Screener Review: GARM WARS: THE LAST DRUID (2015)

I seldom get to watch an Oshii Mamoru film these days, so to be able to finally screen Garm Wars: The Last Druid is indeed a treat. As far as critiquing is concerned though, it was a little less enthusing than expected while still presenting quite a few gems along the way right down to its epic finish. Oshii and scribe Geoffrey Gunn wrote the script which centers on a cloned supersoldier named Khara, played by Melanie St. Pierre. Hong Kong action maestro John Woo is currently among an ensemble cast of seasoned veterans currently working on the eight part cinematic Hong Kong anthology, 8 And A Half. In the meantime, he’ll be seugueing back to television as of this week with newly-formed London company, Catalyst Global Media for the new West-meets-East neo-noir crime series, Cognition. FAST 8 Directors' Shortlist Nails Down To Four

The past several weeks have been pretty rickety with the development of the upcoming eighth installment of the Fast And Furious saga. Actor and series producer Vin Diesel‘s name has been one in the rumor mill for sometime now along with an array of contentious blurbs from around the web regarding troubles finding a director, issues which Diesel at one point made clear were non-existent with the congruent search for a director. Watch The New Trailer For Kurt Russell Western Thriller, BONE TOMAHAWK

The new trailer for S. Craig Zahler‘s Bone Tomahawk finally arrived courtesy of EW. The film had its eventful premiere on Thursday night at Fantastic Fest with a mix of reviews deeming it as largely favorable. Granted, if you love westerns and have a thing for a good Kurt Russell flick, this one seems fitting. Gladly, RLJ Entertainment has this one in the bag for a U.S. release on October 23 in theaters and on iTunes and VOD, so we won’t be left out for long. Adkins, Barrett & Nunn Wrap ELIMINATORS For WWE/Tea Shop & Film

Director James Nunn’s MMA fight drama, Green Street Hooligans: Underground, was my first foray into his work, and gladly it was a delightful debut at that. With that in mind, Nunn is back at it once again with martial arts star Scott Adkins for the new international action thriller, Eliminators, following the announcement back in April from WWE Studios and Tea Shop & Film Company, and short bursts of pics flowing through social media in the last few months with wrestler-turned-actor Wade Barrett also starring. Further casting info will go viral in due time but the best of all is to see fight choreographer and action actor Tim Man involved as well – icing on the cake after wrapping Undisputed IV with helmer Isaac Florentine over the summer, thus promising a good year in 2016 with quite a few Adkins-starrers slated for release. Daniel Craig And Christoph Waltz Set The Record Straight In The Final Trailer For SPECTRE

I have to say, as much as Daniel Craig stays so vocal about not minding someone else taking over the iconic role of James Bond, I’m a little perplexed by it as he’s done such a fantastic job. Rebooting 007 into a single story after 20 films has been a pretty good move so far for MGM with Sony Pictures on hand, especially with the success had by the release of Skyfall in 2012 which I thoroughly enjoyed. Needless to say, while I look forward to watching whoever gets cast to replace Craig in the meantime, I look forward to what’s in store for the new movie, Spectre.
