DREAM BREAKER Awakens The VR Thrills In The New Official Trailer

More than a year since offering a look at his latest sci-fi fantasy thriller, Dream Breaker, director Han Yan is finally poised to get some theatrical exhibition later this year. With a new poster in its wake, a new trailer has since arrived hailing actress Chen Duling, front and center of the illustrious spectacle, slick action and neo-noir Blade Runner-esque visuals. As The Hollywood Reporter noted in its exclusive coverage last Spring, Dream Breaker centers on a young girl whose investigation into her father’s suicide leaves her trapped in an illegal VR game. BOND 25 Lands Cary Fukunaga To Helm Spy Saga This Spring

It’s been about four months since Danny Boyle was announced to helm the 25th installment of the 007 franchise. With his departure last month since then left the search for another in his place as EON Productions and MGM paired with Universal for its previous release on November 8, 2019. That date has now been reset for February 14, 2020 with production moved back from this December to a March start date with Beasts Of No Nation and True Detective – Season One and Netflix series Maniac helmer Cary Fukunaga set to direct. Park Hee-Kon’s Period Drama, FENG SHUI, Releases Nationwide On October 5

Park Hee-Kon’s third outing comes decorated with seething intrigue for the narrative at hand in Feng Shui. Actor Cho Seung-Woo (Inside Men) leads the cast in the role of a medium whose nimble hand on spatial intuition will play an intergral role in who will claim the throne. Myung Dang (an ideal spot) could change someone’s destiny. The one that occupies the site would rule the world. Also starring are Ji Sung, Baek Yoon-Sik, Kim Sung-Kyun, Yoo Jae-Myung, Moon Chae-Won and Lee Won-Geun. The film will screen in the U.S. on September 21 exclusively at CGV Cinemas in Buena Park and Los Angeles before rolling out nationwide on October 5 from CJ Entertainment.

SAMURAI’S PROMISE: Brotherhood In Peril Weathers The Storm In The Final Trailer

Inspired by Hanmuro Rin’s 2012 novel, Kimura Daisaku’s more aptly-titled Samurai’s Promise (a.k.a. Chiri Tsubaki and Falling Camelia) got some screentime at the 42nd World Film Festival back in August. The upcoming chanbara drama won Special Grand Jury Prize at the time which offers some sweet decour as the film is still slated for a September 28 release in Japan from Toho. Shinbei is exiled from his clan for investigating its activities too closely. Eight years later, when Shinbei’s dying wife pleads with him to go to help his former best friend, Umeme, he returns to the clan. Infighting has produced turmoil within the clan, allowing Shinbei to discover the truth behind incidents involving his wife and his friend. Confronting Umeme, he understands the reason for his wife’s last wish. Headlining the cast are Okada Junichi, Nishijima Hidetoshi, Kuroki Haru, Ikematsu Sosuke and Aso Kumiko.

THE GREAT WAR OF ARCHIMEDES: Yamazaki Takashi’s Manga Adaptation Sets Course For Summer 2019

Yamazaki Takashi (Parasyte 1 & 2, Eternal Zero, Returner) is just about done filming his next epic, The Great War Of Archimedes. The new film is based on Mita Norifusa’s 2015 manga publication, set in the 1930s as the Imperial Japanese Navy undergoes plans to build the world’s biggest and most powerful battleship, the Yamato. Actor Suda Masaki fronts the cast thusfar as mathematical genius, Kai, brought aboard at the behest of an eager admiral, only to uncover discrepancies in the cost of its construction, as well as another potential conspiracy. Suda’s most recent credits include starring in Fukuda Yuichi’s Gintama franchise, Kishi Yoshiyuki’s two-part boxing drama, Wilderness, and Nagai Akira’s Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High. Further details remain pending ahead of the film’s expected release next summer.

Hit Novel MYSTERIOUS SEAS AND THE LANDS OF WONDER: THE MATCHLESS PEARL On Par For Multimedia Platform Adaptations

Chinese online streaming banner, iQIYI, is aiming to follow through on announcements over the weekend regarding Tang Jia San Shao’s hit novel, Mysterious Seas And Lands of Wonder: The Matchless Pearl. The goal is to develop the IP into multiple content formats including original drama, cartoon, film, game, anime and more. The move comes following an exclusive agreement the renowned author signed an exclusive agreement with iQIYI’s literature platform prior to publishing the novel in June. According to the announcement on Sunday, Tang Jia San Shao plans to develop the book into a series of stories over the coming decade.

xXx4 Casts TF Boys’ Own Roy Wang

Production on the fourth installment of the xXx franchise is still months away as Vin Diesel remains on the set of his latest thriller, Bloodshot. The aforementioned franchise title, currently home at Paramount following a rousing third installment release last January has D.J. Caruso on board to helm once more and with word that TF Boys member Roy Wang is slated to star as of last week. There aren’t any details yet on what the fourth installment may entail. The film sits as one of several titles delineated in a recent deal officiated between The H Collective and Chinese streaming company, iQIYI which would allow the film to share releases in the U.S. as well as in China. iQIYI debuted its first international distro title, action thriller The Blizzard with theatrical releasea in Canada beginning last week on September 14.

THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB: A Bittersweet Reunion Looms In The Newest Trailer

Fede Alvarez is at the helm for the latest rousing push for upcoming thriller, The Girl In The Spider’s Web. Following suit from David Fincher’s inaugural 2011 film revamp of Stieg Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Emmy-winning actress Claire Foy fronts the sequel from a script by Alvarez, and co-scribes Jay Basu and Steven Knight. Foy is joined by actor Sverrir Gudnason as both the elusive tough-as-nails cult heroine and computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander and journalist Mikael Blomkvist who find themselves embroiled in a web of espionage, cybercrime and government corruption. There’s not much else to the plot at hand but the reveal of actress Sylvia Hoeks seems intriguing to the matter. Rounding out the cast are Lakeith Stanfield, Stephen Merchant, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund and Vicky Krieps for the film’s November 9 release.

RED SONJA: Bryan Singer Up To Helm Remake For Millenium

I sat and thought from time to time about who should star in a remake of Red Sonja. I’m thoroughly sold on the idea of casting either Rebecca Ferguson or even Jessica Chastain for title. That said, depending on how far things go, I’m slightly confident that Sophie Turner would suit the role given having shared the set prior with X-Men: Apocalypse helmer Bryan Singer. Word from Heat Vision at THR states the beleagured helmer of upcoming Bohemian Rhapsody is being tapped to direct the film for Millenium. The character was originally recreated by Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor with partial inspiration from Robert E. Howard’s own shortstory work from the 1930s. The last we heard on the upcoming untitled Joker movie from The Hangover director Todd Phillips, Alec Baldwin pretty much came and left from the role of Thomas Wayne, patriarch of the Wayne family whose tragic fallout would birth the rise of the Dark Knight himself, Batman. Granted, this film doesn’t share space with Warner Bros.’ current DCEU timetable, and so therein lies the question of just what will apply with this particular film.
