Deadline’s exclusive this week writes that Bob Odenkirk (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul) is readying a new action thriller with STXfilms and Hollywood film production and action company 87Eleven. Nobody is the name of the project and has Odenkirk joined by Marc Provissiero through their Odenkirk-Provissiero production banner along with Braden Aftergood producing, and Derek Kolstad scripting. The story follows a man who comes to the defense of a woman being harassed by thugs, only to learn later that one of the men he put in the hospital is the brother of a drug kingpin, now out for vengeance. Han Yan’s Cyberpunk Actioner, DREAM BREAKER, Impresses With Spectacular Visuals And Style In The Latest Trailer

Beijing Film Academy graduate Han Yan is stepping out in strong fashion these days. The latest trailer for cyberpunk action sci-fi thriller, Dream Breaker, is all-but-proof of this with a cast led by actress Chen Duling who recently appeared in Hiroki Ryuichi’s Namiya novel adaptation. Actor and young talent Song Dawei also joins in for the film’s sprawling narrative which reportedly centers on a young girl whose investigation into her father’s suicide leaves her trapped in an illegal VR game. The film’s development and production was targeted specificially toward today’s audiences tethered to the digital age with a design aided remarkably by Sono Sion (Tokyo Tribe) who also executive produced the film. Actor Lee Byung-Hun’s next is offering a punch of comedy or as we approach the release of Keys To The Heart next week. The Fatal Encounter scribe Choi Sung-Hyun makes his directorial debut here now with Lee in the role of a washed-up boxer who amends his uneasy relationship with his handicapped genius pianist brother via stories of their past as shared by their mother. Park Jung-Min, who appears in the coming fantasy comedy, Psychokinesis, also stars in addition to actress Yoon Yeo-Jung. Choi also reunited with The Fatal Encounter actresses Han Ji-Min and Kim Sung-Ryoung. CJ Entertainment has the rights to this one so expect a slow and steady rollout for U.S. audiences in due time. GOLDEN SLUMBER: Gang Dong-Won Ducks And Dodges Danger In The Official Trailer

Nakamura Yoshihiro’s 2010 adaptation of Isaka Kotato’s 2007 thriller novel, Golden Slumber may come to mind this week with a remake now in tow. Actor Gang Dong-Won now succeeds that of Sakai Masato’s iteration of a delivery man who gets swept into an assassination conspiracy, framed and forced on the run to clear his name. The film’s release from CJ Entertainment who produced the original, has apparently been pushed back from its New Years’ Eve date to sometime in February. An official trailer is now live to help introduce the narrative accordingly with Han Hyo-Joo, Yoon Kye-Sang, Kim Dae-Myung, Kim Sung-Kyun and Kim Eui-Sung also starring. No Dong-Seok of My Generation (2004) and Boys Of Tomorrow (2006) fame directs. Check it out!

Vin Diesel’s franchise profusion continues this week with The Wrap exclusively reporting on Monday regarding his latest potential bid to headline the 2019 release, Bloodshot. Tim Miller’s Blur Studios cohort Dave Wilson has long since been attached to direct from Arrival scribe Eric Heisserer’s script which centers on a newly resurrected supersoldier tasked with rounding up harbingers. The xXx and The Fast And The Furious star already has more from these franchises on the way while Bloodshot now reportedly gives Diesel a high-concept sci-fi actioner to add to his work history, and with an R-rating to boot.
