KILL ZONE 2 – A Conflict…

Full disclosure, before we begin… I watched this film with two different minds. It was a Jekyll/Hyde experience. One, incidentally, that the film itself captures in one of my favorite scenes. It is between the two principal characters on which the onion layered narrative hinges it’s caboose, and it happens in a dark, claustrophobic location; a prison cell. Tony Jaa’s character Chatchai (featuring prominently in the film, …sometimes), and Wu Jing’s character Chan Chi-Kit are having a lost in translation moment during which Jaa is attempting to convey some decidedly important information to Jing. Only, the two men speak different languages (Chitchai speaks Thai, Chi-Kit speaks Cantonese) and are forced to improvise with the use of a cellphone translator. HIGANJIMA: DELUXE Traps You On The Worst Island Ever In The Latest Trailer

Neko Samurai 2 helmer Watanabe Takeshi is returning to cinemas this October with his latest thrillride, Higanjima: Deluxe, succeeding author Matsumoto Koji’s 2002-2010 Kodansha manga series, and the live-action film and TV show thereafter. Korean Action Comedy, SHOWDOWN Squares Off With A New Character Trailer

It’s been a while since South Korean cinema dominated our radar with action films save for a few recent hits. Leave it, however, to Untouchable Lawmen helmer Shin Dong-yeop who now heads to the big screen this Fall with his latest action comedy, Showdown. Featuring debut lead actor Lee Joo-seung, the film tells of a young street fighter and second-in-command gangster who resorts to training under an old martial arts master, and viral video celebrity via his chat forum to challenge the suspect who put his detective brother in a coma amid a pending murder investigation. Filmmaker Doug Liman may be a bit despondent over losing his baby by 2005, but the former still has a several reasons to stay optimistic…well, a few. Nolan's DUNKIRK Sees Incoming In The First Announcement Trailer

Just a little over a few months since production began for writer and director Christopher Nolan’s new World War 2 thriller, Dunkirk, we’ve now come to with a first trailer announcing the film ahead of its July 21 release next year. HOMETOWN HERO Gets Far From A Hero's Welcome In The First Trailer

Directing duo Dave Lugo and Matt Schwartz are setting sail this summer from El Ride Productions with the new action drama, Hometown Hero. Headlining actor Jordan Tisdale for his own coming-out feature debut, we get a story of a former soldier with PTSD and forced to square things with some seedy characters in the midst. Our villain? Actor Eric Roberts who leads a pack of white supremacists to try and force a hero out of his home. You can imagine the carnage that ensues, or better yet, even sample some of it in the first trailer below. Nope, I’m not waiting for any updates on action star Wesley Snipes starring in another Blade movie. That’ll happen when it happens, and IF it happens, but I’m moving forward nonetheless with prospects now looming over at Minds Eye Entertainment where production is now underway for the new sci-fi action thriller, The Recall. To what capacity Snipes’s character aside from the rest of the cast will be though is unclear except his role will be that of “The Hunter” which is already my selling point as a fan. Director David Lam’s 2014 corporate action thriller, Z Storm, was a mixed bag of good and ridiculous with a story centered on the watchdog exploits of the ICAC. It was quite the thriller with Michael Wong serving as a notable villain, might add, and so this Fall, the next chapter commences with the me S Storm (or Z Storm 2), and with a cast once again led by Louis Koo. SYNOPSIS: Continuing after the anti-corruption battle in the earlier film, Z Storm, the sequel centres on the ICAC agent’s next move towards an even more uncontrollable case about the illegal world of Sports / Soccer gambling, which makes him re-enter the dangerous area? Dave Green’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows wasn’t something I got to see at the theaters, and judging by box office returns I don’t think there will be a third, which is unfortunate. I actually wanted to see more of what the studio had to offer following the introduction of Bebop, Rocksteady and Krang onto the big screen for the first time as it meant so much for this to happen and I actually kinda hope that a third film happens. Well, my weekend was all work and no play, but I did get to view a handful of shortfilms and a terrific independent feature film well on its way. Reviews will arrive in due time, while I’ve since gathered up what I could for this week’s installment of The Hit List, and I hope it suits your fancy. Joel Kinnaman Talks SUICIDE SQUAD 2

David Ayer’s Suicide Squad is live-streaming its red-carpet premere in New York City on Monday, just five days ahead of its release in time for Warner Bros. The film also comes off of earlier rumblings back in March of a possible sequel that Ayer himself may direct once he wraps his forthcoming reunion with Suicide Squad co-lead, actor Will Smith for Netflix’s sci-fi cop thriller, Bright. With that in mind, Suicide Squad is the talk of the town this week with word from Variety‘s latest interview with actor Joel Kinnaman on whether or not he would join the sequel or other DC Comics movies. “We’ll see.
