I have a special place in my heart for independent martial arts action productions. I love a good quality martial arts movie, as long as the action and the story are good, whether or not the film has a huge budget or a small one. Considering the amount of work the
Z-Team have done over the years, and the accolades they have achieved over the years, it is without question they have earned my utmost faith and support. And if you have ever seen their shortfilms, like
Duel and
Brothers Forever, you will know what I mean.
The Z-Team is a French independent martial arts action film team of award-winning kung fu and wushu performers and filmmakers that originally based their operations in China, working on their film technique and honing their skills to develop the kind of quality of martial arts action cinema that fans look for. Since then, select members of the group have accumulated other film credits, specifically including Laurent Buson, whose last known performance to martial arts film fans was alongside the main villain played by Mads Koudal in the breakout Indonesian martial arts action thriller, Merantau, starring Iko Uwais.
Well, the work of Laurent and his awesome team are about to pay off this year, with the upcoming release of their new, first-ever feature action thriller,
The Price Of Success, choreographed by the Z-Team, including actor
Laurent Buson who also co-produced the film with Steven Gorel, and co-star
Dider Buson. Fellow martial arts actor, stunt performer and director
Fabien Garcia also stars and co-wrote the screenplay. Jess Allen, Dave Vescio, Adelyne Liu, Xin Sarith Wuku, Jose Rosete, Gray Michael Sallies, Davis Chong, Michael Antonio Griffith Jr. and Aoni Ma round out the cast.
SYNOPSIS:
When a team of Shaolin-trained kung fu actors is about to get their break in Hollywood, a mysterious and sadistic Director forces them to run a gauntlet through Los Angeles. The Director films their every move as they prove their prowess by provoking a rogues’ gallery of underworld thugs and martial artists.
Until now, the last known update was a tweet from Laurent back in January which gave followers a glimpse of the post-production process. Today, we finally have a trailer which you can check out below for the time being. Be sure to check back for updates on a release date, and free to follow the progress on Facebook and Z-Team member and the film’s executive producer Yannick Van Dam on Twitter.
