Actor Jang Hyuk‘s reunion with The Swordsman helmer Choi Jae-hun is turning out some great prospects this year. Their latest film, The Killer, has set sail for releases this summer with screening throughout North Americas, including recently in Los Angeles, and this month in time for the twentieth New York Asian Film Festival, with Hyuk in attendance to receive the Daniel A. Craft award for Excellence In Action Cinema in both films. LONDON ACTION FESTIVAL 2022: ‘Die Hard’, ‘Predator’, ‘Con Air’, ‘Drunken Master 2’ And More In Store For The Inaugural Four-Day Event

The first-ever London Action Festival is set to kick off its four-day event from July 28 through July 31 at Picturehouse Central. The screening programme is currently available online at the official website listing a screening schedule that will also host Q&As for John McTiernan (Die Hard, Predator) and Simon West (Con Air). Published July 8, 2022: Director Hugo Sakamoto’s Baby Assassins is making a pit stop this month during the Kung Fu Extravaganza panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego on July 21. Three years after the sucessful rollout of Gundala, Joko Anwar’s inaugural superhero entry of the Bumilangit Cinematic Universe now has a follow-up in Upi Avianto’s own incarnation of superheroine staple, Sri Asih, which now delivers us a spectacular first teaser featuring actress Pevita Pearce in the title role. Hailing from Screenplay Films and Bumilangit Studios for its big screen release, the trailblazing superhero property was first birthed in 1954 from creator R.A. THE LEGEND & BUTTERFLY: Keishi Ohtomo’s Latest Sengoku War Drama Gets An Epic Teaser

Director Keishi Ohtomo of Rurouni Kenshin franchise fame is back with The Legend & Butterfly, starring Takuya Kimura (Blade Of The Immortal) and Haruka Ayase (Caution, Hazardous Wife: The Movie). Written by Ryota Ozawa (The Confidence Man: JP trilogy, Parasyte Part 1 & 2), the 16th century period epic tells of nefarious warlord Nobunaga Oda, his dissenting relationship with wife Nohime following their arranged marriage, and the synergy that ensued as war strategists in the face of a pending attack by Nobunaga’s rival, Imagawa Yoshimoto. Fantasia 2022: Five Must-See Titles To Watch At This Year’s 26th Edition

I think the one thing I’ve had difficulty with is picking which films to select for the curtain raiser I’m posting here ahead of this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival installation. Nearly all the selections I would bet are easy picks, but I’m resigned to only a handful. Honorable mentions thusfar for me go to Sadako DX for anyone who’s anyone who’s been a fan of iconic Japanese horror in the last three decades, namely since the infamous literary character was first adapted for the screen in the 1990s. DAWN: Beware Who You Ride With In The Official Poster For The Upcoming Horror From Uncork’d

Uncork’d Entertainment has a new poster making the rounds for rideshare thriller, Dawn, which will have a trailer launching in the very near future. Directed by Nicholas Ryan and starring Jackie Moore (Pernicious) and Jared Cohn (A Stalker in the House), Dawn “tells of an unsuspecting couple that get into a rideshare only to find out that they may have to fight for their lives as the deranged driver puts them through life and death situations.” The logline finishes with “Be careful who you accept a ride from, it may be your last.” Sarah French, Michael Paré, Eric Roberts, Gigi Gustin, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Nicholas Brendon also star from a script by Ryder Doupe, Dawson Doupé, and Todd Tapper.
