There have been several behind-the-scenes photos going viral for director Dean Israelite’s latest, Power Rangers, and while I won’t share them here, I do say that I am keen on where they might be going, and specifically with regard to actress Elizabeth Banks in the role of intergalatic villain, Rita Repulsa. Here it definitely looks like she’ll be a bit more hands on with our color-coded young adult heroes as seen in the latest photo from the official Facebook page, compared to that of the initial 1993 series inspired by its Japan roots. ESCAPE PLAN 2, Chinese NOW YOU SEE ME Spinoff In The Works At Lionsgate

Reports are now coming out that plans are under way for a Chinese spin-off of the hit heist franchise, Now You See Me in the wake of its sequel which opened in June. The film is one of two titles in a new co-production deal between the film’s studio, Lionsgate, and Beijing-based Leomus Pictures. “We’re working closely with Lionsgate on the story,” Leomus Pictures CEO Jie Qiu tells THR. “And a Hollywood writer will be involved to make sure the spinoff is aligned with the Now You See Me franchise and has the same level of quality.” The move was reportedly off-set by the success of the Hollywood sequel in China surrounding a quintet of magicians forced into a battle of wits and tricks with a villanous tech wizard. Actor and martial artist Alain Moussi sort of came out of nowhere following his career in stunts with credits like Warcraft and X-Men: Apocalypse. That said, attaining the lead in a feature-length action flick, particularly the remake of a Hollywood action classic like Kickboxer is a pretty huge step forward and it appears Moussi himself has earned a promising chance to deliver with not just one film, but an entire threelquel reboot. It was back in 2012 that Collateral and Blackhat helmer Michael Mann was up to helm writer S. Craig Zahler’s speculative script, high-concept thriller, Big Stone Grid. Fast forward four years later and now we have news from Deadline that Pierre Morel will direct the film instead with Lotus Entertainment producing, financing and selling internationally. Filming locations are currently pending while the report tells of a story set in New York City where two detectives are swept into a cat-and-mouse game with serial killers who are, in turn, forced to commit heinous crimes. Actor Bruce Willis is on a pretty good streak lately. Prolifically he’s up for the lead role in Eli Roth’s forthcoming Death Wish remake while staying afloat with a slew of action films from E/F/O Films with director Steven C. Miller (Extraction, Marauders). This week, the streak continues with both star and director rejoining once more for the new thriller First Kill. Filming begins next month with a script by Nick Gordon which sees Willis as a police chief in a race against time when a thug shoots a bankrobber who takes a young boy hostage as incentive to acquire a missing key to his loot following a fumbled heist.
