ammunition. The Vatican Tapes scribe Chris Borelli is […]
