THE MONKEY KING 2 Continues The Legend At Home On DVD, Blu-Ray And Digital HD This Winter!

Having been the more well received of the trilogy now in progress, the Aaron Kwok-starring second chapter, The Monkey King 2 is finally headed to U.S. audiences following limited theatrical releases earlier this year. Attack The Gas Station and Deranged helmer Park Jung-Woo’s latest thriller, Pandora, is certain to score views around the world in 2017 when it hits Netflix. Until then, South Korea has first dibs on the new film which sees Kim Nam-gil (The Pirates) as a man who sets out to save his family and country from an impending atomic explosion following a devastating earthquake. Without question in my own collective up keep of live-action anime/manga-adapted feature titles to come, Fumihiko Sori’s take on the sprawling epic, Fullmetal Alchemist, is sure to be on radar for many an otaku. It’s also been one of the more tedious animes to follow with there being two versions – the latter being Irie Yasuhiro’s Bones-produced Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood providing a more complete telling of the Arakawa Hiromu manga. Relativity, Storyoscopic Announce Production Deal; Sequels To IMMORTALS, THE NOVEMBER MAN And More In The Works

Not to be hindered in the least by previous legal or other financial woes of recent, it appears that Relativity is moving forward with a slate of new titles along with sequels to a number of titles dating back to 2011 or so. A few of these will include sequels to the sci-fi adventure, Earth To Echo, military actioner Act Of Valor, as well as Tarsem Singh’s Greek fantasy adventure, Immortals, and Roger Donaldson’s 2014 novel adaptation, The November Man. The announcement boasts a new $200 million dollar production deal with Storyoscopic for five or more films annually, utilizing Relativity’s RED banner which it launched in 2010. The deal affirms immediate advancement of the forthcoming titles, which also includes Riddick film series helmer David Twohy’s upcoming Chinese-U.S. co-production, Ice Moon Rising, which was announced earlier this year. Things didn’t turn out too well for me over the weekend during the afterevents of the UASE in New York City on Saturday evening. THE FRENCH DRAGON Places Alan Delabie Front And Center For The Action In The First Teaser

Following a small string of shorts and the 2007 co-directorial horror, Long Pigs, helmer Chris Power is already underway in Canada as of earlier this year with the upcoming indie actioner, The French Dragon. Parisian martial artist and actor Alan Delabie takes center stage in the film as a stuntman off to meet with his backpacking girlfriend in Canada when she ends of missing. More progress will be made between now and 2017 while the production, marking Power’s solo directorial debut, has since launched its first teaser for the indie action pic. It’s a bit rough and unpolished but otherwise presents what action fans mostly ask for, ultimately getting the genuine article in Delabie and a great stunt team on hand for the action. Take a look!

Action sequences offically wrapped within the past day for coordinator Tim Man in his latest reunion with director Isaac Florentine on the latest Bulgarian production, Stoic. The film shoot ran quietly under the radar over the past several weeks or so until Spanish-language headlines began rolling out with the film’s lead star, Antonio Banderas, going viral a la set pic of a near-slip during some of the film’s action work. Banderas plays a lawyer on a mission to avenge the death of his wife and son, and is joined by a cast that includes actress Paz Vega, Robert Forster, and Karl Urban. Long overdue for an explanation good enough to adhere to the protest, the release of live-action manga/anime thriller, Ghost In The Shell, now arrives with its first trailer following a spate of micro teasers and a recent behind-the-scenes look. Undoubtedly this one has an otherwise lush and slick look to it in many of the shots, accompanied by sequences respective to some of the original material. Moreover, the added benefit of Johansson’s familiarity with action roles after six years of playing Black Widow in the Marvel films as well as almost unifying approval via the film’s anime patriarch, Oshii Mamoru, certainly gives the film a voice to stake its claim for its international feature film appeal. Director Jesse Johnson (The Package, The Beautiful Ones) is all about surprises as of late and with his latest, Accident Man, we’re bound for a plateful. For now, the word is out with the addition of actress Ashley Greene, prominently known for her role in the Twilight Saga, now cast as one of the leads. Styled as an ultraviolent tale similar to Deadpool, Accident Man hails from the auspices of UK comic book publisher, Toxic!, created by Pat Mills in the early 90’s. Deadline reports that Greene will take on the role of Charlie, a woman with whom our protagonist, cavalier assassin and expert clean-up man, Mike Fallon, team up to investigate and avenge the death of Fallon’s beloved Beth. It was two years ago that American Mary, Dead Hooker In A Trunk and Vendetta helmers Jen and Sylvia Soska teased an inspiring vision for an adaptation of the hit graphic novel, Painkiller Jane. Since then, nothing has transpired on that end while it now appears that the project will be moving forward at Solipsist Films, and with news that actress Jessica Chastain is set to star and produce. The film is inspired by the gritty, edgy and sensational work of Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Quesada from their 1996 Paperfilms publication with the title character, Jane Vasco, a tough NYC cop who wakes up one day with unique superpowers after being forcibly drugged into a coma following her blown cover during her infiltration of an underground drug and human trafficking ring. Predictors are almost certain that Gareth Edwards’s latest, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be pretty exponential, though not as much as last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That doesn’t change the fact that Star Wars itself has a global fanbase and will assuredly give the new spin-off origin film a box office shot and no less with a vision that clearly possesses the potential to muster support. Unabashed moviegoers might otherwise take a liking to director Rupert Sanders’s treatment of the hit manga/anime property, Ghost In The Shell. Others, well…not so much; Issues still loom over the one casting decision that highlights the prevalent hitch over Hollywood whitewashing, further discouraging some from even giving the film a second or third thought. That discussion obviously carries some weight and it obviously doesn’t help that prolific anime auteur Oshii Mamoru who adapted Shiro Masumane’s original groundbreaking manga is also endorsing the big budget spectacle against naysayers who feel ignored on the topic of yellowface.
