Lionsgate’s Grindstone Entertainment Group has acquired the North American rights to the upcoming World War II action thriller, Wolf Hound. The film is debut directed by Michael B. Chait from a screenplay storied by Chait and written by co-producer Timothy Ritchey. Takashi Hirano, whose producing credits partly include films like Dororo, Takashi Miike’s Zebraman films and 2017’s JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable – Chapter 1 to name a few, is diving head-first into manga territory for his feature directing debut. Netizens got a small glimpse late last year with a short teaser for Kiminori Wakasugi’s 2011 Young Animal publication, Kappei, which reunites Hirano with A Heartful Of Love star, actor Hideaki Ito, whose recent appearances also include Yu Irie’s Confession Of Murder remake, and Masato Harada’s Baragaki: Unbroken Samurai, the latter which finally saw an October release following more than a year of delays due to the pandemic. The 2nd helmer Brian Skiba is back on our radar to start the new year as Lionsgate revs up the campaign for his newest crime thriller, Pursuit. Skiba directs from a script he wrote with Andrew Stevens, along with Dawn Bursteen and Ben Fiore, for a starring cast that includes Emile Hirsch, Jake Manley, Elizabeth Ludlow and John Cusack. John Cusack (Grosse Pointe Blank) and Emile Hirsch (Into the Wild) star in this action thriller about a tough cop’s hunt for an even tougher criminal. Detective Breslin crosses paths with Calloway (Hirsch), a ruthless hacker desperate to find his wife, who has been kidnapped by a drug cartel. Actor Adrien Brody is diving right into the nitty gritty with a searing look into vengeance and redemption with new crime thriller, Clean. The official poster is now up for viewing below following last month’s trailer debut, with a theatrical release date set for January 28 from IFC Films. Tormented by a past life, garbage man Clean (Adrien Brody) attempts a life of quiet redemption. But when his good intentions mark him a target of local crime boss (Glenn Fleshler), Clean is forced to reconcile with the violence of his past. Clean rejoins Brody with Bullet Head director Paul Solet, who penned the script with Brody. I gotta say… this year-end piece has been pretty hard to ponder what with all the overthinking I’ve done. Keeping it simple was just as difficult for an approach to this thing, further elongating the lack of inspiration that I’ve increasingly felt in the last four months or so. That’s writers’ bloc for you. It’s a real bitch, and indeed, many things have factored into it, and it’s all still a challenge to take in. After coping with the passing of my sister back in April, I now find myself at a point where my own health and wellness are priority, in addition to my peace of mind. That meant a great deal of convalescence, both equally internal and external. It’s also meant recurring doctor visits in the past two months and more going forward. Lionsgate has announced a March 24, 2023 release date for the fourth installment of the John Wick saga, effectively delaying the film from its initially planned May 2022 release. Chad Stahelski directed the film from a script by Michael Finch, Shay Hatten and Derek Kolstad with actor Keanu Reeves reprising the title role once more.
